David Parker3 said:Give the guy a break! How was he supposed to know? He was a soldier, not a psychic. He’s probably spinning in his grave right about now.

And where even is his grave? Who knows! Honestly, they probably just dug him up with a backhoe and dumped him somewhere along the I-95 construction route.😉

Alright, I put the question out there—so if you can make it happen, that would be awesome!
How do I change my username? in Forum Help! ·
Hey, is there any way to change the thread title?

When I first kicked this thing off, I was really trying to target house painters—but honestly, hardly any of them have popped up yet.

Since the whole thing has basically turned into a general advice hub, it’d look way cleaner if we just renamed it "House Painting Services."

Anyway, if it's possible, that would be awesome—if not, no biggie!
Starting a small business in Business, Accounting & Taxes ·
Anyway, I figured some of you might find this super helpful!

So, if you’re looking to start your own small business, the first thing on your checklist is getting a medical exam—and yeah, you’ve gotta pay for that yourself. You'll also need a photocopy of your ID, proof of your highest level of education, and a signed statement from your landlord giving you the green light to run your business at their location (just make sure it's notarized, obviously)!

Once you've got all that ready, just head over to the local Small Business Administration office in downtown Chicago and they'll walk you through filling out all the paperwork right there alongside you.

If you want to save yourself a massive headache and actually get some pro tips on setting up your shop, give this number a ring: 48 06 605. There's an incredibly sweet lady on the line who can explain everything to you in plain English.

High IQ and Narcissism: Fact or Fiction? in Psychology ·
Honestly, looking at the world, narcissistic types—if they aren't totally over the top—are usually just spoiled brats who grew up being told they were special. They end up staring at their own reflections thinking they’re some kind of divine gift sent to save humanity.

Of course, they think they’re top-tier in every single category. Sometimes they remind me of those old-school "know-it-alls" back in the day—you know the type, always acting like they've got a PhD in everything. Most of what they say is pure fiction, even if they try to act like it's fact. They love throwing around the term IQ to sound smart, clinging to it like a lifeline, but let's be real—their actual life skills are non-existent.

I actually ran into this guy recently who couldn't even pronounce basic words correctly—he was tripping over his own tongue! When I started laughing (and trust me, I couldn't help it, haha), he gets all serious with me. He goes, "Listen, you should realize that since my parents had me later in life, kids like me are born with massive brains and we can't even say R......................."😬 😬 😬

It is simply because the fools surrounding you—those who insist on whispering their nonsense in your ear—have successfully convinced you that you are lacking in intellect.🙂
Let’s be honest—we aren't going to lie to ourselves this time...🙂 It has been officially established—with scientific certainty, no less—that I am quite simply lacking in the intelligence department. It’s a verified fact... and frankly, science itself is starting to become a source of significant frustration for me. Okay?

Well, hey, you're still alive and kicking, right? So why even worry about it? You're gonna end up in the ground eventually whether you're a genius or a total airhead.😎

And look, if you were sitting there hoping someone would jump on you and enjoy making fun of your "lack of intellect," I can't really help you out with that—but maybe you should just start a whole new thread, something like:
"I'm a complete dummy, so please, just mess with my head." Because honestly, what else is there to say?😕
Schizophrenia - General Discussion in Psychology & Therapy ·
So, I’m looking back at the start of this thread and that very first post. Man, my poor old mom—she was a hard-working, honest soul, totally part of the old-school working class. After everything life threw at her—losing her job, then the absolute nightmare of the war, losing both her parents, and then having to actually witness their exhumation... well, seeing those remains just broke her. She had this massive breakdown and ended up in a mental health facility near Chicago for about two months. It happened again
right when I moved to the States and we hit some rough patches financially. Even though I stepped up and managed to sort things out, it didn't seem to help much.

That’s how I met Dr. Culav and the rest of the staff working those busy hospital hallways. I gave them heaps of tips—and even some actual cash—just to make sure they looked after her. It’s been about five years now, and she’s doing okay, as long as she keeps taking her meds. I should mention that I personally order some of her supplies from Switzerland, which costs me about $500 every month, on top of what the government covers. Those imported ones come in two little boxes.

From what I’ve gathered listening to the doctors, people suffer the most when they stop taking their damn pills. Being "unstable" doesn't mean someone is a coward or anything like that—it’s just that they simply don't have the strength to process everything they're feeling inside.

Anyway, just watching people around Washington, D.C., I’ve noticed quite a few folks talking to themselves, yelling, arguing, or crying in the streets. If they're walking around like that so openly, they clearly don't have anyone looking out for them. I don't know if anyone here has ever seen the wards where people stay at the psychiatric facility near Chicago, but I think it's pretty horrific. And honestly, the way "normal" people treat those individuals is awful too. Nowadays, anyone can label you crazy, or people claim it themselves just to get ahead somehow.

Regarding schizophrenia, some say it's hereditary, others say it's triggered by stress and stuff like that. Modern medicine still can't say for certain exactly how it starts or who is at risk. I personally know a public figure who—during a Red Bull and vodka phase—confessed to having been schizophrenic, but hey, she successfully finished college and built a real career.

I feel like times are getting pretty dark in that regard—people are withdrawing more and more, grinding away at jobs that pay peanuts, eating junk under massive stress, and doubting everything around them. I can't even go out for a decent meal without feeling like every cool spot is either packed or reserved for the preppy crowd.

I’m worried that when the "sobering up" period comes—when people realize they haven't achieved the things they dreamed of—there's going to be even more patients in the system. Looking at the folks close to us, like those hardworking farmers out in the Midwest—they have their struggles, but they keep pushing through, even though the whole thing feels like we're just working our entire lives just to die in the end.

It makes me wonder sometimes: what's the point of all the stress, the nerves, and the drama? Because one day, we might all just be sitting there, old and frail, asking ourselves the same question over and over: "Man, if only I could have just five more minutes of that life, those friends, and those moments I truly enjoyed."

It’s mostly just because all those idiots surrounding you keep trying to convince you that you aren't smart.🙂
High IQ and Narcissism: Fact or Fiction? in Psychology ·
I honestly think we’re all narcissists at heart—even if it's just in tiny little ways—it's just that most people are too stubborn to admit it. Honestly, IQ isn't even the main issue here; maybe if people actually understood their own brains better, they'd stop acting so clueless. You can define intelligence in a million different ways, right? I'm not trying to flex or anything, but I took a few tests and scored well above average. Back in school, math and physics were basically a breeze for me, but it wasn't until a few years ago that I realized my real sweet spot was combining creativity with logic. So, I pivoted everything toward my career, and man, the results have been incredible—I'm totally in my element now. Plus, it's kind of wild how fast I can take an idea from my head and actually make it happen, which usually leaves everyone else pretty stunned.
I just heard this hilarious joke about Americans.

So, a dad calls his son who's stationed over in Iraq:

"Hey son, how are things? I'm doing alright here—just wish you were home to help me dig up the garden! Your old man could use the hand!"

"Thanks, Dad! Doing good too—nothing much changing here in Iraq. Hey, since you're digging anyway, do you want me to tell you where to find 'that thing'???", the son asks.

"What thing, son???"

"You know... 'that thing' I buried last time I was back home."

Suddenly, the call cuts out because the secret service bursts into the old man's house! Three hours later, the dad finally gets back on the line.

"Son, what the heck happened?! Some guys just stormed in and tore up my entire garden!"

"Nothing, Dad... you did ask for some help, didn't you?"
I’ve gotta hand it to their military—up until age 45, I’ll tip my hat to them, seriously! But since then? Man, I’m just speechless. Honestly, I'm just waiting for them to finally show up and win an actual war they were part of—and don't even get me started on Panama, because that was just a joke.
What do you guys think of Joe Biden? in Close to Politics ·
Honestly, I feel like arguing about Mason is just a total waste of energy right now—the guy isn't even a bad dude! I mean, he actually stood his ground back during that old American Presidency era, and since he was part of the GOP, it totally makes it look like anyone who wasn't down with the party back then was automatically against America itself. It's such a weird way to look at things, right?

Maria Murphy said:"The majority"? That's only 1,454,451 votes out of 4,392,220 voters!

Honestly, it doesn't matter—the guy won a legitimate election, and I don't get why this number is even being brought up. You're probably factoring in the folks living abroad, but let's just move past that. Those of us actually living here are going to decide
our own future, just like we did back in '90.

Honestly, I highly doubt the White House is calling all the shots for a president who basically has zero real power left. The guy just handles the ceremonies and the usual formalities. You can't seriously be thinking we're still living in Francis's era where the president is treated like God himself, right? Just go ask the current administration or the Prime Minister if you don't believe me.

Well, the majority picked him again—so yeah, that whole story you're telling is basically just a fairy tale at this point.
