Falling for an ex with an addiction problem in Psychology ·
My husband’s best friend is an addict.
They grew up together, so they're still inseparable.
He’s been with his girlfriend for three years now.
She knew he was shooting up for years, but she wouldn't be with him if he hadn't stopped—or at least, that's her excuse.🙄
She knows exactly what someone on a bender looks like (and he is—sometimes it's just pills, sometimes it's coke, but lately, it's all IV), yet she chooses to look the other way.
They make it work. But only because she’s so high herself that it’s honestly unbelievable.
(He isn't your typical street junkie who steals from people; he doesn't have the legal baggage he used to.)
What I can't wrap my head around is this: how one addict can't give a normal woman everything she needs, and how a normal woman can endure it even when she knows.
Even while she's high.
Look, if you could actually provide everything—emotionally speaking—maybe he wouldn't be using. She'd see that instantly, no matter how blind she might be.☕
It would be great if that were the case, but nobody can guarantee he won't slide right back into the pills.
Anyone using is a hard-core hedonist. They love the high too much to stay clean.
They are rare—I mean reaaaaally rare—people who get clean. Even when they manage to detox physically, they never truly get clean mentally.
Anyway, hope that gives you something to think about.

But what I was really wondering about in this thread is what actually gets people upset, you know?
I mean, what causes that deep, heavy kind of sadness
The kind where your emotions just take over and you can't seem to pull yourself back...

...because sometimes I feel like I'm just a little too sensitive myself
...and it doesn't feel right if I'm the only one opening up here
So, come on guys, share a little bit... let's hear about your own sorrows and heartaches, hehe🙂

Even the small stuff hits me hard, but I can't cry. It's like I'm blocked.🙄
Back before my anxiety kicked in, watching a sad scene in a movie would absolutely wreck me. That's just how I am.
I haven't changed; plenty of things still get to me today... I honestly don't know how to deal with it. I probably should just let it out and cry.

Andrew Ramos10 said:I honestly didn't even know how to come up with a title for this... I just feel so incredibly low right now... just completely useless.
It feels like everything I touch in this life just falls apart. My whole existence feels like one big, continuous mess. There was a time when I truly believed that if I just worked hard enough, I could actually achieve my dreams and, you know, make something of myself...
But today? Today, the thing holding me back is this crushing feeling that I’m absolutely nothing... just a tiny, insignificant speck in the universe.
It's like all those simple, beautiful things that bring people joy are just out of my reach... family, friends, everything... they seem too good for someone like me.
I don't even have the energy to try anymore.
Sometimes this wave of hopelessness hits me so hard that I just want to crawl into a dark corner and hide from the world...
Even as I'm typing this out, the tears are just flowing... I feel so pathetic.
I find myself wondering if I'm secretly just looking for someone to pity me... why can't I just grit my teeth and fight through it like everyone else does?
I know life isn't easy for anyone else either...
But for me, the urge to just retreat and shut everyone out is overwhelming... is it normal for everyone to hit these lows sometimes?
I really don't know...
Please, don't start throwing advice at me... I'm not depressed, I'm not on any medication, nothing like that.
I just want to hear your stories... tell me about the times you felt deeply sad and felt like nobody in the world actually cared about you.

So I walk into my psychiatrist's office today, and the guy is literally singing. Like, full-on singing.😂🤣
I didn't even say a word, and he just looks at me and goes, "Well? You gonna cry or what?"🤣
Basically, the people who *don't* cry when they're hurting are the ones who end up in a therapist's office.
Keep your head up. Honestly, the best thing you can do for yourself when you're feeling down is to just let it out and cry.
It’s a cliché, sure, but in psychology, it's a proven remedy.👍

Hey,
you might want to give Baralgin M. a shot.
It’s the only thing that actually touches the pain for me; everything else is too weak. I'm thinking about getting something stronger, maybe around $12.
