Nathan Evans78 said:So, you're telling me those 800,000 people don't have anything else to worry about? I always assumed an overdraft only kicks in when you actually go into the red—like, say, you land an entry-level gig making $1,500 a month, but then you blow through $2,000 because you decided you deserved a nicer tracksuit and a few rounds of Manchester United at the Verizon lounges during happy hour.

😁

Typical New York yuppies.

In places like California and Florida, you’re basically stuck during the winter months, whether you have money to spend or not.

Samuel Anderson34 said:Is there anywhere with top-tier hockey and basketball markets, specifically for live betting, that won't screw me over with limits? I know Pinnacle is the gold standard and nobody complains about them, but they don't have much in the way of live action, and their hockey selection is pretty weak.

Are we talking about great variety or great odds? Because honestly, it's rare to find a sportsbook that delivers both at the same time.
Give Matchbook a shot. It’s essentially a bet exchange similar to Betfair, just a lot more user-friendly. You’ll only run into limits if there isn't enough liquidity on the other side of your bet. Otherwise, the service is excellent, and you can get your payouts via PayPal within 24 hours without any extra fees.

Willhill tends to have solid live options, but just a heads-up: don't try chasing soft lines or hunting surebets there, or you'll get limited pretty quickly.

10bet isn't bad for live betting either, though they aren't quite in the same league as Pinn or Matchbook. Whatever you do, stay away from their bonuses—their rollover requirements are incredibly strict.

Andrew Howard14 said:I set up a PayPal account yesterday and they locked my card. I entered the exact amount taken from my account three times, but it still wouldn't work. It's ridiculous. Does anyone know what PayPal's support email is? I spent an hour scouring the web and found nothing. This is a total disaster.

When money is pulled from your card, you have to wait about 3 or 4 days for your bank to actually register the transaction. If you check your online banking immediately, the amount will look wrong because it shows up as a "pending authorization" or something similar, depending on which US bank you use. You need to wait those few days until the transaction description explicitly says "PayPal Deposit."
For example, if they take $1.65 today, it might show up as $1.63 or $1.64 initially. That isn't what PayPal actually charged; it's just the bank adjusting the figure by a couple of cents during the pending phase.

While you're waiting for the actual amount to clear, go ahead and send an email to PayPal explaining that your bank is showing a pending authorization instead of a completed payment.

Their support is fine; you just have to be direct and clear with them. They don't offer a direct email address or live chat specifically so they don't get flooded with basic questions.
Why does nobody seem to know anything about the USA? in Close to Politics ·
gentleeagle45 said:I have a question for the skeptics here. A friend of mine traveled through Thailand, Singapore, and Indonesia, and he told me: "Every time I tell people I'm from the States, nobody has any clue where that is."
When he mentioned Marshall, some of the older folks in Indonesia actually recognized the name.
When he said America, a few people knew the deal and reacted with interest,
but when he just said USA, most people were completely lost.
It’s frustrating; a few people actually knew what he was talking about, which was a relief.

Honestly, we spend so much time debating our place in the world, yet half the globe doesn't even know where we are on a map.

That’s exactly how Tarzan reacted when he laid eyes on a rifle!

😂

Some uneducated sheep need to pick up a textbook and actually learn some geography. They're completely illiterate, just a bunch of ignorant people. What am I supposed to do, go out of my way to teach some narrow-minded little man something new...

Here's a little evidence regarding what I'm talking about: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:L...rate_world.svg
Or maybe this will work: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of..._literacy_rate
And you? Don't talk about your own country with such disdain. Half the world doesn't know where we are because half the world is COMPLETELY ILLITERATE and has probably never even seen a world map. We aren't "acting" important. People who want to know about the USA will find out. Those who don't? Well, I don't care to know them either!

What does it mean to be a true and good American? in Close to Politics ·
Rebecca Lee6 said:Hey everyone. Reading through these threads, I notice a lot of people chest-thumping about how much of an American they are. Personally, I see it differently. There’s really no need to constantly shout about your heritage at every single turn. To me, it’s enough to just love your country and take care of your culture, traditions, and language. If you find yourself abroad, just be a great ambassador for our people... act in a way that leaves everyone with a fantastic impression of America. And honestly, one of the most important things is not to push your identity so hard that it makes others feel less valued. That’s what being a good American means to me.👍

P.S. I feel this way about other nations too!

In my opinion, every American must know the ENGLISH LANGUAGE (both spoken and written). To start with...
Even though I'm from your neck of the woods (we might even be neighbors), I try to write in proper, literary English here on the forum because it's the only way everyone can actually understand me. Just imagine if folks from New York "went at it" their own way, people from Texas did it their way, and people from rural Maine did it their way...
Sure, Canadians can be rude and they write in Canadian, but that won't last long either... the same goes for Mexicans!
So, learn your own language first!
Otherwise, your point is well taken!
High IQ and Narcissism: Fact or Fiction? in Psychology ·
brighteagle39 said:It seems quite certain, wouldn't you agree? I mean, there would be no reason for them to go through the trouble of forming their own independent organizations—what are they called again... Meals on Wheels or something similar.

Don't worry, you aren't going to suddenly "slide" into narcissism...

So, the logic is that if a specific group organizes itself into an association, they must all be geniuses?
Take a motorcycle club, for example—that’s just an organization where bikers join together. Does that automatically mean every single biker out there is a high-IQ intellectual?

That is just pure nonsense...

Canadians, I am fully backing your "I'M BREAKING UP WITH SUMMER VACATIONS ON THE COAST" movement!!! And seriously, I’m not kidding around here. Please—just stay away!!! We are already fully booked with our high-end clientele anyway... but I’m genuinely worried that most of you won't listen to reason and will end up showing up this summer regardless just to check on your vacation homes along the American Adriatic!!!

What would you do with a million dollars? in Economy ·
rolandus said:these responses really highlight just how far behind we are compared to other developed nations. Out of a million different ways to invest, everyone here is obsessed with real estate, opening coffee shops, or messing around with investment funds. It’s because those things don't require much actual skill or hard work. It paints a pretty grim picture for the future of our economy; at this rate, we're basically just praying for good luck to save us.

For those "proposers," you need to understand that investing works exactly like a pyramid. The base is the widest part because that's where most entrepreneurs congregate—mostly because it's the easiest entry point. It requires the least amount of specialized knowledge, and the competition is absolutely cutthroat and ruthless because people in that tier can only survive by scraping by at the very bottom. Naturally, the margins are razor-thin. This segment is essentially "bottom-feeding," which is characteristic of underdeveloped economies.

As you move toward the top of the pyramid, the ideas become more innovative, competition thins out, earnings skyrocket, and the level of expertise required increases. The businesses become more sophisticated, and life becomes significantly easier. All the leading global powers have their populations concentrated in the upper half of that structure, yet from what I can see, we are still stuck at the bottom.

👍 Great post. Honestly, the best move for everyone would be to just open a local coffee shop, sit there, and pretend to be the boss. 😎 That’s the future right there. If you want proof of how this pyramid works, look at the processor industry—you’ve got AMD and Intel, and that's pretty much it. High technology, minimal (but healthy) competition, and they charge $1,000$667... all for about 30 grams of silicon, 2 grams of copper, and some trace elements. 😬 If anyone thinks it's easy, they should try building their own in a garage. Home made!

What would I actually do with a million bucks? Honestly, most of it would go straight toward women, booze, drugs, and fast cars. The rest? I'd probably just blow it all on whatever else catches my eye! 🙂
