ugh...

The other day, I went to the post office hoping to grab a bubble mailer because I had something urgent to send. They didn't have any.
So, I ended up using an old envelope I had lying around at home. It already had an address on it, but it had never actually been mailed, so I just slapped a new label over the old one with the correct address...

BUT!!
No, apparently you can't just wrap something in any random piece of paper and ship it, blah blah blah... I'm standing there trying to explain myself like an idiot, but she simply refuses to believe it's even a valid envelope!
Just because it isn't one of those bright yellow ones and has some manufacturer's name printed on the back, she thinks it's invalid.
Then she tells me, "Fine, I'll give you a different one, just use that instead."
Since I was in such a rush to get this sent out, I just went along with it.
Then, after she charged me $2.00 for the smallest envelope available, she refused to give me a receipt and wouldn't let me cancel the shipment.
I swear, I was seconds away from losing my cool!

Ugh, I dealt with the exact same kind of nonsense today. I was carrying a package containing a few books, packed in a shoebox with both my address and the recipient's clearly printed on an A4 sheet, just like I've always done...
And she has the nerve to ask me what I think I'm doing, saying it can't be sent that way and that I need to find specific packaging... I was like, excuse me? Why not? Every single package I've ever received has come in a shoebox, a bubble mailer, a meat container, or something else entirely—always something new.
She insists she can't process it like that. She asks if I want to go find specialized wrapping paper... then offers me a box, but only if I pay extra. Fine, I agreed. I settled for a bright yellow USPS box that she told me I had to assemble, fill, and tape up myself. After I did all that work, she hands me more paperwork that I have to fill out and tuck inside *after* the package is already sealed. My patience completely evaporated. I listed the value of the contents as $17 and the whole thing came to $28.90 (zero profit), but I left her a $30 tip because I was genuinely in a hurry; otherwise, I wouldn't have given her a cent extra.
And I should mention, she was late getting to the counter because she was eating, and when she saw the line was long, she just kept chewing through the whole interaction. It's not that she was being outright rude, I just don't have the words. It's bizarre that it's "impossible" to send a package this way at this location, considering everything I've ever ordered online arrived without issue. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
Oh, and naturally, I didn't get a receipt either.
Hormonal Contraception: The Pill [General Discussion] in Women's Health ·
Paul Hernandez18 said:Hey everyone,

Quick question. I went to my OB-GYN and she prescribed Diane birth control, telling me to start on day five of my period. Even the woman at the pharmacy said the same thing. The only issue is the box says to start on the first day of my period.

This is what I found online: "If you start contraceptive pills on the first day of your period, you're protected from pregnancy starting immediately. If you wait until the fifth day of your cycle, it’s better to assume you won't be protected until you start your second pack."

I don't get it.

Look, once you get your period, just take the first pill on day one. Later on, after you finish the 21 days of pills and hit your break, the bleeding usually starts within a few days (during that 7-day gap). You just need to take the next pill on the eighth day regardless of whether you're still bleeding or not. That usually ends up being around the fourth or fifth day of your cycle, and you just follow that pattern every month. Cheers.

PS—Both the doctor and the instructions on the box are actually fine; there isn't some massive conflict here. It really just comes down to timing. If you start on day one, you’re protected right away. If you wait until day five, you're essentially playing it safe by waiting until the next pack for full protection.

PPS—I also answered your other question regarding 😉
Where are the best places for rehab? in Health ·
Dennis Torres5 said:Five months ago, my sister suffered a severe brain injury. The surgery went well and the initial prognosis was positive, but she still hasn't woken up...
She is currently in what’s called a persistent vegetative state (which lasts up to a year following the traumatic brain injury, the window where recovery is actually possible). She looks at us and moves, but she isn't conscious of herself or her surroundings.
Because she still needs a ventilator to help with breathing, rehab—specifically a trip to a place like Palm Springs—isn't an option right now. Unfortunately, there isn't a specialized facility in the US that handles patients in this specific condition yet..
We're feeling pretty desperate. We can see the ICU did its job, but staying in the Intensive Care Unit for too long just invites new infections—like that constant Pseudomonas bacteria—and it's clearly slowing down her progress.
She's only 19, a law student over in Seattle, always the life of the party, so full of smiles...

I can't stand watching us spin our wheels like this. If anyone knows of any facility in Europe that accepts patients in this state, please let me know.

Please help!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sorry I don't have an answer for you, but I had to say something—stay strong and keep pushing forward. I really hope your sister can finish her law degree soon and that everything turns out okay. Sending nothing but good vibes your way. 🙂 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
OCD: General Discussion Thread in Psychology & Therapy ·
Jason White41 said:Hey everyone... I've been dealing with this one issue for years now, but this year it’s hitting me hard... OCD—Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
It all started about 7 or 8 years ago—checking locks, checking the stove... honestly, the stove is my biggest nightmare. But lately, it’s gotten way worse, especially on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays when I have to head over to campus around 2:30 PM. I just can't shake this OCD thing—I'm constantly checking outlets for no reason, double-checking every damn thing a hundred times, making sure the water is off a hundred times, or obsessing over whether I actually turned the stove off after heating up lunch... like, staring at the dials thinking "is it set to 0,0,0,0,0,60?" and then checking that ten thousand times. Then, once I think I've checked everything, I lock the door and immediately start wondering if I actually locked it—so I end up checking that too, acting like a total lunatic, locking and unlocking it a thousand times... my head hurts so much doing this, it makes me want to end it all.
Then, once I finally get to college—since I'm always running late on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays—by 4:00 PM I'm sweating bullets, my head is pounding, and I'm just a nervous wreck.

Anyone know how to get rid of this crap?
..or has anyone else dealt with something similar to what I'm going through?....please help me

Ah... sounds familiar. For me, it's counting license plates or windows while I'm walking down the street. I have to perform certain actions a specific number of times—usually 3, 5, or 7. I impose these numbers on myself.😁 It can be incredibly irritating. I suspect therapy would probably help both you and me, but who knows? To an outsider, it sounds pretty grim, though eventually, you just get used to it. I'm hoping mine might resolve itself, even though it's been sticking with me for years. Good luck to you, and to everyone else out there. Cheers.
