Post-gastric surgery diet: What to eat?
in Health ·
My grandfather had stomach surgery due to cancer—I think they performed some kind of gastric bypass or reconstruction.
If that’s the case, maybe some of this will help you; I remember what his diet looked like.
He mostly ate pureed or very finely chopped foods. Everything was cooked, and he avoided fried stuff entirely.
Things like beans or peas that cause bloating weren't recommended at all.
Soft cookies were usually fine.
I remember he mainly stuck to homemade fruit compotes made from seasonal fruit, all finely minced.
For drinks, it was just water or tea.
And he ate small amounts frequently—nothing heavy or hard to digest.
Hopefully, this helps a bit.
Good luck!
