Well, khm... the little guy is actually in a bit of a bind right now, so he's being looked after by his foster family.
They’re making the calls for him, and I shot the photo with their blessing.

ps. He had these bright yellow paws, too; I had to zoom in just to keep us all calm.🙄 😁

Good grief, my typing skills are absolutely tragic right now. 😁

Not quite. I'll let the evidence speak for itself—here is Exhibit B, a photo taken at 3:06 PM.😎 😁

Keith James812 said:Did you guys know that before foals are even fully formed, they actually start out with three toes, only for two of them to merge into the lower leg bone during development? 😎 It’s basically a biological souvenir from the era when their ancestors crawled out of the ocean using those same three digits like some kind of prehistoric lizard. 😎

So, since I’m clearly a walking encyclopedia, does it really matter if I’ve put on a few extra pounds lately? 😎 😍 🤣

Personally, I’ve always had a thing for curvy women, so it makes no difference to me. 😳

🙂

He even had a Jewish symbol tattooed right there on his shoulder.😎 😁

Keith James812 said:but let’s be honest... have you ever actually seen a shark wearing a pink swimsuit? 😁

Yeah, I saw one today.
down in Cleveland.

Sure, it was technically on land, but species are evolving, so why couldn't a shark just decide to stroll along the shoreline? 😎

Arthur Martinez7 said:You think you have it good? I’m officially on vacation starting Friday, yet I still have to head into the office tomorrow. Try beating that level of chaos. 😁 😁

Oh, please, I am absolutely high-society metropolitan about it, if you catch my drift.🙄 😁

I've already settled into a rhythm of five drinks every evening and one during the day for the last two months.

Pure bliss.🎉

ps. I might actually kill someone.😎

Keith James812 said:retail workers! seriously, do you remember when that idiot Jack caused a massive panic on Good Morning America a few years back by claiming some catastrophic storm was about to wreck everyone's property? 😁 😁

🤣

Jack is a total genius 🤣

Keith James812, give me a break; if you're such an expert, why don't we schedule our swimming routes every other day or something?

I'm being dead serious here, try showing a little respect for my suggestion. 😁

So, as you can tell🙄 😁 I just walked through the door after a long shift at the office.

And obviously, sleep is the last thing on my mind right now.
And... why am I even putting myself through this?

😠 🙄 😁

They're just hanging out in the university cafeteria, basically winging it whenever the topic of weather forecasting comes up.😁

The forecast is looking at scattered showers and thunderstorms overnight between Monday and Tuesday. We'll have some southerly winds that should die down by the end of the day, and temperatures will likely stay right where they are now, if not climb a bit higher.
Some people just call it having a screw loose.😁

Or maybe they're just playing checkers while everyone else is playing chess.😁
Dealing with an emotional manipulator in Psychology ·
Sarah James4 said:What’s the takeaway here?

Honestly, what you wrote isn't even a masterclass in emotional manipulation.
It sounds more like a description of your average jerk.

Real manipulation is a lot more intricate; when it doesn't carry a negative stigma, it often feels more like a defense mechanism to me.
Nonverbal communication tips? in Psychology ·
Just a quick side note, I’m going to focus on body language here.
I have to admit, I used to be pretty skeptical about the whole "body language" thing—until I had my own little epiphany.

When two people are talking, their body language conveys all these subtle nuances, basically exposing everything they’re trying to hide with their actual words.

Take my new job, for example. We work in one of those modern open-plan offices with glass walls everywhere, so we can all see each other.

Since I don't know anyone or any of the office politics yet, I just sit there and observe. One day, this young woman walks into my boss's office... They start talking, and on the surface, it looks like a strictly professional business meeting.

Watching them, I leaned over to the colleague next to me and whispered, "Those two are hooking up. And they've been doing it for a while."

She practically spat on me; mind you, she's been at this company for years and thinks she knows everyone, but she didn't see it coming at all.

Honestly, most of the people there haven't got a clue.

And of course, I was right. It turns out they've been seeing each other for two years now—total confirmation.

I picked up on the whole situation just from a few non-verbal cues.

They called me a witch, but hey, they've said that before; I'm used to it.
😁

God, I miss absolutely nothing, it's actually annoying.

salemef1 said:Let me know if you guys feel the same way—how you perceive the crowd and how the crowd perceives you...

I’ve always been the type of person who feels an intense sense of unease in large crowds. Generally speaking, any environment that gets too packed or "suffocating" triggers a certain anxiety in me... or rather, an irresistible urge—which I've acted on more than a few times—to just push my way through the throng and get out.

Honestly, there’s almost a sense of pure relief when I finally break free. Or when I can just retreat into some cozy, slightly eccentric little corner.

I suspect my career choice was actually a subconscious response to this; working solo while being part of a mass that doesn't even notice me.

I mostly use "the crowd" as a way to blend in, to hide or drown myself in a sea of supposed conformity, just so people don't notice how much I fail to fit into mainstream trends.

When you stand out, you become a target—and unfortunately, the targets are usually insecure primitives rather than anyone particularly intelligent or sensitive.

Or at least, mindful people.

I simply don't function in social circles where I have to adapt to the local "flavor"—whether it's obsessing over NFL stats, mindless gossip, or just talking nonsense.

That drains me far more than debating the laws of astrophysics ever could.

The crowd and I are mostly polite adversaries.

It’s just that sometimes I use them as cover, and they occasionally pull a fast one on me and expose me anyway... :-))
Why do some people just crave peace and quiet? in Philosophy ·
Peace isn't some rose-colored delusion that most people cling to just to feel better about their mediocre lives.
It’s not some chirping bird or the mindless babbling of a creek...

True inner tranquility is probably a person's greatest achievement—and easily their hardest—because it requires actual harmony with your own soul and the reality surrounding you.

Finding peace means finally beating your own worst impulses in a fair fight.

....it's that specific moment when you find yourself wearing a genuine, quiet smile, feeling completely and utterly in control of your own existence.
Calcium supplements, calcium pills... or honestly, anything else packed with calcium.
Because of my job, I always have them on hand—they’re basically a permanent fixture by my side.

I try to stay away from smoking too much, soda, yelling, whispering, or any of that weird, unnatural way of talking.

It's better to just speak at a moderate, steady volume.

I remember this one time after a massive party where my voice just completely gave out on me, and it was a nightmare because I woke up the next morning needing to head into work where my voice is literally my entire livelihood.

I ended up stuck on a regimen of calcium and total silence for ten days.

Flafonja or Štemer? Who are you? in Spirituality ·
I consider myself pretty much the gold standard for being laid back 😁 , though you might just push my last nerve if you keep this up.

At that point, I’ll be losing my mind, and compared to me, hurricane Charlie is nothing more than a little breeze.

So, you're a laid-back Stemmer, huh?🙂

It’s like trying to squeeze into a packed elevator during rush hour in downtown Chicago; there’s just no room left.

Spot on, champ.😉

Sending back a hug that I once desperately needed, which I eventually received from you.

copperridge912 said:I couldn't sleep, there was absolutely nothing on TV, so I ended up doing some self-exams.🙂
A friend of mine—she actually had a cyst found during her mammogram—was telling me that the "right" way to check your breasts is to press right where the nipple is and dig deep into the tissue... apparently, her OB-GYN told her that's how it's done.
It sounds simple enough, I guess—no harm, no foul—but how am I supposed to tell the difference between a harmless cyst or something actually pathological and just regular glandular tissue? It's not like I have a medical degree to distinguish one from the other.

Honestly, you can't. My doctor was pretty blunt about the fact that most women aren't actually capable of palpating something truly concerning.

My own tissue is just incredibly dense, so every little bump I find sends me into a total panic. I make it a habit almost every time I shower; I'll put on some lotion and work my way from the armpit area forward, circling everything.

I never seem to find anything definitive either.😁

At the end of the day, I'd rather just leave that part to the professionals.
