Gaming PC build - around $1,200 budget in Desktops ·
vividtiger3 said:Got it, thanks for the heads-up. I’m going to reach out to Future and ADM to see what kind of quotes they can give me, then I'll compare them. Could you also help me pick out some gear? Like, what are the best deals on keyboards, mice, speakers, stuff like that?

If you're gaming, check out Steelseries keyboards. They aren't nearly as pricey as something from Razer, for example, but the quality is still solid.
Mechanical ones are definitely the way to go, though they do bite into the wallet a bit...

For a mouse, honestly, you can't go wrong with something like these - Logitech G100 or the Logitech G300.
I've also heard great things about the G500 model, which usually goes for around $140.

As for speakers, it really just depends on how much you care about audio quality, since there are tons of decent options out there for cheap.
What kind of budget are we looking at for the peripherals?

Sam Rodriguez55 said:I don't mind waiting; I actually really dig this configuration. Can someone break down SSDs for me? Is it worth grabbing one for a gaming rig? The pros sound amazing—way faster read speeds and all that. The cons seem to be small capacity and a shorter lifespan. That's what I keep seeing on the tech forums, so let me know if I've got that wrong... Maybe a combo of an SSD and an HDD? 🤔

image

I'm dying to know how much truth there is to this:
Back when SSDs were first hitting the scene, people were buzzing about how stored data would just evaporate after a couple of years. That’s total nonsense today. You can run reads and writes on an SSD all day long and the data integrity will hold up for well over 200 years. Basically, your SSD's storage life could literally outlast you!

Roger Martin3 said:Honestly, does an actor's age even matter? Let's not be ageist here—it’s really not a thing.😁

And let me just say—Keaton is easily one of the most underrated actors out there... It's a total injustice.
To me, he is Bubimir—I simply cannot imagine anyone else stepping into that role.

I'm with you on that.

Nicholas Watson said:I mean, I honestly doubt they’d even try casting anyone else if he’s already decided to step back into the role, but I can't help but wonder about it, especially since J.D. has basically become Burton's ultimate muse over the years anyway.

I honestly can't see anyone trying to swap them out. That project just wouldn't exist without Burton and him. It’s one of those things where they are the whole soul of the movie.
Tim Burton wants both him and Winona back for his new flick, and honestly, I think most fans would be totally on board with that.

Look, Depp can marry whoever he wants and churn out as many movies as he likes, but honestly? He’s just not the right fit for that role. We all know who he is.
Amityville: The Awakening (2015) in Movies ·
The Amityville Horror franchise actually traces its roots back to the original horror novel by Jay Anson, which hit shelves in September 1977. While the book claims the whole thing was based on the real-life paranormal encounters of the Lutz family, it ended up sparking quite a bit of controversy and lawsuits regarding how much of it was actually true.

Dimension Films is planning to drop the next installment in this rebooted "The Amityville Horror" franchise on January 2, 2015.
The movie is going to pick up right where the original story left off, using found footage supposedly recorded back in 1976 to show what went down.

Casey la Scalau and Daniel Farrand are the ones taking the reins for writing and directing this one.

As of right now, we're still waiting on any official word about who will be joining the cast.

‘The Amityville Horror’ Found Footage Movie Gets New Title & Release Date

image

The latest entry in The Amityville Horror showcases the events after the time of the original The Amityville Horror book and movie through found footage dating back to 1976. An ambitious female television news intern, on the verge of breaking the most famous haunted house case in the world, leads a team of journalists, clergymen and paranormal researchers into an investigation of the bizarre events that will come to be known as “The Amityville Horror”… only to unwittingly open a door to the unreal that she may never be able to close.

The new release date makes Amityville the first major release of 2015 as well as the first film to claim that particular release date.

Yeah, once Keaton starts going off, you’re just totally hooked. Honestly, I feel like if Depp took over the role of Bubimir, he’d just flop hard compared to him. 😁

I definitely agree that people tend to overlook just how much talent Keaton actually has.
Beetlejuice 2 in Movies ·
Depp pulls off certain roles, sure, but Bubimir? I've got my doubts about that one.
Michael Keaton just has that specific energy needed for a part like this.
Beetlejuice 2 in Movies ·
Nicholas Watson said:Honestly, Alisa did a killer job blending the practical makeup with CGI, but let's be real—it felt like there was way more digital stuff going on than actual physical effects. That said, the whole thing looked pretty slick. If they do a sequel, I feel like they should probably flip that ratio unless Bubimir ends up being the main attraction and the entire plot just revolves around him.

What do you guys think about Johnny Depp stepping in as Bubimir if Keaton is officially out?

No way.
Honestly, even Depp's wildest performances don't come close to how Keaton gets into character as Bubimirov.

Plus, Winona Ryder told The Huffington Post that the sequel will push through only if she has Burton and Keaton on board.

Matthew Anderson said:@Drew Sanchez82/">@@Drew Sanchez82 - I didn't even bring up the I7. 🙂

Look, I know you didn't, but other people were offering suggestions on why my comment implies you don't need this stuff.

You forgot to mention what you're actually running right now. If I remember correctly, you've got an i5 2500k, 16 GB of RAM, an NZXT Kraken, and those dual GTX 760s.

Honestly, that i5 2500k is still one of the best Intel gaming CPUs out there when you look at value for money. You really don't need to swap it yet. Just overclock it to 4.3-4.5 GHz and keep cruising; it'll serve you well for years.
Your RAM is fine, and your motherboard is solid enough since it supports SLI/Crossfire.
So, if I were in your shoes, I'd just grab that one part mentioned and jump straight into a triple monitor setup. That’s how you’ll actually feel like you upgraded. With the other parts being suggested, you wouldn't even notice a real difference in your in-game performance.
Beetlejuice 2 in Movies ·
Makeup artists really work wonders. Especially when you have actors who naturally look youthful, like Winona.
$10k-$12k Gaming PC Build Ideas in Desktops ·
Matthew Anderson, if I were you, I’d put that cash toward a dual or even a triple monitor setup with 27'' screens or bigger. Honestly? I’d probably just go for 32''.
It’s way more cost-effective than trying to build a whole new rig from scratch. First off, that i7 processor is total overkill for gaming—it's just extra money down the drain. Second, there's really no point in messing around with SLI if you've already got two decent GTX 760 cards in there.
The only thing I’d actually suggest upgrading is an SSD, specifically that beefier one Benjamin King2 recommended right here. If you're feeling fancy, maybe grab a Corsair H90 cooler, and potentially a new motherboard—though your current one handles SLI (and AMD Crossfire) just fine, so you don't strictly need it.

As for power supplies, here are my picks: OCZ ModXStream Pro, 700W... CORSAIR 650W, RM Series, 80 PLUS® Gold

? It feels like such a total oxymoron, ☕
.

Personally, I’m just crossing my fingers that they lean heavily into the practical stuff—more killer makeup and insane costumes rather than just drowning everything in cheap CGI.

Knowing Burton, we're probably looking at a ton more crazy makeup work.
He doesn't look like one of those CGI-obsessed directors you see everywhere lately. Honestly, I think he's way more reliable sticking to that old-school filmmaking style that made him famous in the first place.
I’ll take a movie with incredible, high-quality makeup over a bunch of shaky, overstretched CGI any day of the week. Seriously, give me practical effects over digital nonsense every single time.

Roger Martin3 said:The whole thing doesn't sound half bad to me; I suppose I'll remain cautiously optimistic—we shall see. 😁

Here’s a little idea for what a Bubimir sequel could look like, especially if they decide to go with a straight-up sequel to the original:
Quote: after reincarnation (he's just waiting in line at some undead corporate office), he finally lands his own spot in a different realm known as the Netherworld. Beetlejuice ends up running his own roadhouse, and his next-door neighbor is a skeleton named Jacques. There's also a furry Bigfoot from Texas called the monster across the street and a friendly tap-dancing spider named Ginger.

Beetlejuice and Lydia become total B.F.F.s and get into all sorts of wild adventures. He’s still the same old joker—a massive troublemaker and a pro at visual puns. He’s definitely still got that craving for bugs and that habit of chasing women. But... he’s turned into more of a hero. Even if his heart doesn't actually beat, it's pure gold.

Just to refresh everyone's memory, that bit about "waiting in line at an undead corporate office" is basically the very last scene from the original Beetlejuice back in 1988. That's how the movie wraps up.
Everything leading up to his reincarnation was shown in the film.

Man, that was honestly one of my favorite scenes ever.🤣

Of course it’s yours. A director picks the writers for their own project, right?
I mean, look at James Cameron—he hired five different writers just to handle Avatar, so having two writers paired up for the next Bubimir sequel isn't overkill at all.

I'm totally with you on the original; it's easily one of my all-time favorites. But honestly, any of Burton's stuff from the 80s or 90s that leans into that dark, goth fantasy vibe is my absolute favorite kind of movie.

Rachel Ortiz33 said:my bad, total brain fart—I meant Nightmare but typed Corpse Bride instead, which I honestly can't even remember that well right now

Whatever, they're both Burton films. And look, they both have solid ratings, but hey, taste is subjective. Some people just don't vibe with his style or don't see him as their director, though I bet that's mostly just older folks who didn't grow up watching his stuff back in the 80s and 90s.

Nicholas Watson said:Honestly, it feels a little premature to write the whole movie off as a total flop when we don't even have a confirmed cast list or the slightest hint about where the plot is actually heading. Personally, I’d much rather hold out some hope for a decent flick than just sit here waiting for it to fail.☕

All we really know so far is that the original trio is back for the sequel, the writers seem like a safe bet, and the story likely takes place 27 years later—so it's a straight-up sequel.
I just really hope they don't flip the script during pre-production and turn it into a prequel. I'm not sure fans would go for it, even though seeing Bubimir's life before his undead persona could be cool... but honestly, that probably only works if they were making two movies.

Rachel Ortiz33 said:Wait, so the guy who wrote Abraham Lincoln Killer and Dark Shadows is doing a sequel? Now I'm officially worried this movie's gonna be a total flop 😁

Are you just deciding that because you personally thought Vampire Hunter was a dud? Because from where I'm sitting, the ratings for those movies are actually pretty decent. Plus, Burton didn't even direct Vampire Hunter.
When you're working alongside Tim Burton on a sequel to a legendary horror comedy like this, there’s really no way to mess it up. It’s just built different.

Rachel Ortiz33 said:As far as I know, Corpse Bride is a Henry Selick film☕

Wrong. It's Burton's.

I don't usually lean too heavily on IMDb ratings, but wow—all four of those movies have seriously great scores!

They’ve got killer reviews—I mean, The Nightmare Before Christmas is sitting at 94% on Rotten Tomatoes! But honestly, even beyond the scores, these movies just stick with you. Edward Scissorhands and Jack Skellington? Total icons. Just legendary.

Alright, that's definitely one way to look at it. 😁

Yeah, honestly, Burton's movies always hit that sweet spot. They don't need to be a perfect 9/10 to be top-tier. The fact that he pulls in such massive crowds and has this dedicated cult following speaks volumes on its own. It’s just his vibe.
I grew up watching his movies—stuff like Beetlejuice, Batman, Edward Scissorhands, Mars Attacks!, Sleepy Hollow, and Planet of the Apes. But those newer ones? They’re a different story. Honestly, you just don't see directors today who can replicate what he does. They lack that specific vision and that raw passion for the genre. He mastered his craft a long time ago, and he’s a total pro at it.

With the names mentioned, you've got that iconic guy and Beetlejuice.
Not many people seem to remember that iconic walking dead guy anymore, you know? He was basically a one-man show all on his own. 😁 It's just a total riot with all those different powers.
I first fell for him back with the 1988 movie and that animated series too.

dustyranger64 said:You've got it wrong. The Nightmare Before Christmas belongs to Selick.

And more importantly, you're being inconsistent here, because he's the writer for both Burton projects. I guess it only matters when he's involved in the bad movies! 😁

My bad! I see now you were talking about Grahame-Smith—what's his name again? I totally misread that as Burton. 🙂

It honestly fascinates me sometimes how people can look at a director's massive body of great work, find one slightly mediocre project, and let that one grey little thing overshadow everything else until they decide the whole guy is just "average."😁

Rachel Ortiz33 said:Planet of the Apes and Dark Shadows were honestly such terrible movies

Super creative, you say? And the last original script Burton actually wrote, hmm... I don't think so
Think about the characters in Corpse Bride, or the story for Edward Scissorhands...

I dig Burton, but he's been out of his game for a while and he's definitely starting to repeat himself

What exactly does he repeat?

It feels a bit dry to say everyone has different tastes, because as far as I know, plenty of people think Corpse Bride and Edward Scissorhands are great films. And then there's The Nightmare Before Christmas, which has that same vibe as Corpse Bride.
I don't usually lean too hard on IMDb ratings, but hey, all four of those movies have really solid scores.

Roger Martin3 said:Personally, I found Gremlins and Dark Shadows to be alright—certainly nothing spectacular, I'll admit that—but overall, I actually enjoyed them.

I honestly fear that Rachel Ortiz33’s skepticism might actually be justified—it’s a tough pill to swallow, really. Beetlejuice feels like such a complete, perfectly rounded cinematic experience—it doesn't exactly leave much room for the story to grow naturally. My worry—and perhaps a bit of my own pessimism showing through—is that the whole thing might just end up being a repetitive loop of everything we've already seen. 🤷
Well, we shall just have to wait and see. 😁
Perhaps they should have considered making it animated—honestly, Corpse Bride would never have become the masterpiece it is today if it hadn't been an animated film.

I haven't seen Dark Shadows yet, but I assume it's decent goth dark fantasy.

I honestly doubt there's enough meat on the bone for a sequel. I don't know much about his "universe" or if one even exists, but looking at his animated stuff, you could probably dream something up.
Maybe we'll get some flashbacks as part of the movie—showing what Bubimir was like when he was alive and how he turned into that bio-exorcist type.

I haven't dug into his full character bio yet, but he seems like a super interesting character— Beetlejuice (Character)

Rachel Ortiz33 said:Honestly, just hope for the best, because the movie's gonna be trash and that's that.

I mean, I know they won't actually use that script—it's not the 90s anymore—but I have to mention it because Burton wrote the absolute worst possible screenplay for a sequel and the studio just totally swallowed it, haha.
Back then, they weren't even making a sequel, but now that there's a little extra cash lying around, suddenly they're all about making a number two...

Wait, what, are you saying you can tell just by reading tarot cards or looking into a crystal ball?

The fact that the same crew is working on this as the original gives it a solid foundation so it doesn't flop. That's a huge difference compared to if some random crew with zero connection to this "world" took over the project.

To be clear, Tim Burton is directing this sequel, not writing it. That job went to Seth Grahame-Smith. I haven't seen Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, but I hear it's alright.

Back in the 90s, Burton wasn't really feeling a Bubimir sequel, which kind of killed the idea early on, but things have changed now that projects are being taken more seriously. Just the fact that he brought Michael Keaton back is enough, and soon we'll have Winona Ryder too.

Based on his other films, it's pretty clear he isn't chasing those massive blockbuster profits, so I highly doubt he's doing this just because he's low on cash.

dustyranger64 said:I'm honestly worried that Burton might be just a little too creative to settle for digging through the old sequel bag just to make a quick buck.

There’s definitely some truth to that, though.

Rachel Ortiz33 said:Bubimir's got nothing left to work with here. It's tough to top the first one, especially since Burton's been hitting some misses lately—I mean, *Dark Shadows* wasn't even close to being as good as *Planet of the Apes*, which says a lot...

Hopefully they aren't just recycling that *Beetlejuice goes to Hawaii* script that was supposed to happen back in the mid-90s...

Unlike a bunch of other classics that tried to mess up their legacy with sequels, we've got the same director here, and he’s basically the master of this genre anyway.

If you read the intro post a bit closer, you'll see they aren't using that failed script. They're working on a brand new one by Seth Smith 🙄 who is also handling the screenplay for the Gremlins remake.

Nicholas Watson said:I’m really crossing my fingers that they actually pull the trigger on this one. Burton is hands down my favorite director, and honestly, Bubimir stands out as one of his absolute best works. :grizemnoktedoizlaska:

I grew up constantly watching his movies, honestly. It’s just great to see him finding his groove again and actually pulling a sequel out of the hat like this.
Since we’ve got the same main cast coming back, I really doubt this one is going to flop. My only real worry is that they don't go overboard with all that modern CGI. If they stick to more practical effects and heavy makeup—the way the old masters used to do it—it'll already be halfway to being a masterpiece.

Paul Anderson7 said:I just hope they don't turn this into some cookie-cutter Hollywood sequel.

Burton will probably dive headfirst into the deep end and make something incredibly dark, which honestly isn't a bad move for a movie in this genre. We'll have to wait and see how it all unfolds, but I'm not exactly holding my breath for it to hit the top of the box office charts. It feels like the era for those specific horror-comedy blends might have already passed us by.

The darker, the better.
That title isn't exactly "caliber" enough to rocket straight to the top of the charts, and we aren't talking about some massive blockbuster here. But honestly? For us old-school fans, all this chatter is definitely going to be worth following.
You're totally right. Honestly, those kinds of horror comedies feel like they belong to a different era—like they've been gone for ages globally—but for us fans? They never really left.

dustyranger64 said:Beetlejuice definitely belongs in that classic era of Tim Burton films—you know, those ones that stayed totally true to his unique vibe, right along with Edward Scissorhands and The Nightmare Before Christmas. His newer stuff might have plenty of flair, but it just doesn't hit that same dark undertone he’s known for.

I honestly feel like modern horror movies just can't compete with those absolute classics from the 80s and 90s. They’re missing that certain something—that extra layer of extravagance and that thick, dark atmosphere you just don't see anymore. Everything now relies so heavily on CGI that it ends up looking kind of childish, which totally kills the tension. It makes the actual horror elements feel way weaker than they used to be.
Times have really changed. It’s wild looking back at how things were thirty years ago—back then, you couldn't get through anything without a full face of makeup. Everything was just different.

Roger Martin3 said:I’ve always been a bit of a skeptic when it comes to sequels—mostly because, more often than not, they just end up being pale imitations of the original, clearly designed just to squeeze a few more dollars out of the box office.
But then again, we’re talking about Burton—who, if you ask me, absolutely nailed it with Batman Returns, perhaps even surpassing the first Batman entirely. When Burton is at the helm, anything feels possible.😍

I just really hope the original cast and crew actually get together for this—rather than some group of wannabe actors and a director trying too hard to capture lightning in a bottle.

The core cast—including the director—hasn't been fully locked in yet. They're still looking for the main stars to round things out.
Beetlejuice 2 in Movies ·
In the massive world of Hollywood, amidst all the big blockbusters, we finally got news about a sequel to that cult classic horror-comedy from the 80s, "Bubimir".
People have been whispering about who might show up for this project—which takes place 27 years after the first one—but Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder have basically confirmed it. She actually told The Daily Beast how much they want to step back into those iconic roles. The original Beetlejuice from 1988 was a total powerhouse, picking up an Academy Award for Best Makeup and 3 Saturn Awards: Best Horror Film, Best Makeup and Best Supporting Actress.
Tim Burton is stepping back behind the camera, and Seth Grahame-Smith is handling the script. He’s the guy who worked on Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Dark Shadows, and he's even working on a script for a remake of another 80s staple, Gremlins.

We don't have a ton of specifics yet. There's no official release date, but it sounds like things are moving into pre-production. I'm really crossing my fingers that the crew pulls it off and makes something that lives up to the original.

Michael Keaton & Tim Burton Back on for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice

Release Date: TBA
Studio: Warner Bros.
Director: Tim Burton
Screenwriter: David Katzenberg, Seth Grahame-Smith
Starring: Michael Keaton (Winona Ryder's role isn't officially set in stone just yet).
Genre: Comedy, Horror

Winona Ryder said:"I'm kind of sworn to secrecy. But it sounds like it might be happening..."It's not a remake. It's 27 years later. And I have to say, I Love Lydia so much. She was such a huge part of me. I would be really interested in what she is doing 27 years later."
http://www.joblo.com/movie-news/wino...tential-return

"That's one of those movies where little kids stop me," Ryder said. "I'm so associated with it. I think it gave me my career. I was such a weird looking kid."

One thing Winona mentioned—Winona Ryder on ‘Beetlejuice 2: Might be happening with Burton, Keaton, and Ryder
Still, Ryder insisted that if Burton and Keaton had passed, she would have, too. "I would never go near [a sequel] if it was not Tim and Michael," she said. "Because those guys, I love."

Leila Brillson - Senior news editor said:This isn't about us, but if it were, we would suggest that Lydia Deetz is one of the best, most fashionable characters in '90s cinema. Her droll apathy, her dark sense of style, her bangs...she really became a great icon for all of those girls nurturing the inner goth. And it looks like, dare we say it, she's back.

Let’s take a quick look back at how the first one went down:
Quote: Plot Summary said:A follow-up to the 1988 film. The new film is planned as a continuation of the original and not as a reboot.

Directed by Tim Burton, the original starred Michael Keaton as the titular Beetlejuice, a "bio-exorcist" (a ghost who removes humans), who is unwittingly employed by a newly-deceased couple (played by Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis) to frighten away the family that has just moved into their would-be home. Winona Ryder starred as the daughter of the family in her breakout role.

While the original film spawned a lesser-known animated series, a sequel was planned in the early '90s with the title "Beetlejuice goes to Hawaii." Burton had planned to return as director, but the project failed to develop beyond an initial screenplay.

As legendary Bubimir would say, ''It's showtime!'' 😁
