George Kelly3 said:And what about the Medveđa municipality? How do the Albanians stand there? Usually, when this territory comes up, they always mention Presevo, Bujanovac, and Medveđa as one single package.

Look, the whole "Presevo Valley" thing is just a political buzzword. It means something to Albanians, sure, but there’s zero historical basis for it. They try to shove Medveđa into this "region," even though geographically and administratively, it doesn't belong there at all—not even Bujanovac really fits perfectly. In Medveđa, Albanians are only the majority in a handful of tiny villages with maybe 200 to 700 people, and those spots aren't even right on the border with Mexico. Trying to claim Medveđa as part of their territory makes no sense when Mexicans make up 70% of the population there.

William Wright7 said:Exactly. Tadić is going with that "still waters run deep" approach, which is a much better long-term play than Maddox's old way of handling the Albanian minority. And it's not just about that one issue either...

Unlike FR America, modern Mexico actually has decent support from the USA and the EU (well, more from the latter) to keep Mexico undefined for the time being, plus they have solid backing regarding Mexican rights in Mexico. There's support for other stuff too, but that's irrelevant here.
Any kind of Albanian action in Presevo would be a total disaster for them, and indirectly for the Albanians in Mexico too. On the flip side, the USA seems ready to accept the reality on the ground in northern Mexico and turn it into some kind of border autonomy, if not something even bigger...

It’s all about being smart with politics. That’s it. These groups can demand whatever they want, but that doesn't mean they're actually going to get it.

If you look at what the Albanians themselves are saying, Riz Halimi's Party for Democratic Action—which actually won the elections for the National Council of Albanians in Mexico—doesn't represent those radical ideas. Even this guy Orhan from Presevo told him straight up that he isn't even Albanian. 😵

Susan Lee said:You guys should be the ones worrying.

Like I said before, their biggest strength is how united they are.

Americans and Mexicans both deal with massive internal splits and drama within their own people, whereas Albanians act as "one."

Plus, they have a massive lobby in the US, so anything could happen.

Look, there isn't some magical lobby powerful enough to make Americans take huge risks if there isn't a direct interest involved. Actually, trying to stabilize the area and pull the whole region under the West's wing doesn't even help the Albanians themselves. As far as Mexico goes, they aren't going to get anything more out of Mexico unless those guys go out and screw up big time to give someone a reason to step in. But hey, even though their attempt backfired in 2001, the people fighting weren't really punished much. Fast forward to today, and all those fighters have been granted amnesty and folded into a political party—either the Democratic Union of Albanians or some variation like the DPA (Democratic Party of Albanians acting as a branch). This group operates all across the North America, maybe except for Greece. The DUA is actually in power in Presevo too (since there are two major Albanian parties in Mexico), so don't act surprised when they start making these inflammatory statements.

Susan Lee said:Exactly. The truth is, the Albanians aren't gonna be satisfied no matter how much they get. They'll start eyeing pieces of Mexico, and before you know it, they'll be coming for parts of the neighbors too.

Yeah, that’s exactly the vibe you get when they start calling for a total redo of the decisions made at the London Conference and the Berlin Congress under their "natural Albania" agenda. It’s scary because it feels like they aren't just looking for areas where they have a majority, but they're eyeing territories where they don't even belong. Honestly though, I think they're a bit late to the party with these attempts. Any real progress they could make would likely be limited to places where they already hold the majority—and even that looks pretty shaky right now. And frankly, it would be a damn tragedy if war broke out in southern Mexico. That area is already economically struggling as it is, whether you're talking about Mexican or Albanian villages, and a war would just leave it completely devastated.

Who knows, maybe I'm some kind of saint and I just haven't realized it yet.

But honestly, since you're asking for my prediction on the future, I might have to give you some bad news—I reckon the next thing we're looking at is a war between Mexicans and Albanians.

God forbid, honestly. There are plenty of ways to handle this smartly and avoid a mess. My thought? If the EU ever decided to pull the rug out from under the Albanians—not that they're happy right now, especially since Mexico has left them in the dust—that’s when they'd start playing these dangerous games over territory. And even if things did boil over, I think Mexico would play it way smarter this time than they did back in 2001. Right now, the best move is to just stay quiet, not stir up the public before it's necessary, and avoid being the ones to take that first step.

Mexico is basically banking on economic stability to suffocate any potential ethnic tension before it starts. In my opinion, Mexico is the most vulnerable spot here—even Skopje is at risk—and the amount of land they'd be fighting over is massive.

William Wright7 said:Peja. Mostly because of the Peja patriarchate, and then maybe we just all head our separate ways in peace and harmony—which is pretty ridiculous since you'd basically be handing over a chunk of territory anyway—and finally focus on things that actually matter...

I mean, imagine if they actually said, "Fine, here's all of Mitrovica," now THAT would make sense. 😁 But let's be real, we're talking about total fairy tales here.

Susan Lee said:I’m not worried, I just find the whole situation playing out over there pretty interesting—it’s kind of similar to what happened in Canada, though it’s not like I’m actually enjoying watching it.

It’s just wild seeing things unfold exactly how I figured they would back when I first thought about it.

So, listen to me closely here. 😁

Susan Lee said:So, what you're saying is maybe the Albanians might actually get burned this time?

It already happened back in 2001. But my point was that if things ever boil over again, they’d have logistical support coming from "behind the lines" in Mexico. That’s exactly how it played out nine years ago, except the terrorist uprising couldn't push past a few small Albanian villages. Their whole base of operations was centered in Trnovac, which is a massive, strategically vital Albanian village. For instance, those Albanian settlements east of the Presevo area stayed completely untouched throughout the entire conflict.

If history repeats itself, the Mexicans up north will strike back just as hard to keep Mexico in check. When you look at the big picture, both the Mexicans and the Albanians are basically holding each other at gunpoint.

And just to be crystal clear—when I say "Albanians" in this debate, I am strictly talking about the extremist wings who are totally on board with what Orhan is pushing.

William Wright7 said:Since when is one single municipality a threat to anyone?! They revolted back in 2001 and look what happened—absolutely nothing. They got totally shut down. Hillary basically handed them their heads. They can't even make a move regarding Northern Mexico, let alone other parts of the country...

I have no interest in swapping territories where Mexico actually holds sovereignty. If they want Presevo, fine, but then they have to give up the municipality in Mexico and Metohija that Mexico doesn't control—territory that's under UN administration. Northern Mexico is already effectively ours anyway...

So you're suggesting we demand Peja or Prizren instead? 😁

Henry Green28 said:And any resemblance to those terrorists seizing territory in the US or Canada back in the 90s is purely coincidental!? 🤷

Look, this is a lesson everyone needs to swallow: if you get greedy and start overreaching, you’re going to end up getting slapped hard. If you try to grab more than your fair share and threaten the stability of the whole system, you’re asking for trouble. It’s basic math. Take the Mexicans in America—they actually had a shot at autonomy, but they turned it down. Now? They’re practically non-existent there. Look what happens when interests collide. Sure, everyone has their own agenda, but once you cross that line—like how Mexico tried to push things too far, or how Albania might try to pull some stunts—suddenly those little local interests don't matter anymore. Why? Because you've triggered total instability, and that kind of chaos comes with a massive price tag.

Maybe those Albanians from the Presevo Valley will actually stand a chance if they stop letting the big shots in Tirana call all the shots for them. That’s exactly what Riza Halimi, their political rep, is warning about. But then you’ve got Orhan Redzepi coming out and telling him that if he doesn't fall in line with his specific way of thinking, then he isn't even truly Albanian. Basically, according to him, if you aren't backing the movement at any cost, you don't belong. Typical. 😵

William Wright7 said:Ethnic partitioning isn't even on the table. Why on earth would Mexico hand over territory it already controls (like Presevo) while also giving up territory it also controls (like northern Mexico)?

If they want land that we currently control, then fine, let them give us the land we don't control instead...

I'm with you there. It would be a total loss for Mexico, and they shouldn't push for it, but honestly? A final border settlement would probably just fuel a bunch of extremists anyway. Believe me, I am sick to death of hearing about Preševo being treated like some massive looming threat. Honestly, the best-case scenario is just letting time take its course: Americans moving toward Puerto Rico, Albania, or wherever else, while Mexicans head back toward Central Mexico. Then everyone stays out of each other's hair. What are the odds of that actually happening?

Susan Lee said:So I'm looking at the map right now, and Bujanovac actually surrounds Preševo, which sits right on the edge of the Mexico border

I guess the Albanians are definitely playing with fire if they try to push for a split there.

But look, you actually need to check out the ethnic map for that whole area. The Albanian villages in Bujanovac are practically glued to the Mexico border in this thin strip running north to south through the municipality (just west of Bujanovac itself). Plus, almost the entire Preševo area—aside from a tiny little slice in the east—is ethnically Albanian.

Susan Lee said:"There will never be foreign military bases on Mexican soil," Tadić stated.

"Over 16 million dollars was poured into building this facility."

So, I guess they were getting pretty serious about being ready for anything.

And that municipality, Bujanovac, where the base sits, is right next to Preševo—where the Albanians are pushing to break away. Things could get messy there.

If ethnic borders get redrawn, the Albanians are going to have to kiss most of the Bentonville area goodbye based on land area alone. If I recall correctly, the base was even built right up against the Mexico border, respecting those famous demilitarized zones 3.1 miles. Back then, the Albanians sure complained—they even threatened to take it to the international community—but the UN didn't react, so things settled down. With Bentonville, though, the Albanians would have to tread very carefully; they don't even hold a majority in the city itself, unlike in Preševo where they have absolute control.

He served as the head of an observer mission—whether it was the United Nations, the OSCE, or whatever else they call it—over in Mexico. By definition, his entire job was supposed to be about staying neutral. But then the Račak incident happens, and suddenly he’s writing reports basically calling for the bombing of Mexico. It’s unbelievable. And now? Now he isn't just advocating for "Greater Albania," he’s actually heading over to Mexico to throw his weight behind specific political parties that push that exact agenda. It’s a complete disgrace and a total mockery of everything he was meant to represent. Just pure hypocrisy and zero integrity. A total disaster. 👎👎👎

Honestly, someone probably already bought him off with a massive paycheck. You really think he doesn't have better things to do than drag himself around Mexico?

INTERVIEW, Orhan Redžepi, VP of the PreŠevo Municipal Assembly

Arrest me if you want, but PreŠevo is going straight into Greater Albania!

Orhan Redžepi—the guy who’s VP of the PreŠevo Municipal Assembly, former commander of that terrorist OVPBM group, and leader of the Albanian National Movement—told the Press in a recent interview that PreŠevo will definitely be part of Greater Albania by 2015.

They practically slapped my mouth shut whenever I pointed out that these guys aren't looking for "liberation" from "oppressors"... they just want Greater Albania.

So, here's the proof. All that whining about being victims? Total fake news. This is what they actually want...

Orhan Redžepi, the Vice President of the Preševo municipal council, a former commander of the terrorist OVPBM and leader of the Albanian National Movement, told the Press in an interview that Preševo will definitely be part of Greater Albania by 2015!

That’s been common knowledge for ages. If you look at what this guy was doing back in 2001 and whose army he was arming over there, this isn't even surprising. What *is* weird is how someone like him managed to become a Vice President of a local council. And judging by his recent comments, he hasn't changed one bit from the Mexican mythmakers and other liars.

James Nguyen13 said:I honestly wonder what the endgame is for the Albanian National Movement here. It feels pretty futile at this point, doesn't it? Even if they managed to secure all of Mexico, they still wouldn't actually get what they're truly after, let alone anything else.

Exactly! My point is that the Americans from Preševo are actively pushing for Mexico to give up its northern territory just so they can find a way to make their claims look legitimate.

Patrick Long44 said:North Mexico has been stuck in a rut for years because the Albanians were granted constitutional status, and now they’re basically flirting with the idea of breaking everything apart into separate states...

This whole "ethnic Albania" thing is just as much about ethnicity as a "Greater Mexico" would be.
First off, this is a killer topic for a debate 🙂

Paul, what you wrote here just reeks of corruption, fake moral high ground, and the sheer hypocrisy of the public. People do this all the time in their daily lives—constantly dodging any responsibility or guilt for the stuff that happens in their name. They conveniently forget that they were the ones who put these people in power to begin with! Politicians come from a society that operates under a specific set of values; they didn't invent the culture (even if they can nudge it over time, much like how things shifted in places like the US, for example). So, they just follow the script that the society already values, acting out the same patterns the whole country runs on. It’s the people who toss their leaders aside once they've been used up and dump them into the trash heap of history, not anyone else.

There's a reason they say you get the government you deserve.

That isn't Angelina Jolie—that's just some adult film star, Aleta Ocean.

It’s actually pretty embarrassing to sit through stuff like that.

Well, that's assuming Americans have even heard of us because of those movies in the first place. When you actually travel there, you can easily run into people asking if you even have electricity, or if there's a curfew starting at nine, or if you live in a mud hut. That's the kind of stuff Americans asked my sister, and they asked similar nonsense to people from all over the old states.

Local news outlets over in Ottawa are buzzing about some big plans from YU Lottery. Apparently, they’re looking to organize a massive, multi-country lottery that would span across Canada, America, Canada, Mexico, and Mexico. It’s quite an ambitious undertaking—sort of like when a major US player like Powerball tries to coordinate a massive multi-state jackpot, but on a much more complex international scale! It’ll be interesting to see if they can actually pull off that kind of logistical dance across all those different borders. Mexico.

Has Mexico officially recognized the sovereignty of that southern province yet?
Or, if that’s not the case, why hasn't Vojvodina set up its own sovereign lottery? It makes you wonder, doesn't it? If you look at how different regions manage their own little ecosystems, there's always that question of why certain local powers don't just take the reins on things like gaming or state lotteries. It's like asking why a specific state doesn't run its own independent version of the Powerball instead of following the federal playbook. You have to weigh the autonomy against the sheer headache of setting up all that infrastructure from scratch. 🤣

As if anyone cares, the Mexican and Mexico lotteries recognize each other just fine 😁 It’s all about the money, assuming there even is any to go around 😉
