Look, I know this sounds super dumb and basic, but I really don't feel like digging through the settings on this DivXu thing since I've never even touched it before. So, can someone just tell me how to actually get these .srt subtitles to show up in the movie? Because whenever I play the file and try to right-click, that subtitle tracks option is just grayed out and totally useless 🤷

What do you mean, DivX?

Is this software on your PC or a hardware issue??

Make sure you list the movie title and the subtitle file specifically.
Just fire up VLC Media Player on your computer and watch it there.
Your device might just not support subtitles.

So, I grabbed this Silent Hill DVDrip from a torrent because I was bored out of my mind...
I pulled some subtitles off a site, tried running the movie in DivXu (Pro 6.7), and now I’m totally lost on how to actually get them to show up. 🙄
I haven't really messed with DivX before, so I guess I don't even know what kind of file format it's looking for, since this is just a regular video clip...

I’ve run into a bit of a headache... I have this movie split into two parts, and when I fire it up in VLC Media Player, I load the subtitles without any issues—but once the first part hits the end, the second half doesn't just kick in automatically like it does with other files. Instead, I have to "manually" intervene—which means clicking twice just to get it to play the segment where, CAN YOU BELIEVE IT, the subtitles refuse to load... Why on earth is this happening, and is there actually a way to merge these two parts into one single file?

Maybe give VLC Media Player a shot. I don't really have the patience to wade through this entire thread, but I dealt with those exact same subtitle headaches until I finally switched over to VLC Media Player.

🙄 Well, you might actually want to read it—it’s not total nonsense, though I use VLC Media Player, so... whatever.😍

Anybody... please... I've been scouring Google for an answer but I'm hitting a wall—since I have no clue who else to turn to, I'm asking you all...

Basically, how do I merge two files into one?

I did—and sure, it plays now... but the subtitles are still broken. The second half of the movie kicks in, yet the subs just won't show up? Unbelievable. What am I supposed to do now?😠

Do the subtitles have to match the movie title exactly?

If they don't load up automatically, just drag them in manually using Ctrl+L.

If they don't load automatically—which happens—just force them manually using Ctrl+L.

So I tried that—and what happened? Exactly what you'd expect: the subtitles from the first movie started playing again... basically, the characters are saying one thing while the text says something completely different. Pure comedy.

This shouldn't even be an issue if you name your files like this
movie cd1.avi
movie cd1.srt
movie cd2.avi
movie cd2.srt

movie cd2.avi
movie cd2.srt

Give me a break! That’s not how it works—I have cd1.avi, then cd2.avi, but I'm stuck with just one single .srt file...🤷

tisk tisk, you're gonna need two separate .srt files here

Basically, most movies come split across two discs, and the translations usually follow suit

One disc equals one subtitle file
Two discs means you need two different files

Windows Media Player actually has a subtitle sync option

Quick question about playing DivX files on my TV via my PC. When I use the overlay option and check "theater mode," the movie fills the whole TV screen perfectly, but there are no subtitles. If I uncheck theater mode, I just see my desktop on the TV—basically a black screen with the subtitles stuck inside the player window. Is there any way to get both full screen AND subtitles on the TV without using some specific software to merge them?

Personally, I just convert the DivX files into a DVD format and burn the subtitles right in. To my eye, the picture quality ends up being much sharper that way.☕
