End of life for Flash support in IT Support ·
So, I just opened up Chrome and was hit with this notification—apparently, they’re pulling the plug on Flash support by the end of the year!
What on earth is going to happen to all those websites built around Flash games? Even my own little site relies quite heavily on some Flash-based elements.
Does this mean sites like Flange are just going to vanish into thin air, or...
Windows Media Player won't play web videos in IT Support ·
I've gone ahead and managed to install windows 7
I also made sure to get VLC Media Player
And then—because why not?—I went ahead and installed media player codeck pack just to be safe!

Now, here is the thing: any video files I have saved locally on my hard drive play perfectly fine—not a single hiccup! But, the second I try to open a video from the internet (whether it's on YouTube or some other site), I get this annoying error message saying the player can't reproduce the file...

So, what on earth could be the issue here?

To clarify—web videos actually work just fine if I use different players (like PotPlayer, for instance), but I really need them to work in the default media player for a specific reason: I want to stream via Wi-Fi to my Smart TV—or rather, my receiver. My receiver can handle YouTube just fine, but when it comes to protected content, like music or certain videos, everything just stops working!

It’s no use—I’ve combed through every single folder on this thing, but absolutely nothing.

Just a quick question here
Does anyone know where exactly an Android phone stores its wallpaper files—you know, that specific photo used for the home screen?
I'm running Android 7.0.

Printers and ink: any recommendations? in IT Support ·
electricsurfer47 said:So, did you actually get it fixed???

Is it possible the issue is something else entirely?
Since you mentioned you swapped colors and still ran into trouble, I'm starting to think it's not an issue with the chips. It might be that the ink dried up right at the print head... might need to look into replacing the head itself.

Oh man, I completely blanked on getting back to you! The issue is officially sorted.
The whole mess started right when I was swapping out the thick black ink cartridge.
The weird thing is, once I popped the empty black one back in, the printer suddenly recognized the yellow and blue perfectly fine again.
Then I took a closer look at the chip on the new cartridge versus the old one, and they were totally different!
To make matters worse, I checked the box for the new ink and realized someone had pulled a fast one—the label on the box said one thing, but the actual cartridge itself said something else entirely. What a joke!
So, what did I do? I grabbed a hobby knife and carefully pried those little chips—or whatever they're called—off the old cartridge and transplanted them onto the new one... and wouldn't you know it, everything worked like a charm!
It turns out someone at the factory mispackaged the ink, and there I was, ready to drop a fortune on a whole new printer! Honestly, between a replacement printhead—if you can even find one—and my own labor, I probably would have spent more than just buying a brand-new machine.

My Canon printer was working perfectly fine just a few days ago—everything was smooth sailing! But then, out of nowhere, I get this error message claiming my yellow and cyan aren't matching up correctly. I actually went ahead and swapped in a different yellow cartridge I had lying around the house, but wouldn't you know it? Still getting the exact same error.
I won't even go into detail about the fact that these are third-party inks, but here’s the kicker: even though all my cartridges are off-brand, the machine isn't flagging them as "incorrect" ink types. It’s just... stuck.
I even tried a full driver reinstallation, thinking maybe Canon had decided to block me because I wasn't using their proprietary stuff—you know how these tech companies can be—but nope, that didn't fix a thing.
What on earth should I do now?

Problem solved!
After I finally got that Adobe Hotfix installed, everything is back to running exactly how it should be—smooth as silk!

But, looking over here on the forums, it seems like I’m not alone... apparently, quite a few other folks are still dealing with these headaches following the latest Windows update

Noah Miller6 said:It’s probably a good idea to grab .NET Framework 4, DirectX 9, and—if you ask me—the USSR package right after you finish reinstalling Windows 7.
And hey, maybe mention which software you're actually using next time? People might actually be able to help you!

It's Adobe Video Studio. I did a little digging on Google and think I found the culprit.
Apparently, there's some info floating around suggesting that after a Windows update, things just break because the OS starts blocking older platforms—basically trying to bully everyone into upgrading to Windows 10.
Well, Adobe released a patch to stop that from happening.

I actually ended up doing a full reinstall of my Win system just to get this program running again. Since I grabbed the version from a torrent, I had a hunch that Adobe might have blocked me—which usually happens when I launch the app while I'm connected to the internet (I try to be super careful about that, but sometimes it catches me off guard anyway!)
I haven't been able to test the fix yet, though, because I really need to scrub my PC clean of all these old installs—I've been cycling through so many different versions lately!
Once I get everything reinstalled, I'll let you know if it works. Thanks!

Help me out here!

So, I just finished reinstalling Windows 7—it was quite the ordeal—and now I’m deep in the middle of getting all my software back in order.

But here is the kicker: there is this one specific program that simply refuses to launch after installation.

Instead of opening, I get this incredibly unhelpful error message saying the program can't be opened and suggesting I "look for a solution on the internet" or just close the application entirely. Can you believe the nerve of that?

The thing is, everything was working perfectly fine before I wiped the drive and did the reinstall. I had actually uninstalled and reinstalled the program itself a few times prior to the OS reinstall, and it worked like a charm then—so why is it acting up now?

Does anyone have a clue what might be causing this?

Is it possible I'm missing some sort of essential framework or perhaps a specific runtime package? If so, which one should I be looking for?

So, I went ahead and did a fresh install of VideoStudio, but here’s the kicker—I’ve been digging through the settings and I absolutely cannot find any webcam options anywhere!

Now, is that something you know for a fact from experience, or is it just a hunch?
In the meantime—and I did this just to be absolutely certain—I went ahead and uninstalled Adobe Premiere entirely to see if it was indeed the culprit (honestly, I was even prepared to hunt down an older version of Adobe just to troubleshoot!). And wouldn't you know it? As soon as I wiped it from my system, the camera started working perfectly again!
I was actually starting to worry that the hardware itself had simply given up the ghost due to old age or something similar—but then again, if that were the case, it wouldn't work in any other programs, right?
I even ran some tests on those various online webcam testing sites, and everything looked fine there, and even my WhatsApp calls on the PC were working without a hitch.
The only real headache is when I try to stream to YouTube or Facebook—that's where the trouble starts.

William Barrett9 said:Is there a viable alternative?

Oh, believe me—I’ve certainly looked into other options! But honestly? None of them strike that perfect balance of being incredibly intuitive yet still packing such a massive punch.
And besides—it’s not just about the software itself; I have poured countless hours—actually, years!—into mastering this specific program... and let me tell you, jumping headfirst into learning an entirely new suite from scratch isn't exactly a walk in the park, is it?
Webcam issues in IT Support ·
I’ve run into a bit of a snag with my webcam, and honestly—I’m still scratching my head trying to figure out how to fix it.

The culprit behind all this trouble seems to be Adobe Premiere
And here is the kicker: even when I don't have the software running, I keep getting this nagging error message claiming that another application is already hogging the camera feed!
I have been digging through the settings in Adobe—searching everywhere, really—but I just cannot find any option to block it from seizing control.

Now, I am fully aware that the "easy" fix would be to just uninstall the program entirely, but that isn't an option because I actually need it for my work.

So, does anyone happen to have a suggestion for a less painful way to deal with this software?
Google security alerts in IT Support ·
Ever since I switched over to home Wi-Fi, I've been getting these constant, nagging security warnings from Google that are driving me absolutely up the wall!

I actually went ahead and posted a question about this OVER HERE, but honestly? I didn't get a single helpful or concrete answer from anyone there.

Rather than typing out the whole saga all over again—because, let's be real, who has the time?—just click this link

Now, maybe there's some genius lurking in here who doesn't even use home internet and therefore couldn't care less, or perhaps the issue isn't strictly tied to being on a home network at all... who knows?

I actually gave it a whirl in Mozilla too, but... well, nothing changed! It’s the exact same headache.
I can't help but wonder if there's some sort of invisible tether linking my mobile account to the one on my PC? But honestly, how would that even work?

I can’t seem to get this edit to work—so, naturally, I’m stuck starting an entirely new thread.

Well, I decided to try a little experiment to see if I could outsmart the system!

So, here is the situation: I have two different Google accounts, right? And when I attempt to start a stream using the account that *isn't* linked to my phone, everything works perfectly fine—no hiccups at all!

But—and here is the kicker—when I switch back to the account that actually matches my mobile device, that same annoying error message just keeps popping up over and over again!

Has anyone managed to crack this code yet?
Maybe this little discovery will shed some light on the situation.
I’m actually attempting to get a stream up and running directly from my phone today—just to test the waters
And wouldn't you know it, I can successfully start the stream via mobile
Is it possible there's a specific setting buried somewhere where I need to manually select which camera to use? Does anyone have any clue where that toggle might be hiding?

Hi everyone—I’m reaching out because I’ve hit a bit of a wall and I’m hoping someone here might have a clue how to fix this.

So, here is the situation: I’m trying to start a YouTube live stream, right? But every single time I attempt to go live, I get this nagging notification popping up telling me that the webcam is inaccessible because another application is already using it.

It is incredibly frustrating! I feel like I’ve tried absolutely everything under the sun, but I just cannot figure out which elusive little app is hogging my camera.

Does anyone know—and please, if you have any ideas, let me know—how I can actually identify which specific program is camping out on my webcam? The strange thing is, there isn't even a single program visibly open on my desktop!

P.S.

The weirdest part? When I try to do a live stream over on Facebook, it works perfectly fine without any of these headaches.
