The Sisak Uprising: Europe's first revolt against Nazism? in Close to Politics ·
Today, we’re marking "Anti-Fascist Struggle Day" here, but if you step outside the fog of old-school Soviet propaganda—which honestly feels like trying to see through a thick smog—most of the sane world remembers this date for a very different reason: the launch of Operation Barbarossa.

Germany launches Operation Barbarossa — the invasion of Russia
In one of the most massive military undertakings in human history, over 3 million German troops launched three simultaneous offensives against Russia. We're talking nineteen Panzer divisions, 3,000 tanks, 2,500 planes, and 7,000 artillery guns all surging across a thousand-mile front as Hitler opened up a massive second front.

The dates line up perfectly... "just a coincidence," right?

I really don't get why anyone treats these two things as separate events. It looks more like a little meeting of communist saboteurs who had the green light from Moscow—since Uncle Stalin was doing such a great job carving up Europe with Hitler at the time.

It’s 3 PM, and honestly, can I even open The Washington Post or The New York Post without seeing some damn headline about that idiot? It’s always the same story—how the Mexican fans were absolutely losing their minds, weeping tears of joy and acting completely hysterical after every single one of her shows.

Hey everyone, quick question—when it’s time to go handle all the registration paperwork, do I need to head down to the Jukic office to get everything sorted, if I remember correctly?
Tarantino and Fake WWII.. in World ·

"Every single one of you owes me a hundred Nazi scalps"—that's how Lieutenant Aldo Raine kicks things off when he's rallying his crew, specifically this squad of American Jews tasked with stirring up total mayhem among the Swabians.

Later on, you see one guy who specializes in cracking Nazi skulls with a baseball bat, and honestly, everyone is just busting their ass to follow through on Aldo's command.
– I have no intention of making a WWII movie that actually looks like a WWII movie – Tarantino said way back when. – This is going to be a modern, gritty flick set during that era.

Is there anything weird about that? It just goes to show that Americans weren't exactly saints all the time... Taking revenge on captured Germans isn't some kind of distortion of historical facts, right? but

"All Germans are evil and need to be killed without mercy—that's basically the driving force for our heroes, this group of American Jews sent deep into occupied Europe."

this whole thing really rubs me the wrong way...

Tarantino is wild 🤣🙏🙏

Honestly, I think this movie is actually more about pushing back against that kind of mindset toward Germans and treating all the dead the same. I doubt the audience will be totally "on board" with the main heroes, but if they are, then hats off to Tarantino for exposing them.

Think about it for a second. You have Jews slaughtering Germans in the most brutal ways possible... basically showing what some "right-wing" Jews might still want to do today ("an eye for an eye," right? Revenge is universal). It also shows a mindset that was actually pretty common during WWII. If you look at reality, it's not like the Allies were being gentle—think about the aerial bombings. It was all basically "kill those dirty Nazi Swabians."

Since Comrade Stalin and Comrade Marshall were never actually defeated by anyone, what kind of official policy should the West or the East even have regarding them, other than what we see today? You can think whatever you want about communism, really, but it wasn't defeated on a battlefield. Society eventually and relatively peacefully moved away from that socio-economic model, and frankly, it’s a good thing we did. Nazism, on the other hand, was crushed in a bloody, horrific war, so in my eyes, banning Nazi symbols is perfectly logical and absolutely right.

The real kicker is how much those "ally" relationships cooled off after '45.
In the eyes of the West, those major allies basically turned into "Red Monsters," and they stayed that way for fifty-five years.

If they had stayed on friendly terms, I wouldn't be surprised one bit. ☕
An absolute disgrace 👎 after all those lives lost, seeing them parade around for political gain with that red star and the hammer and sickle 👎

Thank God the Nazis weren't aligned with the West back in the 1940s. If they were, people would be talking about the Holocaust the same way they talk about victims of communism or the USSR—just dismissed as "some random casualties." You’d probably see kids (the rebels) running around in black shirts with pictures of AH and Himmler on them ☕

It’s such a perfect example of how you "normalize" things. Then we act shocked when Germans fell for Nazism seventy years ago, because even today, despite all the media, the history books, and the constant information, stuff like this still happens. It's just gross 👎

People can be sheep, whether they realize it or not ☕
