What is the meaning of it all? in Philosophy ·
DJ_Beli12 said:Do you ever wonder... what is the point of life?
I have been thinking about something similar lately—what is the actual purpose of our existence in this world? People are born, go to school, get degrees, accumulate wealth, enjoy themselves, work, help others, break laws, show off, age, leave behind children, share their opinions, and eventually die. Some would argue we do all this so our kids have a better life, or just to make our own lives more comfortable, but to what end? We enjoy ourselves now, sure, but what does it matter when there is nothing left after death? Some might say you live on through your reputation... but for what? In a million years, nobody is going to remember some random person or even a Nobel winner or osama bin laden. What is the point of any of it if neither we nor anyone else gets anything out of our living once it's over? In the end, we just experience various highs and lows, but why bother? It feels like it doesn't matter whether we are good or bad, since we are all the same throughout eternity, and our individual lives are just a tiny, fleeting fraction of that forever.

Man, what a joke.😛 You can't expect anything more than zero creativity or spirituality from this mess.👎

Honestly, that final foolish act doesn't worry me one bit, but it is what it is.🙂

I'm mostly just worried about making the same dumb mistakes down the road.😁😁

In my view, you can't actually build integrity without messing up while you're coming of age. Otherwise, you just end up being a boring, old fool.🙂

Once you train the people around you to expect you to act like an idiot, you're finally immune to their criticism. You stop letting others define who you are.

It’s actually a wonderful feeling. No bitterness involved.

That is what we call integrity.🙂

isn't that just beautiful?😉

Well, if there isn't any bitterness behind that conclusion, I agree—it's beautiful.👍

Like I said before, I was pretty worked up at first, but now I couldn't care less. I think I've finally developed an immunity to my own stupidity.😁 🎉

Walking through mud might be foolish, but stepping in it is just being careless, as befoodturntoshit puts it.

Taylor Swift, watch your step.😉

Over time, I've learned that you can only look foolish in front of others. In my own mind, I just take a moment to appreciate it and say, "Well, Dragica fly, thank God you made a fool of yourself, because He just gave you a chance to see exactly how big your mistake was!"😁

That's the thing. I doubt actual fools ever realize they're being foolish.🙂

I rarely make mistakes myself, though people frequently try to make me look stupid. I don't let them. 🙂

Bradley Fisher20 said:To possess is to exist.

Every individual is a microcosm of immense value, representing exactly how we imagine the world ought to function.

So where is the disconnect? We often fail to honor that inherent richness because we handle life's defining moments with negligence. Life moves quickly, leaving behind memories we don't fully grasp until later. When we look back, we realize we missed the chance to truly live out certain values—opportunities that will never return. People often have everything they need right in front of them, yet they lack it all due to laziness, fear, or a failure to recognize the ethical weight of a moment. Instead of taking the easy way out, they could choose to uphold a principle that can only be exercised once.

To truly possess something means having the moral clarity to accept people and their diverse worlds without pride or fear. It means looking straight ahead with an open heart rather than turning away.

Bradley Fisher20, that is my take on possessing as a way of being.

We definitely need to talk and investigate, but the hardest part is looking at something new with genuine curiosity instead of bias.

All I can do is stay focused on his four-legged movement; on his tilted...

Right, the little guy had ten legs. ☕

Haha, Slav, one of these days I’ll say a few words about celery... as for the chili, we already know all there is to know (we feel it).😁 😉
Today I am feeling a bit😢 and just lack the motivation..

But I will make up for it with the first opportunity, I promise..

So, the celery has withered away.😢 I didn't toss it out; instead, I'm keeping that shriveled thing right in front of my face as a reminder of how much I neglected its needs.👎

And the chili? Hahaha. In all my carelessness—the jar even fell out the window, yet somehow it's still full of flowers and fruit.🙂 We found our balance.😁

Illegal said:Hmm. What even is hatred? Why does it exist? To what end?

Hatred is an intense emotion driven by hostility and the desire to see someone suffer.

It is a sickness of the spirit and the direct opposite of love. I haven't personally dealt with such a condition, so I can't say why it happens, but doctors should probably look into it.

Bradley Fisher20 said:Affection can easily turn into hatred.
...

It is interesting how this false claim has become accepted as truth after being repeated so many times.🙄

What turns into hate isn't love; it is possessiveness masquerading as love.

Love and hate are too far apart to ever truly meet or be exchanged for one another.😎

Rachel Bishop, what are your thoughts on this?😉

geza said:I personally resonate with what Étienne Surio said: "An artist seeks to create a singular, unusual being whose only purpose is its own existence. The concept of beauty can actually distract from the creative process; an artist isn't chasing 'beauty' or any other set category. They are pursuing that specific world which the work itself becomes."

I believe the drive to perceive nature and its phenomena is identical for both the artist and the philosopher. The divergence lies solely in how they interpret those observations. An artist takes what the senses gather and processes it exclusively through the spirit. This inevitably leads to a confrontation with the spirit of whoever views, hears, or experiences the work. These clashes are usually settled quickly. We bow to and find joy in a stronger spirit's interpretation of nature 👍 , while we try to move away from a weaker one as soon as possible so it doesn't get in our way 👎 .

Aesthetics is a different matter entirely.😎

Nothing works without AC.😉 What can I even say about this brilliant contribution from Rachel Bishop, delivered at just the right moment? We finally have a starting line for this and all similar discussions.

And so, for Rachel: 🙏 👍

Paul Campbell3, your stories about that garden inspired me to put two celery and chili seedlings in pots on my windowsill today. I’ll be using spring water to keep them hydrated.🙂 Let’s see how they fare.🙂

In a real backyard, I’d probably have to deal with chickens, frogs, and ticks, but I’m not looking forward to trekking uphill in the heat with heavy watering cans. 😉

Anyway, 👍 cheers to you and your garden.

Body image issues in Spirituality ·
granitewalker21 said:So, here’s the deal:

...

Most of us aren't actually present in our own bodies. We live inside our heads—trapped by the past, worrying about the future, or chasing desires...

The real question is: how do you find your way back to your body? And do you even know why you left it in the first place?

The body is the foundation and the permanent residence of our spirit. It is the physical vessel and, more importantly, the energetic engine for the spirit's incredible journeys. I only "return" to my body when there's a disruption in the energy driving my spirit.

Today, an issue with the AC actually forced me to reflect on this.😛

🙂 🙂 🙂

P.S. I wrote a single line about souls preoccupied with their physical bodies over on the Initiates forum.😎

Paul Campbell3 said:Once the prep work was done, I started planting. I exposed the seeds to the sun and wind, covered them with soil, and finished with a good watering.
The layout went like this:
First, basil. That's my favorite.
Then sage next to it. Actually, scratch that... there's no sage...
Underneath the basil is mint, under where the sage would be is thyme, and finally, oregano.

One pot stayed empty. It's reserved for my lady's grass. I'm having a bit of trouble sourcing some seedlings, but I'll figure it out eventually.

One month later:

Well, look at that... today's thunderstorm really shook the scientific foundations of folk religion and belief.😁

Dammit, I walked home soaking wet. Sure, I prayed for rain for my garden, but I didn't ask for a flood. I wonder where I went wrong.😁 😎

I am eager to see how the garden responds to the storm. 👍
