:Seriously, why do people insist on shoving words right after a colon?

It’s just completely ridiculous.

🤣

no worries - magazine - the ups and downs

just skip the questions and all the steps
...
the highs and the lows
like the US and Russia
in my world, you're just a weed
while I'm a hibiscus

I think the easiest way to settle this debate is to go right back to square one. You have to ask yourself what the fundamental purpose of prison actually is. At its core, it exists to remove dangerous individuals from society to ensure the rest of us stay safe. Now, look at it this way: if you want to kill someone, you don't need to stab them ten times; once or twice usually does the trick. Or you could just use poison. Common sense suggests that someone who stabs a person repeatedly is inherently more dangerous to the public than someone who commits the exact same crime in a "cleaner" fashion. I mean, the outcome is identical in both cases. But obviously, the first person did it with a certain level of relish rather than out of pure necessity, so it stands to reason they should be removed from society for a much longer stretch than the second person.

That’s my take on it, anyway. Maybe someone could jump in and give us the actual legal perspective on how this works. 🙏
P. S. Stormrider, just so you know, the track Thompson borrowed the theme from for "Beyond Nine Villages" is actually Super Trouper.

super trooper
beaming gonna blind me

yeah. 🙂

There’s more, but I don't really listen to Thompson; most of it sounds like they're just ripping off The Beatles, or maybe it was ABBA—honestly, I can't tell, though I'm leaning toward ABBA... 😁

It's definitely ABBA, that's what I was waiting for you to clarify. 😉

Saying 50% of it comes from The Beatles... 🤣 You're losing it... 😁

Anyway, back to the point: Ivanna Brkić and that Depeche Mode sample in her quasi-song. I'm genuinely curious if Ivanna actually credited DM on her album cover. If there happens to be someone on this forum deranged enough to actually own that CD, I'd appreciate it if you could take a look and let us know. 🙂
Sam Peterson69 said:So how exactly did Thompson manage to mess up half of everything The Beatles did?!? 👎

Honestly, I haven't a clue. Which ones are we talking about?
Henry Wells said:Depeche Mode actually ruined a great song by Ivanna Brkić for me!

Well, that’s physically impossible considering Depeche Mode has been around way longer than Ivanna Brkić 😢
Oh, right, I almost forgot. I was just sitting here thinking about Ivanna Brkić 🤮

😕

Wait, how is that even possible?! 😢
🙄

Lately, there’s been this song by Ivanna playing on the radio constantly (I think she mentions the Mississippi and some crazy girl in the lyrics 😕). Honestly, the track itself is an absolute disaster—not even worth mentioning. But the weird part is how incredibly familiar the sample sounds.

So, I woke up this morning, did my usual routine of putting on Depeche Mode just to get the vibes right 😍

only to realize that the sample was ripped straight from "Question of Time" 🤮

Now, thanks to Ivanna, listening to such a masterpiece is actually kind of ruined for me. Every time the song comes on, all I can hear in my head is "Mississippi... crazy girl..." 🤮 It’s awful.

Anyone else dealt with this? 🙂

🤣
