Daniel Lopez said:What he was working with was actually that specific material, not marzipan

I wasn't really paying close attention...😍 maybe he brought up marzipan in a different context or I just misremembered what he said...😍 anyway, are those perfectly smooth cakes made from that stuff? I had no idea making them was such a pain..

yeah, mine was white...

I was watching that ridiculous "Replacing My Wife" thing the other day where Nicole was featured. Some guy running a bakery was talking about it and mentioned marzipan, but I might have mixed things up... though I think mine was made from that same stuff since it felt really smooth? Honestly, I don't know much about this kind of thing.

Look, if you guys can't settle on a cake by tonight, you might as well just pick it up somewhere else. Honestly, the girls over at Magnolia Bakery make them incredible.

Honestly, I didn't even know how to pull that off at first... but looking at the photo now, I get it. It’s just that sugar paste and marzipan mix, right? And since you roll it out so thin, there's no way it's going to mess up the flavor of the cake... nobody would touch it if it did. Besides, everyone who tried mine said it was killer. Just tell them you want that instead of whipped cream—personally, I think whipped cream is gross and looks messy anyway—and see how they react.

urbanrider6 said:We also put a deposit down with Emma. The cakes and pastries are delicious, but I’m lowkey worried about how the cakes actually look.🙄
Have you guys decided what kind of cake you want yet?
I want that smooth look—fondant style—but she's telling me it doesn't taste good. Now I can't tell if she's just saying that because she can't make it or if it actually tastes bad.

Unless I'm totally tripping, I think mine had that fondant stuff on it and everyone said it was freaking delicious...

Honestly, I haven't the slightest clue what "cat eyes" even are...😢

Man, everyone says that banana chocolate is supposed to be gourmet... I had some back in my hometown too...
Wedding cakes and desserts in Weddings ·
I’m probably just gonna grab 5 kg. She always arranges them so perfectly in the box, they honestly look great...

So, what are the layers actually made of? Everyone keeps talking about some banana filling in the top layer, but I haven't a clue...
Did she suggest it, or did you tell her which flavors you were looking for?

northernhawk87 said:Ashley Adams4, that sounds wonderful, please do let me know!! We actually ended up ordering a cake from them recently!! And once Easter rolls around, I think we'll head over there to pick up a few samples just to test the waters... though, to be honest, I trust every single word 😍
Zachary Gray35
says. Donna Gray33, thank you 😘. Just make sure to keep track of which day works best around Easter 🙂
.

Look, northernhawk87, just take it for a test run yourself... maybe they just got lucky with my wedding and ended up looking good.😍 I thought they were killer, but let's be real—with like 100 different flavors, there's no way everyone's going to vibe with them.
So, I'll probably be picking up a few pounds of this stuff for my birthday this week, so you can come over for a tasting if you want... or I'll just send you a photo. Hopefully, I don't forget.

Ashley Adams4 said:I actually tried their pastries for the first time the other day and they’re legit. But about that price point... yeah, it hits hard for me right now because—get this—my mom told me today she’s planning on ordering 100kg of dessert.😲 😲 😲 😲 Don't even ask... I think it’s a bit 😵 overkill, but sweets are her absolute priority when it comes to weddings, so I get where she's coming from (plus, they got roasted at my sister's wedding, so now she’s acting paranoid😬). Anyway, we have to feed over 300 people—you can't have the dessert spread looking pathetic... so yeah, that's the situation.😁

Man, 100kg... alright, fine, for 300 people... personally, I dig them because they're a bit unique... and they look amazing... plus those Raffaello balls and the chocolate truffles are insanely good... some varieties even go up to $35... maybe you should check out the ones from that bakery near Springfield... the girls say they're great and honestly, they seem cheaper than a cheap dog food brand... I think there was a thread about them before that whole peach pastry debate🤣

Man, I really need to check out Emma's place sometime since everyone keeps raving about it...

Michelle Flores said:I’m all about Mest, honestly, but man, their prices are just insane—it’s basically a luxury treat you grab by the pound when you're chilling at home watching movies, since they charge like $100 and $37/lb. Still, they definitely make the best cookies I've ever had (a buddy of mine actually had one of their cakes at his wedding and it was freaking legendary).
I'm low-key debating whether I should even bother sharing sweets with people after the party... assuming they don't get something else instead. Is that even a thing people do?

Man, Meli was my first choice because I've been buying from them for years just for the house. Their stuff is incredible—that strawberry cheese torso thing... man, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. But they're pricey. I'll pick up a pound here and there for the house or a few slices of cake, but when I did the math on 40lbs X $100, it just didn't make sense. Still, they're damn good.

At least 20 ounces, though 30-40 is probably the sweet spot... 20 feels way too light to me. I think those dimensions were meant for a certain weight, but the exact math escapes me right now...
As for the containers, you can basically toss whatever you want in there. Just layer them—throw the dry stuff at the bottom and then top it off with the creamy layers.

Look, I see you two have latched onto this thread just to stir the pot... This isn't a place for provocations; it’s for people actually trying to help. Honestly, I’m calling on the mods to wipe this off-topic nonsense. Arguing over whether I’m being selfish or not doesn't help anyone—especially not the women who are counting down the days until their own big day, just like I was doing for months on this forum. Plenty of ladies here who are already married and settled found real value in sharing their experiences. So, I’m done engaging with your comments and your bait. To everyone else planning weddings or those who’ve already said they’re looking for advice: let's keep it fair to the topic and everyone reading it. If you two feel the need to insult people, that’s on you. If you can't find anything useful to say about the actual topic and feel the need to attack instead, go ahead. I don't give a damn about superficial judgments from people like you. And frankly, why wouldn't I reach out to the moderators? It seems a lot more decent than starting a thread just to be rude to people trying to get married. That’s my final word on your little drama.
Anyway, boldbison26, if you want to learn how to bake properly, maybe try a culinary school... this isn't a cookbook, we're here to swap advice, not recipes.

Joseph Watson10, will it make you feel better if I tell you my husband and I decided we don't want to subject anyone—especially our guests—to anything as mediocre as those peaches? We want to serve them something actually gourmet and high-end. And honestly, looking at my guest list—who are my friends and family—I don't think anyone even likes peaches (except my mom, but I made up for it by buying her a whole crate from Whole Foods). So, I don't see how my "selfishness" is actually shortchanging anyone... and can we please drop the peach drama and the constant trolling now? Every time you show up here, it's just pure provocation. Just leave us alone with our food talk. We have way more important things to discuss here than Dancing with the Stars... if you don't have anything intelligent or constructive to add to the conversation, just give it a rest. You're just riiling up the hysterics who don't know what they want, and us newlyweds who are clearly just thinking about peaches and being selfish all day.

Mods, can we get some order around here? If you think it's necessary, just delete this because it’s going absolutely nowhere... every single troll post just triggers a massive pile of pointless explanations and derails the entire thread. All because of some peaches and the fact that my husband doesn't like them, which apparently makes us "selfish."

Alex Moore28, that’s incredibly selfish of you, especially when it screws over the guests...🤣 🤣 🤣

I’ll leave it at that, but I just couldn't stay quiet...😍 Alex Moore28 is such a joke.

Daniel Smith8 said:I can't stand that gritty, sugary crunch under my teeth—that’s why I hate peach cobbler and anything remotely similar. My husband, on the other hand, lives for them. Looks like we're going to have an issue there.😬

On the flip side, chocolate chip cookies are non-negotiable for me. Zachary Gray35, you really let me down by leaving those out.🤣 😉

Or maybe they were there... honestly, I don't recall, but if they were, I love them too...😍

Look, boldbison26, I’m not even a huge cake person myself. I had one once, but there's a difference between a single wedding cake and having a spread with 15 different kinds of pastries to choose from. As for whether those peach pastries look good? That's subjective. Personally, they look terrible to me. My partner and I aren't fans; we'd much rather have Raffaello or chocolate truffles. They look a thousand times better, so what's the big deal? Let's just drop the back-and-forth here. You have your opinion, and that's fine. People like me have ours, and we can leave it at that. I think half of this is just pointless arguing, but hey, we aren't all the same, and we don't need to be. This thread is about dessert, not a platform to debate whether leaving out peach pastries—or any other specific treat—at a wedding is an act of selfishness on the part of the couple.

Bravo! That was exactly my point, though perhaps it was difficult to grasp. If they aren't considering their guests, they might as well just have dinner with the wedding party and eat whatever they personally enjoy.

Honestly, this isn't even worth a response. Don't take it personally, but really...😍
