It’s pretty funny how much they're hiding their cards during this FP3 😁
Brian Campbell36 said:...Just imagine if the owner of a soda company decided to quit Formula 1🤣

What a joke of an owner. If they aren't pulling stunts right from the jump, then what? Everything has an expiration date, including one team's dominance.

And it isn't even an original move either.🙂
Do you even know whose tactic it is to threaten leaving Formula 1?🤣

A sensor lasts 400 hours total, provided it gets recalibrated after every 100 hours.😉 So, if it’s reliable and performs well during the first GP weekend, you'd expect it to hold up through the second, third, fourth, and so on.
In theory, one single sensor can handle an entire season in one car without any issues.

But if someone is being a complete idiot with their sensors, they're definitely going to run into trouble again...
The massive screw-up Red Bull Racing pulled was that these morons only bought five sensors, and there aren't any new ones available.
🤦 And I highly doubt the FIA would let Red Bull Racing just, say, grab a sensor from the STR car.
😬 They almost certainly know exactly which serial number is calibrated for which specific car, so there's zero chance they're trying to pull a fast one on them.

So this whole thing with Ricciardo isn't actually that big of a deal; they probably just picked the best one out of those five for Vettel, but damn, clearly the other four are total junk...
It's likely a similar story with Perez at Force India... his gear failed in Australia too, so he could easily have problems again in Malaysia...
Though, honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if the sensor isn't even the actual issue, and something else on these cars is causing all this sensor-related hell...
In the end, some stupid little detail might be different, constantly causing the same crap while these guys have absolutely no clue what the root cause is.
😉 Plus, electronics can be incredibly finicky for no apparent reason.

I once installed thermal probes and regulators on the exact same machine, and get this...😁 You put the probe and regulator on Zone 1 and it works flawlessly for years, but you put them on Zone 2 and it treats you like a total amateur, giving constant weird oscillations and random nonsense.
Then you strip it all down, put in brand new parts, and it still doesn't work right. So you check everything systematically—everything is identical, you check the wiring, voltage, resistance, and it's all perfect, exactly like Zone 1...
Then you lose your mind, take the regulator and probe from Zone 1 and slap them onto Zone 2, and it still won't work properly.

So you take the parts that were messing with you, move them to Zone 1, and lo and behold, they work perfectly. Then you swap the part from Zone 2—which had been running fine on Zone 1 for years—back to Zone 1, and suddenly it works just like it's supposed to. 😵
By this point, you’re already losing your mind. You end up shouting every curse word in the book, stepping outside for a quick cigarette just to cool off, and swearing at the damn regulator because it’s driving you insane. 😬
Then, after a little while, you head back in only to find the stupid thing is working again. You honestly have zero clue why it wasn't working before or why it's working now, which just makes you even more pissed off. 🤣

how Vettel never seems to have issues, while Ricciardo can have a perfect run and then a problem just pops up out of nowhere

Vettel never has problems... give me a break, did you even watch Australia or what?
🤣🤣🤣
neonfox65 said:Maybe Red Bull wants to mess around with the sensors again and risk getting disqualified.

I don't even get how this has anything to do with Sebastian Vettel. 😁
Sebastian Vettel's sensor wasn't an issue in Australia, and it wasn't an issue in Malaysia either... the only one having problems is Daniel Ricciardo's car.

Oh man, the sound... Nothing compares to a V10

Nothing beats a V12😁
Jacob White49 said:Like I said, I was looking for that quote right after—actually during—the race, but I can't find it anywhere.

I don't think there's any debate here: Vettel braked on purpose. It’s just how Germans operate; it's practically in their DNA.

Germans brake on purpose because it's in their blood.🤣🤣🤣
Jacob White49 said:he claims he didn't

Give me a break, you've gotta be kidding me.🤣
First off, Pastor Maldonado has apparently never made a mistake in his life, and Felipe Massa is even less likely... I mean, that wall in Monaco just aggressively jumped out in front of his car, right? 😬🤣

Second, there's no way in hell I believe Alonso said he didn't mess up and blamed someone else. Look, whatever you think of Alonso, he isn't some amateur who’d resort to making pathetic excuses like that.
Jacob White49 said:Can't find any post-race interviews anywhere... Alonso said something about his braking being "stronger than expected" or something like that.
Whatever. Given the forecast, this year is going to be a total washout anyway. Vettel might actually stand a chance.☕

P. S. You’ve been getting way too objective lately. Honestly, I feel like you're about two seconds away from admitting that Alonso is actually the GOAT.Comp."Ethnic"...😁

I’ve always been objective. 😬
That’s a whole different story, and you guys just refuse to admit it.😬🤣

..."computer"Ethnic"... I'll give you that one, it was a bold move.🤣
Jacob White49 said:Alonso absolutely nails it in Malaysia. He took his first pole here and has racked up three wins with three different teams. He should’ve taken the win last year too, but that little yellow guy decided to brake way harder than usual at Turn 2.

Someone once said, "In some countries, that would land you in prison."😬
I'm thinking about that move where Alonso intentionally takes out his title rival.🤣

P. S. "Zubo" plus the laughing emoji basically just means I'm messing around so you don't get all worked up.😁
gentlecobra23 said:Wrong. Everyone's against Red Bull.

I’m a Ferrari guy. I don't mind Williams either, but let's be real—people love winners.😁

Though around here, it feels more like people just love a loser.

Every single Vetteloljubac except TBF basically vanished at the start of this season...

What are you even talking about?😕
There are more Vettelov fans on this forum this season than ever before.🤣

As far as I can tell, there's noticeably more of them.😬
Not long ago, it was practically just me🤣, then Fortin showed up, then Joe switched sides to join us, and this season we've got hat trick folks like Teoleo and Explorer 84 popping up too...

steelmaker83 said:That little photo they posted on the Formula 1 app looks pretty decent. Anyway, did anyone actually bother paying for the premium version?

Word is it’s total garbage—constant freezing and nothing but wrong data.🤣
Supposedly in Australia, Chilton was sitting in P3 at the halfway mark, while Massa finished up in 7th.🤣
Things are gonna get interesting this year...
Word is there's some major drama going down at the Hilton involving Ferrari and their extended family (mostly Chinese relatives) after that whole group just vanished with their flight...
Apparently, the hotel booked rooms for this crew even though they were already reserved for Ferrari, so things got messy when everyone showed up at once...

Anyway, we'll just have to wait and see if those Chinese fans end up showing up to protest in the stands...

jadeseal7 said:I don't think the folks over at Mercedes are quite foolish enough to just lay all their cards on the table for McLaren—not by a long shot. Honestly, looking ahead to next season, I'm convinced they’ll be watching their every move with a very sharp eye. 😁

It’s pretty obvious they aren't, and honestly, that could end up causing a massive headache.😁
It’s funny how people cling to that myth about how much freedom Ford has to develop their engines. Meanwhile, you've got the crews at Ferrari, Renault, and Mercedes basically stuck on a permanent 365-day work cycle just to stay relevant.🤣

Jerry Jones3 said:You really think so?

I actually think McLaren's first discarded engine will end up in the hands of a Japanese person. Plus, McLaren mentioned they've already started collaborating with Honda engineers on certain things. From what I can see, Honda is essentially getting a one-year head start on engine development. They'll gain massive experience through this partnership with McLaren, learning all the flaws ahead of time by studying the current best power unit and refining it over the next year while development is frozen for everyone else. It’s true that Mercedes said they'd be careful about what "information" they share with McLaren because of Honda, but the reality is that McLaren will have access to it all. We saw how the Red Bull Racing masters moved over to Renault to fix that engine; I'm sure the McLaren drivers will do something similar with Honda—maybe just lend them some staff for a bit 😁

Anyway, regarding Honda, it's a great move. It would be awesome to see more diverse suppliers, like if another team joined, or even hearing rumors about Porsche (they originally wanted in at Daytona, but Audi blocked them) or the return of Cosworth. Honestly, seeing this kind of variety in racing is brilliant, especially when you look at all these different cars 😍

Honda didn't get anything special...
Ferrari, Renault, and Mercedes can develop their engines just as much as Honda can this season ☕
. Except they can actually use them starting now... whereas Honda won't be able to use their own engine until 2015, god knows when
.
Bottom line: Honda doesn't really have an advantage, unless McLaren pulls something illegal and hands Mercedes' data right to them 😍
