My favorites got hit with penalties http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/84450

Webber blew it 😢

Arthur Doyle70 said:It’s not going to work. It's highly likely the FIA will just tack on another sentence to the existing rulebook to cover their tracks...☕

Give me a break. I have to quote you, otherwise I'll just end up arguing with you all day.😁

And Grandpa and car parking... he knows the drill, he's seen this all before.🤣🤣

Just so I know he knows.😬

It's also a bit weird to me that he isn't complaining. I don't get why his last lap was a 1.19.🤷 Does that have anything to do with how Hamilton was holding up on the track?🤷

But you're right, I can't be bothered either. I'll just go watch some shows until the race starts.🤣

I can't wait, but I'm bored enough to lose my mind.

Arthur Doyle70 said:I’d also say I prefer the underdog approach more than this.😁

Besides, nobody on the team actually complained 🤷 ....I'm complaining because I have to explain trivial nonsense to you when it's already like 100 degrees out here 🤣.🤣 I'm about to stick my head in a sink full of ice water just to cool down......

Of course nobody complained. McLaren isn't going to argue with itself, right?🤣
And nobody else complains about everything everyone else does anyway. The real issue is that now everyone is going to start exploiting this, and it'll be pure chaos—drivers just sitting there on the track at the end of qualifying right when someone else is trying to nail their fast lap.

Sure, things could get messy, but whatever. It's a loophole in the rules, and that's just how it goes.🤣

Seriously, think about the scenario. Say next season Grandpa pulls a fast one and sets the fastest lap in overalls, then perfectly sparks out mid-corner in Monaco because he ran out of fuel before hitting the pits—and he needed that one last liter for inspection. Meanwhile, behind him, your Lewis Hamilton and Button, plus my Sebastian Vettel, are all flying on their hot laps, and suddenly they can't compete because he's blocking the way.

Are we all just going to collectively shrug and say "it's fine" because it follows an FIA instruction rather than an actual rule?

Remember, the exact same thing happened to Grandpa and he got penalized because he intentionally stopped on the track.😉

It doesn't matter why you're doing it—driving slow or just sitting there—it's a massive problem and it's not a joke. Worst of all, it was a direct order from the Team, and someone definitely needs to be punished for that.

Arthur Doyle70 said:Dammit, you're at it again.😁 I was just pointing out how you mentioned the mistake and immediately pivoted like an F1 driver. It was incomparable. Besides, what could you even do? What kind of penalty would you actually slap on him? 🤷 Strip his pole position, force a pit lane start, fine him half a million dollars 😁? F1 is such a snooze-fest lately that people are starting to think this stuff actually matters. We're living in the era of yellow journalism for racing fans...

I already told you—I wouldn't punish HIM at all. Not with points, not with money, nothing.

The Team that gave him those instructions? The one that underfilled his tank and gave him an unfair edge over everyone else? THAT'S the Team I’d punish. Hard. I'd dock them constructor points and hit them with a $100,000 fine. Let them see if they think it's okay to play games with the rules and treat everyone else like idiots.

BTW, the more I think about it, the more I realize we're basically the same person.😁

Arthur Doyle70 said:So mistybear87 is an F1 driver now? 🤷🤣 I was just talking about the working class 🤣 🤣
I wasn't trying to insult mistybear87, and I'm pretty sure he didn't take it that way. ☕

Why the sudden outrage? 🤷 You've been getting on my nerves lately. 😁

You're comparing apples to oranges. Realistically, even a blue-collar worker in America could pull that kind of cash. Look at someone from a place like London where Lewis Hamilton comes from—honestly, I'm convinced at least 50% of the UK population could scrape together that much in savings without breaking a sweat. So yeah, hitting someone with a fine like that when they're pulling in tens of millions a year is honestly a joke.

No, I don't have a grudge against you. If anything, you remind me of myself. 😁 🤣

You're out here defending the indefensible at any cost. 🤣

Arthur Doyle70 said:Look, mistybear87, you can't even pull $10,000 out of a bank without taking out a loan😁 😉—honestly, same here.

Anyway, fine, whatever, "endangering safety." My question is: whose safety?
It’s pretty ironic to punish him for endangering his own safety—he's the one deciding that. From what I saw, nobody else was even on the track until the Safety Car showed up.🤷

How do you even know he can't?🙄

Maybe some of us here can drop $100,000 without a loan. Where did you get the idea that $10,000 is some massive fortune for an F1 driver?🤣

God, money is crazy. Some random, half-broke American soccer player🤣 would have Lewis Hamilton begging to do it. If someone told any F1 driver today—even Chandok—that they could break the rules for an advantage and skip straight to a Pit Stop at the US Grand Prix 2010, you really think Chandok wouldn't cough up $10,000 for that?🤣 🤣
US Grand Prix 2010 in Formula 1 ·
Arthur Doyle70 said:Yeah, pretty much that...👍

They all need to be punished 🤣🤣

Exactly, punish the first 22 🤣

Arthur Doyle70 said:So, what exactly are you getting at? 🤣🤣Alright, let's go out there and crush them just for the stats. 😂,
That’s already OUT. They used to do that all the time, McM. I guess the FIA is just cooking up something new to keep us on our toes.☕

Man, they used to hand out penalties for nonsense like that left and right. It was ridiculous. I'm with you on that one.

A few years ago, they would’ve slapped Hamilton with a pit lane start for this.

That's just how it is. But honestly? I’m not a fan of this whole "hand-holding" phase we're in right now. It feels pretty stupid to me. We used to get penalized for every little thing, and now it feels like everyone is just turning a blind eye to make up for old mistakes.

And what about the brainstorming?😬

Todt is clearly planning to strip McLaren of all their points and penalize both their drivers over that f-duct issue. Then he’ll probably go after Red Bull for their suspension, too. Honestly, it’s just a gift wrap for Ferrari to take the championship.😬

redheron12 said:Cut the crap. There isn't actually a rule dictating exactly how fast a driver has to pit; it’s just a guideline that isn't even mandatory.

Good grief, Sep is losing his mind. Not that long ago, some guys were tossing steering wheels onto the track and under other cars—if we were being fair, the whole team should’ve been disqualified for ten years for that.

I’m with you on this one—Rubens should've definitely taken a massive penalty for that.

On the other hand, MSC got hit with a penalty—dammit, I’m sticking up for my grandpa. 😵Cheers to whoever interpreted the rules and managed to find that loophole.

Unbelievable. They aren't even getting penalized for the same thing now.

I don't see any reason to penalize Lewis Hamilton just for ripping off his steering wheel. If anyone deserves a fine, it’s the crew. They knowingly sent their driver out on track knowing they didn't have enough fuel to actually finish Qualifying properly.
US Grand Prix 2010 in Formula 1 ·
Arthur Doyle70 said:$10,000 😬 is nothing

The team gets punished way too hard 🤣

I mean, when was the last time McLaren actually caught a serious penalty? 🤷

That whole mess with Lewis Hamilton lying was the last thing I remember, and before that, the entire Hamilton-Alonso photocopy scandal.

When you look at the big picture, I’m pretty sure they’ve had the fewest penalties over the last two seasons.
US Grand Prix 2010 in Formula 1 ·
ruggedfox28 said:Honestly, reading you defend McLaren's "golden era" makes me physically ill.🙄

...as if Vettel and Red Bull are paying your mortgage or something. You'd swear on your life for them if it meant getting a paycheck.😁

🤣 I usually hate being right, but this time it's just obvious.😉

I am just completely fed up with this nonsense—playing by the rules when they feel like it, handing out massive penalties to some teams while slapping others with a measly $10,000 fine. And we're talking about teams with millions in the bank here.🙄

If this were a penalty for a tiny backmarker team, sure, whatever. But this? This is a joke.

They might as well not have penalized anyone at all, because this whole thing is just a circus.
US Grand Prix 2010 in Formula 1 ·
Why exactly is McLaren getting hammered this year? 🙄

They're basically picking on McLaren so they can get rid of Denis. Once Max handles him, the penalties will vanish and the officials will just start looking the other way entirely.

Give me one serious penalty MCM actually faced this season 🙂

You want a few shady moments? Here:

The F-duct
Team orders during the Hamilton-Button situation
Running qualifying sessions on fumes and then playing the "we didn't realize our fuel level" card to skirt the rules. 🙄
US Grand Prix 2010 in Formula 1 ·
Arthur Doyle70 said:Lewis Hamilton was asked by his engineer to pull to the side of the circuit so that enough fuel was left in his tank for a fuel sample to be taken.
I can send you the links if you want, but who knows? They got penalized strictly
for taking too long to get back to the pits... simple as that.

McLaren didn't write the rules; they were written by an incompetent organization led by that former Ferrari boss who took over from a literal Nazi maniac... so go ahead, they have their own management, feel free to email them and complain.😉

Yeah, no kidding. I know why they were penalized, you don't need to explain it to me.

Of course they drove back to the pits and didn't leave enough fuel. The penalty would've been draconian. Naturally, they told Lewis Hamilton to shut down the engine so there'd be enough fuel left for inspection. They aren't idiots; they wouldn't risk a penalty like that.

They got hit for that stupid timing issue, which is ridiculous. Either there's no rule saying a car has to make it back to the pits—instead of just sitting on track or being pushed along while everyone else heads to the pits—or the FIA is just being shady.
US Grand Prix 2010 in Formula 1 ·
Arthur Doyle70 said:There was plenty of fuel left in the car for the FIA to pull whatever amount they wanted, plus a few extra milliliters to spare.🤣
The only issue is the time they wasted getting back to the pits. They’re gonna get penalized for that, too. Goodbye.☕
Honestly, this is actually useful. They finally found a loophole in the rulebook—who knows how many times it's been sitting there—so at least now they can fix it. They probably deserve a thank you note for that one. 😬

So, Jean Todt is going to be a fan of McM. Great. 🤣🤣 I mean, I said we spent all that time terrorizing them with old man Mosley, so maybe it’s time we actually chill out for once.😂

Look, let’s stop pretending. He was running seriously low on fuel—way past just "not enough for an inspection." We're talking about a car that barely had enough juice to even limp back to the pits. There's zero chance he had enough left to make it to the box and still pass an inspection. Period.

So, they found a loophole in the rules again. Honestly, who knows how many times now the FIA has failed to penalize what actually deserves it, only to turn around and hand out punishments for totally harmless situations and absolute nonsense.

The rules are basically half-baked, and they let people bend them however they want. It’s a joke.

Michael Schumacher got hit with the exact same thing before—finding a loophole in the rules. It's all the same to me; he still gets penalized. 😉
Meanwhile, at that exact same race, Rubens Barrichello didn't get penalized for doing something just as stupid.

McLaren missed the mark this time around. Honestly, they'll probably end up penalizing someone just because the car is acting up, which is going to leave them stuck without being able to make it back to the pits after qualifying. Typical.

Arthur Doyle70 said:Man, you absolutely roasted him :rofl :rofl :

Yeah, they went a bit extreme, I'll give you that. They could have just ordered him to park by the track and let a crane pick him up, but honestly, claiming a PP through pure deception is a bit much even for you. 😉

You know how it goes—old habits die hard. Maybe I'll try my luck one day too. 🤣🤣

God... it’s like trying to punish Christian Horner for playing dumb. Just let the guy do his job the best he can. 😂

Extreme? Don't make me laugh. 🙄

The rule is simple: you have to make it back to the pits within a certain timeframe, and you have to have at least one liter of fuel left in the car. ☕

That's the rule. What happened here was just bending the rules by exploiting a loophole—oh wait, "sorry, there was a communication breakdown, we didn't realize he was running out of gas." 🙄

Basically, they're using a clause meant for unforeseen circumstances to get away with something else.

Which pretty much translates to: the team lies and cheats. ☕
Because nobody is going to convince me they didn't know Lewis Hamilton was low on fuel for that final lap.

And yet, they're the first ones to go on the attack and accuse everyone else of making up nonsense. Honestly, they're gross. 🙂

Kudos to both Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button for their driving 👍, but McLaren is acting shady, and they need to be called out.
US Grand Prix 2010 in Formula 1 ·
Arthur Doyle70 said:Cut the crap. 😉 If I could just shave off a few seconds here and there, that would do the trick.
It was just a total joke from the FIA, honestly. It’s McM we're talking about, so even the old guard would probably agree.
He got kicked out of the race, but honestly? $10k and he’s out. Done. 🤷 Why even dig into that?

So why are we even talking about this? It’s all just a scam, and that PP was won by cheating anyway. ☕

Props to the kid. He pulled off an absolute masterclass of a lap, and honestly, without that move, he’d probably be staring at another PP anyway. 🙏
It’s stupid to take anything away from him. It isn't like he did anything wrong. He should keep his PP and all five points.

Honestly, they need to punish them too. Strip them of all those points—every single one that Lewis Hamilton earns. Period.

This whole bullshit stunt with running on fumes—basically playing games with the rulebook just to pull into the pits early so they don't get slapped with a penalty because there won't be enough fuel left for inspection? It’s pure theater. All that acting like they had no clue they were running out of gas. What a joke. 🙄

It’s a total disgrace, honestly. And the worst part? Other teams are going to see this and start doing the exact same thing. I mean, isn't it a massive advantage to pull a lap with an empty tank just to shave off some weight? Just play dumb, act like you didn't do it, and suddenly everything is fine. Typical.

http://adamcooperf1.com/2010/06/12/h...reat-from-fia/

Look, obviously there needs to be a rule for when a driver hits a legit mechanical issue right after a lap, but it looks like McLaren’s got some serious explaining to do here. Word is they told the FIA there was a miscommunication in the team about the fuel level in Lewis Hamilton's car.

Funny how they "didn't know" how much fuel they had left.😂

I mean, come on. This is the second race in a row this has happened to them. Interesting.🤣

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/84411

Yeah. Besides that, this guy can pull whatever stunts he wants, but let's be real—the rest of the team will probably start running their cars until they're bone dry too. They'll just "accidentally" run out of gas on the final lap on the company dime to see if they can squeeze out a better lap time.

Total joke.
