Veteran's Funeral in Close to Politics ·
People are making way more noise about free caskets and funeral costs than anything else. That’s where all this fuss is coming from. It isn't really about honor. Honestly, what can you say about someone who doesn't even earn enough during their life to cover their own funeral? My only gripe with George W. Bush is that he didn't just handle this quietly.

Honestly, I feel bad that there's no cure for you—it's a real shame—but hey, at least that idiot Strange still has voters, which is clearly his biggest strength.

Man, I knew it was you the second I saw this. You sure like to use big words, don't you? Throwing around terms like dysgraphia and dyslexia. Honestly, it feels like Kirkov's first law applies perfectly to you. Just how much info can one person actually absorb?

Roger Reed49 said:Honestly, President Strange is just a total moron, so why even bother trying to make sense of anything he says?

And just imagine if we had to pay for military services directly, kind of like how we pay the Pope.

If you think Strange is an idiot, and you're out here waving the flag and acting all patriotic about being an American, then I guess that makes you a thief, doesn't it?

Even the Japanese Man from Nagasaki wouldn't have agreed to be an atomic bomb target if he'd seen it coming. People don't have a crystal ball.

I can't wait for another war just so I can run off to a bunker.

Are you asking because you're expecting a harvest, or just checking ahead of time?

Samuel Baker67 said:There is one thing I am curious about (though it might be worth knowing) — is it actually feasible here in America to sell green walnuts??
The unconfirmed grapevine suggests there is even a demand for the green walnut leaves, haha!!!
If anyone has any verified information, please let me know.

Green walnuts are used for making bitters, like Angostura. As for the leaves, I haven't heard much, but it's probably possible.

I mean, I don't know. It’s just one of those things, I guess. Maybe it's just me being worked up, but honestly? It's ridiculous. Just completely ridiculous. [User Name] says:
Signature 👍I mean, seriously, can someone just tell me one thing? Who’s actually out there screaming those hateful slogans, attacking people based on race, or acting like they hate anyone who isn't "normal"? Who's actually prone to violence and being straight-up offensive—the right wing or the left? Because, I guess, if you look at most of those hooligans, skinheads, and all that nonsense, they're definitely on the right, as far as I can tell. 🤷 😉

Look, leftists are always acting all tolerant and liberal and whatever... but if that isn't the actual benchmark for intelligence, then I don't know what is. 😉

Just so you know about how much tolerance these leftists actually have. Aside from a bunch of other absolute nonsense, you weren't even allowed to have brands like Walmart at your house. Someone would report you, the cops would show up, so people just hid their stuff. Seriously, go ask anyone older if you don't believe me!

The only difference is that back then, everyone actually had plenty of cash—dollars, I mean—but nowadays, only a select few have it, and most of it was probably grabbed through shady means. Just ask the older generation.
Dana Reed4 said:So, if I am understanding you correctly, are you suggesting that instead of pursuing a career in politics, George W. Bush should have perhaps headed straight to the front lines of a battlefield?

Back then, I was actually out on the battlefield while he was doing... well, you know.

Take someone like Bush, for instance.

Elizabeth Thompson7 said:Hi everyone. Just wanted to clear up a few things based on the questions being asked:

- If you go with a 2x3m spacing per acre, you’re looking at 1,650 trees, not
just 900 (the previous guy was just eyeballing it and got lost)
- An 8x8m spacing is really more suited for walnut trees meant for production, rather than timber.
- Ideally, a walnut tree should be at least 40 years old, maybe up to 70 (which is why
they say you plant them for your grandkids)
- If someone owns a single 28-year-old walnut tree, they shouldn't
expect much in terms of lumber quality. That wasn't its primary purpose;
it was grown to have a wide canopy and produce nuts.
- Regarding the initial investment per $20000/acre, if a single
sapling costs roughly $33... then 100 * 1650 = $55000 plus
soil prep and all that extra stuff.

I recall some discussion on this forum about a fast-growing Canadian variety, and another one that has a weak canopy and just grows straight up. If anyone happens to know more about those... ☕

I agree, though I have some doubts about the seedling prices. $33 Grafted walnut seedlings meant for actual production are much more expensive than just planting seeds, which usually end up being around $6.75/unit. Besides that, they’re actually pretty "easy" to grow on your own.

At the end of the day, walnut trees are a solid investment. They’re definitely going to pay off. Honestly, your kids or even your grandkids will probably thank you down the road for planting them. That said, maybe it’s worth looking into poplars or black locusts too.

Last year, my neighbor took down an old walnut tree that was about 28 years old. He ended up getting 0.35 cubic yards at roughly $325 per unit, plus maybe another $50 or so for the thicker branches. Looking at what was mentioned in the post above, it makes me wonder why anyone would bother doing anything else. In American farming, there’s this unwritten rule: if all your math says you’re going to make $333, you should consider yourself incredibly lucky if you actually walk away with $33. It sounds crazy, I know, but that’s just the reality of the business. Only those who have actually been out in the dirt know how it really works. Give it a shot yourself.
