They’re claiming the coronavirus has essentially morphed into nothing more than a common cold, though apparently, we won't truly know if it's settled into being just another seasonal nuisance until we see how the next two or three weeks play out... https://www.worldometers.info/corona...ntry/usa/
Just 159 new cases and zero deaths reported, which seems to be the pattern we've been seeing for the last few days...
If this turns out to be true, I wonder—is it better to just catch this "strain" and build up natural immunity against everything else (past and future, like what natural immunity has done over the last two years), or just wait for those strain-specific shots coming out in a couple months, only to get immunity for that one specific thing and just go in circles?
Henry Williams81 said:I honestly can't wrap my head around the criteria they're using to hospitalize people—it seems like anyone with a dry cough, a bit of a sweat, or just general flu-like symptoms is getting sent to the ward. I truly hope we're talking about the elderly here; because if some 50-year-old anti-vaxxer starts crying for a hospital bed just because they have a sore throat, then frankly, it’s quite pathetic how much people have lost their perspective. If more people had a bit more grit—much like myself, if I do say so myself—we wouldn't be in this mess.
What does "hospitalization" actually mean anyway? Like, is it staying in the hospital for a week? Just one night? Occupying a bed? Twelve hours? Or just showing up for an exam or picking up test results?
Henry Williams81 said:Generally speaking, I tend to be quite skeptical about quoting scientists until a few weeks have passed—especially when they're coming from abroad. Believe me, it won't be long before some overseas researcher pops up claiming the world is ending. Those types can get rather extreme.
Based on what we're seeing with those infected in Europe, it seems like the virus itself isn't causing much harm, though the secondary illnesses certainly do. Everything that has hit the media so far has looked like nothing more than a common cold. Still, we can't say for certain regarding the infection rate itself just yet. On top of that, we have Jordan, where things are nowhere near being in chaos.
I'm with you—especially when it comes to those news articles from outlets like that. But look, I only brought up what that guy was saying based on the assumption that he’s actually telling the truth... maybe.
Look, the fact is—natural immunity just holds up better and longer than the shots. Honestly, even without Omicron being what it is, I don't see why we need mandatory vaccination for everyone when so many people already have that natural protection. The vaccines were basically built for Alpha—they kind of fall apart once you hit Delta... but natural immunity stays in the game. Hopefully, it holds steady against Omicron too. 🍿
Linda Lee4 said:"People who got their shots against COVID-19 might actually find themselves less protected against this new Omicron variant than those who caught the virus and recovered naturally," says Dr. Alojz Ihan, a prominent immunologist.
Shut down the internet and start untangling cables... ☕
Let me beef up this post by adding a news article
Assuming the experts are right here—we're looking at a weaker strain that doesn't mess with people who already have natural immunity. And if we assume there are at least 600,000 such people in a US city of 3.8 million, I guess I don't see any point in even talking about mandatory vaccinations. It feels like it just undermines their natural defenses and puts their health at risk.
Anyone got that old video—think it’s like 20 years old—where some guy calls up an AT&T tech or whatever, trying to haggle his way into buying ten different websites at once? 🍿😁
Anyone know where I can find some decent iced coffee—like, the good stuff?! (Around the Philly area or maybe NYC?) These big supermarkets barely have anything besides those single-serve ones for $1.99, which feels kind of stupid to buy—not that I'm complaining about the price, but still. this
So I heard back from Bet365—long story short, they couldn't care less about our local regulations. They’re basically saying, "Sure, go ahead and bet, we aren't stopping you," but then they hit you with the fine print: if you end up getting slapped with a fine because of some "local" US laws, that's entirely on you. They aren't taking any responsibility for it. You're welcome on their platform, I guess, but you're flying solo when it comes to the legal risks at home...
It's starting —which of these big-name online bookies actually have a licensed shop here in the States? maybe betathome? I think I remember them handing out vouchers through a major US news outlet back in the day
Just finished reading it. The article. What a bunch of hacks. Honestly, if they’re gonna be like this, they should just shut down Amazon, eBay, Battle.net—everything. Kill off all the gaming, the streaming, basically anything that sends a single cent out of the country. Heck, maybe they should just rip up the undersea cables and cut off the international internet entirely. Problem solved, I guess.
They really screwed themselves over. They spun enough cash on domestic gambling to think they were set, but apparently, that wasn't cutting it—so they hiked the taxes. That’s when everything went south. People—and honestly, I don't blame them—just jumped ship to online platforms. Even the old guys who barely knew how to turn on a computer started playing online just to dodge those rates. Now that they've basically dug their own grave, they want to ban online betting... thinking that might somehow trick people back to the local stuff despite the insane taxes and garbage selection. It's a joke. Typical for this country—they’d rather squeeze people dry and keep everyone boxed in than actually try to be competitive. Instead of letting our local sportsbooks level up so they can actually take on the big online players and pull in some international business, they just go out of their way to shut them down. Just another way to stay stuck. I just want to know how they're gonna let a free market exist in Europe if they pull this move. We need to start blasting emails at Bet365, FanDuel, DraftKings, and all the rest—they gotta band together to stop these idiots from passing these brainless laws. It’s just like that time when the NFL tried to pull that stunt where they wanted exclusive rights to mention games and teams for free—and then Yahoo, DraftKings, and the other big players absolutely crushed them for it. Honestly, we should just call for a referendum at this point.
Maybe you're just kidding yourself—I mean, if you're too embarrassed to even talk about it out loud, I doubt you've got much of a defense against anyone else's judgment... I'm leaning more towards this being some sort of coping mechanism you've built, just keeping everything tucked away deep inside where it's safe 😉
So, I picked up the second one at Best Buy for $444. Been using it for a few days now—not really sure how long it'll actually last—but honestly, based on what I've seen so far, I'm pretty happy with it. Highly recommend.
Maybe try thinking about it this way—this isn't some massive, life-defining climax or the core reason you even exist...
It’s just one tiny little nothing (lol) of an incident (lool) that's best used to grab a lesson from. Think of it as Life Lesson No. 22. That way, when it happens again (and trust me, it will, probably plenty of times), you'll actually be ready.
