Elevators for odd-numbered floors in Miscellaneous ·
I’ve been stuck twice—both times, regardless of which floor button I hit, the thing just plummeted half a meter below the level... basically, the elevator dropped straight into the basement and sank another few feet into the dark—complete with all those cobwebs and spiders you love so much... while I was trapped inside.
DivX subtitles in Software ·
I’ve run into a bit of a headache... I have this movie split into two parts, and when I fire it up in VLC Media Player, I load the subtitles without any issues—but once the first part hits the end, the second half doesn't just kick in automatically like it does with other files. Instead, I have to "manually" intervene—which means clicking twice just to get it to play the segment where, CAN YOU BELIEVE IT, the subtitles refuse to load... Why on earth is this happening, and is there actually a way to merge these two parts into one single file?

"No children," you say... I won't even try to help you there—it's just... they don't exactly patent kids, do they? 😂 😂 😂

Personally, I’d love to see them install one of those glass observation elevators in our apartment building—just so we could all have a laugh when it gets stuck halfway up and the whole block gathers outside to mock the poor soul trapped inside. 🙏

I'm curious how many injury lawsuits they rack up annually...😕 .... do they issue any warnings or age restrictions—like "not for children under X years old" or something?

And where exactly is that supposed to be?☕

It’s anything but user-friendly—pure primal fear.

😲 JUST IMAGINE 😂 😂 😂

By implementing an even-odd floor system, you essentially force exactly half the building onto one elevator. It slashes the congestion significantly.

I was honestly wondering if anyone would catch onto that... why even bother mentioning it? We could have had a few more laughs at your expense. You aren't exactly the genius you think you are...😂 😂 😂

It’s the exact same story in my building... they finally decided—after what felt like an eternity—to install these fancy new elevators. Honestly, those old ones were terrifying to step into. I used to just walk up to the fifth floor every single day without thinking twice, but now? This whole setup is such a drag. One neighbor even thinks he looks like some guy out of Star Trek because of them.

But if you can use a "savings account" for everything—receiving your salary, hitting the ATM for cash, all that—then what is the actual point of having a checking account? Why would anyone bother opening one?🤷
You might want to double-check that specific bank's policy regarding their savings accounts, just so you don't run into any headaches trying to direct your payroll into it later on.

By the way, I love your take on that "frozen" savings idea 🤣 🙏

I actually laughed at myself once I realized how ridiculous that was...😂

Regarding that specific account—I’ve had it since I was a kid, back when my grandparents and aunts would send cash for birthdays or Christmas—you know, those little "buy something nice for yourself" gifts. 😍 So, honestly, why bother opening a whole new account if I can just have my paycheck deposited there and call it a day? 🤷 😁 As for checking accounts—most people probably just opened them when they landed their first job out of default, assuming they didn't have anything else set up—but whatever. It isn't an issue for me to open a checking account if I absolutely have to... I'm just wondering if this specific option is even on the table.

Look—checking accounts pay zero interest—that’s how a teller at Chase explained it to me—they exist purely for incoming cash like a paycheck or Social Security that you "withdraw and spend"—hence the name CHECKING—whereas a savings account actually accrues a bit of interest because the whole point is to park money you intend to save; then you have CDs, which is an entirely different beast altogether...

Kimberly Nguyen said:I honestly don't see any reason why you'd want your paycheck deposited directly into a standard savings account...

Look—I’m not interested in juggling a dozen different bills and cards when my current three cover everything I need—so my question is strictly about feasibility: IS THIS EVEN AN OPTION? I heard from one person at my mom's office that it works, so I'm looking for actual feedback. By the way—I don't use some old-school book; I just use a debit card for my savings and checking accounts and pull cash from ATMs without issue. I don't see any reason to deal with lines or "pensioner" vibes... unless I specifically want to invest something... that's it.

To follow up on my previous post—I actually spoke with my mom’s boss at her company today, and she confirmed it's totally doable. A handful of people there—all five of them, actually—get paid via accounts that aren't standard checking accounts. So, I’m looking for some insight here—what are your experiences with how companies handle payroll? Any advice would be appreciated.

Look, I just withdraw everything directly from my checking account at the ATM. I don't carry some old-school passbook—I use a debit card for all my shopping, so I see zero reason to stand in line behind the retirees

I have a question. I’m starting my first actual job—yay!—which means finally getting an official employment record. Does this mean I absolutely have to open a standard checking account to receive my paycheck, or can I just give my employer the details for my savings account instead? Thanks.
