I'm looking for a recommendation for a good GP in Downtown or the surrounding areas. Thanks!
🙂 Looking for some recommendations for a wireless keyboard and mouse setup for office work. Thanks.

If he passes that audition, he could theoretically blitz through the first and second-grade curriculum at an accelerated pace, provided the kid actually has the drive and the raw talent to pull it off.
I've personally heard of plenty of instances where parents pulled their kids out of private music academies or specialized enrichment courses and moved them back into the standard public school track, dropping them into 2nd or even 3rd grade music school—assuming there’s actually an opening available. Maybe the move here is to enroll him in some private lessons or a specialized prep course right now to bridge that gap.
Good grief, I had no idea this was an option. Thanks for the heads-up. He already knows his way around because his preschool buddy started piano, so they were always talking about half notes, eighth notes, and whole notes—that's what really sparked his interest 😍 and got Mom involved with her own musical background... once he caught the bug, he soaked up information like a sponge.
Alright, let's go for it, thanks! They’ve definitely got the talent and an ear for it—it probably runs in the family since they come from a musical background—so we'll just have to wait and see how it plays out...
Exactly, that’s my point. He’s starting 3rd grade at elementary school and freshman year of high school simultaneously, when he really should be entering 5th grade and freshman year. He won't even hit his fall audition until he's five or six months into the term.😢 He’s essentially "lagging behind" by two years.
Asking for a friend—her son is heading into 4th grade, and during the lockdowns last year, he actually picked up the guitar. They have one at home, though she jokes it’s mostly just a piece of decor now since she used to hate playing music herself and never forced it on him. He wasn't interested then, but things have changed. Is it too late to enroll him in a music program? Does anyone have experience with how these academies view age? Is there even a cutoff point for when a kid is "too old" to start?
Pavel Markovac versus a high-functioning Elly Bašić?
Any insight would be appreciated!
I've got a JBL Charge 3 portable speaker. Does anyone know if these headphones can actually pair with it?

Thanks! All I can say is, good grief... 😂 we'll see
What’s the music program audition actually like? Is there even any point in prepping for it, or is it all just luck?
We haven't given up on the guitar yet—it's still very much on the table—but I’m honestly terrified they won't have space for him given how many kids are trying to pick up an instrument these days.
I’d personally steer clear of boxing if I could... it feels far too brutal for him. Taking hits to the head is just off the table for me.
Right now, Judo is winning the mental tug-of-war. I’m just hoping he finds his footing there.
I finally did some digging today—found out who’s training what—so the whole picture is starting to make sense.😂
He doesn't know how to handle a real fight, and that's clearly eating at him... he can't back down because he's never actually been in the ring before.
We'll look into it... thanks!
My seven-year-old is obsessed with training in martial arts, but all he ever hears about is Karate 😂. I thought he’d lose interest once the novelty wore off, but he’s sticking to his guns... I have a feeling I know why, but he won't say anything besides "I just want to do it."
Now, what should I enroll him in that actually provides useful self-defense skills without being overly aggressive? Also, if anyone has recommendations for a good Kickboxing club in downtown or the greater Los Angeles area, I'm all ears. Thanks.
Thanks for the heads-up. I’ll sign him up when the third session opens. For now, he can just take guitar as an elective in his core curriculum. Maybe I'll wait until next year so he actually has some foundational skills under his belt.
Isn't the violin significantly more demanding than the guitar? Is the only reason it's so hard to get into the high demand, or what? As a backup, I'm looking at percussion or maybe accordion. He can't make up his mind, but honestly, I'd be happy if he played anything at all.
Which music school should we pick in downtown New York City? Prvašić wants to learn guitar... And when is the best time to enroll a kid?

Andrew Wright2, my kid is just a little bit older than yours. Even with a few minor issues, the idea of asking for a delay never even crossed my mind. Honestly, I was already bracing myself for the possibility that the school district might be the ones suggesting a delay.
For what it's worth, mine was born in late 2010. We've been through the ringer—everything from brain hemorrhages to intensive physical therapy, plus allergies and high fevers, you name it. He survived and rehabilitated, but he still struggles a bit with speech. There is absolutely no way I would let him start school at almost eight years old.
