Harold Bennett86 said:Does anyone know if I can head back home from Washington, D.C. to Cleveland without that magic pass? My registered residency is in D.C. until November, but my permanent home is in Cleveland. I just got permission to work remotely—mostly office stuff—so I’d really like to work from home in Cleveland instead. Do I still need a pass for a situation like this?

You can return to your permanent residence without a pass.
vividranger8 said:So, to avoid any weird drama with these checkpoints, I headed down to the Police Department this morning to try and register my current address. But nope—registration is totally off the table right now because there isn't a soul working at the Ministry of the Interior; everything is just shut down indefinitely. I asked the officer at the info desk (who was literally the only person there) what I should even do if I get pulled over while my official residence is listed somewhere else. And get this—the cop just goes, "Well, they know registration isn't possible right now..." Like, seriously!?

It’s pretty wild that even the online registration system isn't working either. I guess the folks at the Ministry of the Interior think this virus attacks computers too...

They've lost it.

Bryan Jones82 said:Well, they basically did exactly that! They cut the trams that were mostly empty anyway, scrapped the regular buses, and brought in these special shuttle buses that are absolutely packed every single day:

Idiots!!!
Nothing else to say here.

Frank Flores63 said:I honestly believe there are more people in my exact shoes right now—trying to get a permit and then just sitting around waiting (to be specific, I’ve been waiting since yesterday morning; they promised it would be sorted out sometime yesterday, but still nothing) just so we can grab some groceries and head to the doctor. My doctor is in a different city from where I actually live. Between the bank and the grocery store, it's all a massive headache.

Same here. At least we were allowed to hit Walmart before heading to Suburban City without a permit, but for Suburban City, we definitely need one.
I'm lucky enough to have most essentials right here in my Municipality, but it still ticks me off knowing how many people are in a much, much worse spot than I am.
My doctor is in Washington, D.C., too, though I handle most things over the phone anyway.

That is precisely where the issue lies. This measure has made life incredibly, incredibly complicated for everyone living out in the rural areas.
They really need to just shut down the cities, the islands, and the entire counties. They need to find some actual logical checkpoints because right now, this is an absolute disaster.

Exactly.

It’s an incredibly unfair move.

Supposedly, returning to your home base is fine.

Like, officially heading home to my old stomping grounds. Is it actually going to be fine for me to just show up and head home, or am I gonna run into some kind of drama?

I read somewhere that you're allowed to return to your primary residence.

My local bureaucrats, the civil servants, and the cops are actually turning out to be way sharper than the folks running the show in D.C. They basically cut a deal with the police department to take control over everything that falls under local precinct jurisdiction. Smart move.👍

In my neck of the woods, you get one major city and two surrounding suburbs, and honestly? You’ve got more than enough space. You don't need anything else.

They set up a whole form for everyone else to fill out, put it online, and even opened a dedicated email address just for it. Real efficient.
They went through everything and kept it super detailed. Pretty solid breakdown. 🙏

An employer's note works too. But obviously, it needs to cover the actual route—like your commute from home to the job site or wherever you're headed. That's the key.

Which city and townships are we talking about?
I don't think this thread is the place for an endless debate over private versus public sectors.
rustywalker42 said:Residence doesn't matter when you actually have to be at your legal address.

I totally get you.

He’s talking about legal residence versus just staying somewhere.
Technically, a temporary residence should work. But right now, they aren't even letting people register a temporary residence.
Jacob Kern2 said:And for what reason might that be?

If this were directed toward me, I would certainly disagree.

Exactly.
I asked, I called the FBI, we even tried through some connections—nothing. No chance.

They only rush emergency documents; residency permits aren't on the priority list.

Fitzgerald said:I’d love to see some actual fines handed out. Maybe then people would finally realize how many local municipalities have popped up lately—it feels like every tiny little town thinks it’s its own kingdom now.

The other issue is the lack of clarity regarding what "place of residence" actually means. Some interpret it as the municipal boundary, while others clearly think it refers to a specific street address 🙂. I highly doubt the latter was the intention; that would basically turn this into a 24-hour police state where some clerk at the IRS (most folks there are decent field agents, or should be, rather than just paper-pushers) decides whether I'm allowed to go to the grocery store.

I just printed my own pass on company letterhead and now we’re stuck waiting for official guidance. Luckily, it's snowing, so nobody's really looking to get out on the road anyway.

In my case, my PLACE OF RESIDENCE covers the ENTIRE COUNTY (Burdette). That means every single township within the county limits.
That should be the standard for all municipalities. At least, that’s what they confirmed to me in writing.

Sure, there’s a fee involved. But honestly, you get way more bang for your buck with the Premium

I didn't even receive it.

Instead, they approved some revolving credit line I never even asked for; all I wanted was the cash advance.

Man, this feels like it happened a century ago.

I headed over to the bank regarding a mortgage loan.

I used to have a Walmart card back in the day—what specifically are you asking?

That installment thing was handled through a debit card.

Wait, I just realized! First they were just asking for proof of address and fund verification or whatever, but now it won't even show me that—it's just showing what you mentioned.

I can blow through that kind of cash in a month if that's what it takes.

PayPal just rolled out a Klarna option. At certain retailers, you can get a single purchase up to $200 refunded immediately and then settle the bill 14 days later—zero interest.
Some of the merchants included are Amazon and Expedia.

A sweet little deal.
