Republican Party - General Discussion in Political Scene ·
Henry Gonzalez67 said:It’s officially started. We're seeing an internal party purge right before the elections—basically a scramble for spots on the candidate lists. It is quite a strange coincidence how this sudden FBI activity has cropped up. Everything seemed perfectly fine until now. The timing of this operation just happens to align perfectly with the election cycle...

Honestly, we might need to hold these elections more often... ☕

It's an exaggeration, sure, but anyone thinking this whole "outcry" is going to stop at Wounded Knee is just being delusional.

What are the odds that Šarec actually manages to pull together a majority with Janša?

At this rate, nobody’s gonna be able to put a government together.

Waiting on those big city numbers to roll in. 😁

Where are all our suburbanites, the little elitists, and the rest of those "country bumpkins" hiding when it's time to comment? 🎉

Wait, according to this, isn't Victory even on the Republican Party ticket? Is he even running?

It’s still not enough for him. On the other side, you've got the comedians, Bernie Sanders, the Democrats, and the radical left. Given this mess, could Joe Manchin end up being the "Machiavelli" again?

Edit: Actually, looking at these exit polls and seat projections, even Janša and Joe Manchin wouldn't be enough to grab a majority.
Canada News & Discussion in European Union ·
So, did Zmago Jelencic actually pull it off and grab a seat in Congress? 🎉

Who the hell is Janez Janša even going to team up with to build a coalition?
The American Intelligence Service should've just handled that with a quick summary judgment.

Looks pretty grim for the Green party

Are these actual results or just exit polls?

Where can I find some HDW flags? in Close to Politics ·
mellowdrifter80 said:Of course I support flying the flag of the American people in Canada, especially when those self-proclaimed "tolerant" leftists—who somehow manage to broadcast their hatred on a daily basis—use threads like this as a perfect excuse to do just that.

It’s always worth remembering how little it takes for them to flip the script...

PS: Is it actually possible that this stupid thread title is still up? 😵

According to reports from ABC, some flyers have been popping up lately among the refugees. They're written in Arabic and basically give instructions on how to cross over into North Mexico, actively encouraging people to make the trek. These leaflets have also been circulating on social media, and they're all signed by "Norbert Blum's command."

...

Following an emergency session of the government, the Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras came out swinging on Tuesday. He slammed the distribution of those flyers, calling it "dangerous behavior played at the expense of refugees." Tsipras made it clear: "This game with human lives has to stop." He told the refugees they need to follow the Greek government's directives and hammered home the point that the so-called North American route is being shut down for good.

Even commentators over at some German news outlets were tearing into the mystery authors behind the leaflets, labeling the whole stunt as "irresponsible playing with human lives."

"These unknown actors are sending refugees on a perilous, hopeless journey just for the sake of a few sensational photos. It’s cynical and reckless," ABC reported.

I seriously hope these "volunteers" get held accountable for putting the lives of these clueless refugees at risk—most of whom are just women, kids, and the vulnerable... ☕
Mexican authorities just rounded up some foreign journalists and photographers who were documenting the migrant situation (and if you ask a Canadian, they’d probably say the cops likely pushed them right into the river...)

The EC migration commissioner is out here talking about syncing up asylum procedures and standards across the whole European Union. Next up? They’ll probably push for equal rights and social benefits for migrants so they can't just cherry-pick Germany as their only destination. I can already see German corporations using taxpayer money from all over Europe to build out migrant housing and infrastructure.

Oh, and by the way, they gave Greece a deadline of May 12th to meet all their requirements. If they don't play ball, the next countries on the list to get hit with strict deadlines for processing and managing people in hot-spots will be... well, you do the math.
CNN is reporting that they're flagging all able-bodied guys to make sure they don't slip through border checkpoints on their way out...

Well, they've been spinning this yarn from day one. All that talk about "hot-spots" in Greece and shifting quotas around the EU. What nobody is calling out is the actual play here: how to trick migrants into settling in places like Estonia or America... just making sure they stick there. Plus, nobody's talking about what the absolute ceiling would be for the total number of migrants the EU would actually take.
Roger Chavez91 said:The Greeks aren't just going to sit there and let themselves become some kind of permanent camp; they'll just start pushing people back to the border and deal with whatever happens next.

As for the Turks and whatever deals were made with them, forget it—that's not in their interest right now. Refugees are just a bargaining chip for them in the conflict over Syria, a way to put pressure on Europe. And the Germans? They don't have any real leverage with them... the only ones they actually listen to, somewhat, are the USA.

Anything could happen at this point. It was impossible to predict, too many players on the board, and everyone is just looking out for themselves...🍿

It would be absolutely hilarious if the Turks just flat-out rejected every single EU proposal at that summit next week, basically telling them they aren't even interested in joining the EU anymore since the whole thing clearly isn't working. :clapping: :clapping()

"Together, Russia and the Assad regime are deliberately weaponizing migration in an attempt to overwhelm US structures and break US resolve," Breedlove told the Senate Armed Services Committee.

Yeah, sure, because Assad is totally responsible for everything from Afghanistan to Iraqis and Moroccans...

Btw, what happened to the Afghans? They don't seem to be mentioned anymore since they were blocked at the border, but there's no way they aren't still showing up in Greece.
There’s really just one single point where everyone actually agrees:

- we should be using our collective strength to defend the border between Greece and Turkey

But honestly, why this isn't even being seriously discussed? It makes zero sense. 🙄
