The IRS application certificate used within the production environment for the fiscalization system was renewed today, October 4, 2016. It is currently available for download on the FINA website (specifically under the section labeled 'NEW RDC 2015 CERTIFICATES (SHA-256) – certificates issued from 12/07/2015') as well as on the official IRS website right here.
Since there are now two valid certificates available for download, I suppose it’s important to pay close attention to the expiration dates; we have the currently active one which expires on November 11, 2016, and then there's this new one that was just renewed today, which won't actually kick in until November 11, 2016.
I just clicked on the link where it says "download here," and since I'm running my fiscalization through Synesis, I was wondering if I might need to update anything within the Synesis settings regarding the certificate, or if I can just leave things as they are?
This is actually my first time dealing with a tax refund, but it looks like they’re going to credit it toward my future tax periods rather than sending me a check, so I won't be getting an actual payout. When I'm filling out my VAT return at the end, should I mark the "prepayment" box to account for this?
I've been wondering, which version of Java am I actually supposed to be using here... does anyone know? Should I stick with the older one or go for the latest release? I tried following the prompt to install the newest version, but now everything seems to be acting up and nothing is working quite right. It feels like we’re all just being forced to pay for these updates eventually, which I suppose is exactly what they want us to do 🙄
So, which version of Java am I actually supposed to be using here?
I get to that little Java pop-up window where the 'RUN' option appears, and then everything just completely freezes up on me; I can't move or do anything else at all. I try calling tech support, but it seems like every single agent is busy. I'm running into this exact same issue when I try to test my digital signature too.😢
I can definitely relate. From last Friday until yesterday, I was pulling my hair out trying to sign some BlackRock docs and a few PDF attachments. I was running Java 8.73 on IE 11 with Windows 7. The system tests passed perfectly, but the actual digital signature would never go through. Everything worked fine a month ago, and I haven't changed a single setting on my computer since. I went down the rabbit hole of reading manuals, tweaking settings, and searching forums to fix it myself. The test would pass, but the actual submission would just hang on that loading icon for hours. Finally, I tried installing a newer version of Java, but then even the test wouldn't pass. I read online that the new version wasn't compatible, so I uninstalled it, went back to the old one, and basically gave up on fixing it myself. On Tuesday, I reached out to Bloomberg, and a lovely lady walked me through every possible technical fix you can imagine, but nothing worked. In the end, after all that headache, she emailed me a local signing module to install and a new link, and only then did the form finally go through.
So... yeah.
Now, the "RUN" option pops up and everything just freezes completely... it's enough to drive anyone a little crazy.
I'm currently trying to submit my GFI-POD. I reached the signing stage and clicked through, but now I've just been staring at a loading wheel spinning on my screen for about ten minutes... I suppose I'm wondering if this is somewhat normal? Could it perhaps be a congested network issue? Or, I guess, is it even okay that the loading icon popped up in the first place?
The employee brought in her medical certificates, so we went ahead and emailed them over to the state unemployment office just to be safe.
We currently pay her social security contributions based on the minimum wage, and I was wondering if I should reduce those payments to account for those few days she was out on sick leave? I suppose that for any sick leave lasting up to thirty days, I should probably just continue calculating the contributions as if she had been working normally, right?
I was wondering, would I be required to notify the State Department of Labor if one of my employees is out on sick leave for just a few days? Also, I suppose it might be necessary to ask whether they are obligated to provide me with a formal doctor's note to cover those absences?
fairy wings said:It should happen; it’s Monday morning, so I truly believe you’ll have it by tomorrow. During our peak season, we often see these things take four or five days while everyone is filing worker registrations all at once.
I really hope it comes through by tomorrow, because I have an eight-day window to get this application over to the IRS, since it involves professional training without establishing a formal employment relationship. I did send an email to my contact there, hoping they might be able to process it sometime today.😛
I submitted a request a few days ago to have an employee's paperwork processed by today, but I haven't seen any updates yet. As of right now, the request status is still just showing as "received." I guess I'm wondering if anyone might know when I could realistically expect it to actually be processed?
I was wondering if I actually need to include the training contract along with my application, plus that official approval notice from the IRS? Or is it possible that I don't need to attach any of those documents to the filing at all?
Brenda Chase3 said:Just to build on what Larry Edwards3 was asking... You can actually submit your Social Security application ahead of schedule. Just make sure you list your official start date as November 16th; they’ll simply hold onto it and process everything once that specific date rolls around. That way, you aren't stuck waiting until the 16th just to hand in the paperwork. As for getting an email notification from Medicare, you'll only receive one if you've already set up your online portal access and are fully registered in their system. If you haven't gone through the steps to register for those digital services—meaning you haven't submitted your credentials yet—they won't send you an email because they don't have your contact info or know where to reach you. So, what Terry Rodriguez17 mentioned is accurate, provided you're already active in the electronic healthcare system. If you haven't set up that digital access, you won't get an email notification even though they'll automatically enroll your employee under health coverage. However, since you won't have a digital copy of the filing for your own records, it's usually recommended to handle things in person so you can walk away with a physical copy in hand.
I already have my online portal access all set up and activated. That is wonderful news if I can indeed file before November 16th! I honestly had no idea, so thank you so much for letting me know.
Terry Rodriguez17 said:If the Contract says they start on 11/16/2015, then you register them for 11/16. Not a day sooner, not a day later. You file with NOAA, and they'll automatically get added to Medicare. You should get an email confirmation from Medicare within a week—though, honestly, sometimes I get mine in two days and sometimes it takes seven. It's hit or miss.
And what about health insurance? I guess, if I go ahead and file my retirement paperwork, does the registration with Medicare happen automatically, or is there some extra step I need to take?
I just received approval from the IRS regarding my request to bring someone on for professional training without setting up a formal employment relationship. We actually sat down and signed the Contract today, so I was wondering, when should I go ahead and report this to NOAA? Should I get that done immediately, or maybe wait a bit? According to the paperwork I got back from the IRS, the official start date for the training is set for November 16, 2015.
Matthew Cruz41 said:Are you guys seeing any movement on those SNU forms? Mine have just been sitting there marked as "received" since late July 🙄 I had every intention of cleaning up all these messy, disconnected payments and paperwork while things were slow, but it looks like nothing is moving until September. Meanwhile, employees won't stop asking about their tax refunds because the IRS told them they can't get anything back until all the payments are properly reconciled 🤦
It’s actually similar for me; my adjustment request from July is still showing as pending, even though it’s already been accounted for on my main payroll card (I had an overage, so I just applied it toward interest). Since everyone is out on vacation right now, I suppose it’s no surprise that things aren't exactly being updated in real-time...
I haven't actually submitted anything for this year or even last year... we're just a small-scale startup, so I guess I wasn't entirely sure if we were even supposed to participate or not. To be honest, they didn't ask us for any documentation last year either, so maybe it isn't strictly necessary for businesses our size.
I had a quick question for anyone who has been submitting their GFI public disclosures through the e-fine portal lately. When you go back to review the documentation you've already sent off and you happen to open one of those non-standard files, does the actual PDF show up without a signature on the document itself? I was wondering if that's actually how it’s supposed to look, or if maybe I've missed a step somewhere.
