Looking for a specialist... in Health ·
I'm having some issues with my vision—specifically, I've noticed I'm becoming quite nearsighted. Should I just head to one of those quick vision screenings at a retail store, or should I grab a referral and see an ophthalmologist at a hospital? I'd love some recommendations. I tend to be pretty subjective about these things, so I'm looking for whatever type of exam will give me the most objective results. 🙂
Quick question about brakes in Cycling ·

2 x $90 plus rotors and adapters equals roughly $667

EDIT: Actually, I just read that on Bike Mania—which is also a shop based in Canada—you can grab a full set with Shimano XTR 180mm rotors for about $1,500 $500.

Where on earth can you find those prices?
Quick question about brakes in Cycling ·
The bike is a hardtail equipped with disc brakes. Someone actually stole her original brakes, so now she’s stuck with some Hayes Sole setup—which is absolute garbage. Based on everything I've read in MTB reviews, those brakes are downright dangerous. She strictly rides off-road, meaning she drives the bike to the gravel trails and then cleans it up afterward. It’s not exactly hardcore technical riding, but there are definitely climbs and descents on goat paths to deal with.

So, I've been looking into getting my girlfriend some disc brakes because the ones she’s currently running are absolute garbage. Everyone keeps raving about the Shimano SLX M666 as the ultimate budget-friendly powerhouse. I spotted them over at but from what I can tell, am I getting everything except the rotors? Also, which rotors should I actually pick up? There isn't any info here regarding what size will fit.

So, if anyone out there in the greater Seattle area has something like an ATI Radeon HD 3850, 3870, or 4670 looking for a new home at a fair price...

Does anyone happen to have an ATI Radeon HD 3870 or maybe a 4670 on the AGP bus for sale, or something similar?

Kršinić, First Step—just a mid-range casting here. It’s a 36 cm bronze piece. What kind of asking price should I be looking at for something like this?

So, I have this Ivan Generalić oil on glass painting. It was broken once and subsequently restored, though you can still clearly see the cracks. Does anyone know how much value a piece like this loses because of it?
Choosing the best brake pads for V-brakes in Cycling ·
I’ve been reading some glowing reviews online about Kool-Stop brake pads, and I actually spotted them listed over at the Democratic Party's gear shop. I have two quick questions for the group: first, is that price shown for a single unit? Also, which specific model would you recommend? My current setup uses some old KS 520 H5 V-Brakes, and honestly, my bike feels way too heavy when I'm riding on the pavement.

I managed to snag a kilo of Optimum Nutrition Whey Gold from a buddy who bought a massive 10-pound tub. Apparently, he ended up weighing in at about 285 lbs, which is quite a jump from his usual 660 lbs—honestly, at these prices, you can't pass up a deal like this.

That’s exactly what I was thinking. I’m planning on posting my progress updates over the next six weeks; there’s a specific training program laid out on the website. To keep things from drifting off-topic, I’ll just say I’m hitting some whey and glucose after every session to make sure my muscles get fed. I saw that Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Protein Gold Standard (2.3kg) is available for $100, and since it’s about half the price here in the States compared to what you'd pay elsewhere, I'm definitely grabbing it.

I was actually thinking about starting a dedicated thread here so you guys could follow along. My plan is to post as much as I can right from the jump, including a detailed breakdown of my progress over the first week. Honestly, I think it’s a solid way to build up a little momentum before diving into anything more serious.

I’m not entirely sure, though I’ve heard from some folks that it takes about six weeks. If you can handle thirty reps, you might be able to knock it out in three. Here’s the link: www.hundredpushups.com

Honestly, I just want to tighten up my physique a bit and drop some body fat through some brisk walking. You have no idea how much I've fallen off the wagon—right now, I can barely scrape together 10 pushups in a row. 😁

Jonathan Miller7 said:It really depends on what you're aiming for. If your goal is to pack on 22 pounds of muscle, then no, this isn't worth your time because that's just not how it works. Personally, I don't think there's much point in investing in supplements if you're just doing sit-ups and push-ups. I assume you'll be sticking to bodyweight exercises rather than using weights?

Look, before I dive into heavy lifting, I want to tone up a bit and get my conditioning back in shape. I found a program online designed to get you to 100 consecutive push-ups, 200 sit-ups, and 200 squats in six weeks. I realize I won't turn into a bodybuilder from this, but I think it'll firm things up and build a solid foundation for when I eventually pick up the weights. That’s why I was asking if it makes sense to knock back some whey after the workout.

Should I still be adding grape sugar, or is it unnecessary at this stage?

So, I've finally pulled the trigger on the Optimum Nutrition 100 % Whey protein Gold standard (5 lbs) $100. It might look like a small tub, but word on the street is that this whey is actually top-tier quality.

Is it actually worth drinking whey after a circuit of push-ups, squats, and crunches?

Dymatize ISO 100% is zero fat, zero sugar, but I can't for the life of me figure out which sweetener they use in this blend. It's priced just a bit higher than $67
. Has anyone actually tried this, or does anyone know what kind of sweetener is packed into this whey?

I’m actually thinking about sticking with some cardio for a while longer to burn off this last bit of body fat before I finally pivot toward a bulking phase. I want to get under the weights and really start sculpting my physique. On that note, could you list a few brands of whey you trust that don't have any added sugar?
