Just wait a few more days and take a test if your period still hasn't shown up by then.😘
OB/GYN Discussion Thread in Women's Health ·
Does anyone here have any firsthand experience with Dr. Kvaternik-Ledinski, the OB-GYN based out of downtown Chicago?
Jesse Flores842 said:This is a bit off-topic, but I’ve been doing a lot of reading on this. Even looking through some medical forums, it seems like tearing might actually be the better route—like, the tissue heals faster and there's less pain compared to getting stitches...😕

But what happens if a woman experiences a tear toward the anus (and even internally)?
In any case, I think I'd personally opt for the stitches—assuming you even have much of a choice in the matter...

I haven't actually read anything about that specific scenario yet; I just vividly remember how pale she looked when she was telling me about it.

A colleague of mine just had her baby about two weeks ago. It was a little guy—only about 20 inches long and weighing 10 pounds—and she ended up needing a bit of both, some episiotomies and some tearing. 😬 Basically, you can have a little of everything.

It's better to be prepared😬
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.🤣

I actually knew one coworker who didn't get any stitches at all because they just let things tear naturally...

Basically, you either end up needing a C-section before the baby arrives, or things just don't go smoothly and you end up tearing naturally.😬
laughing, G, this one’s a winner.

Anyway, any chance the admins could move this over to the "buy testing" thread? It’s right up my alley. 😁

Every time someone on this forum mentions getting pregnant, I tease him by saying, "See? That’s what happens when she wasn't even planning on it!" And poor guy immediately starts defending himself, saying, "Honey, it's not my fault she ended up pregnant!"🤣

Look, I'm telling you again: your boyfriend isn't to blame just because I got pregnant.😁
I just had a song pop into my head—it’s a classic by Chuck Berry. A friend actually emailed it to me back when I first found out I was pregnant. It's called "You never can tell." 😬
placidgardener19 said:🤣 Man, I was just about to jump in and say the exact same thing, but you beat me to it. 😘

I figured I’d better stay quiet so I don't look like a hypocrite—telling everyone else how to live while ignoring my own mess. 🙂
I said, "Hey, I'll make it out alive—and maybe even pregnant," 😬
Alright, ladies, let's settle down.

Moving forward: if you've ever been taught this in school, or even just done a bit of reading, you know that no method of birth control or protection is ever 100% foolproof. Honestly, if you're genuinely terrified of getting pregnant, the only way to be completely safe is to skip the sex altogether.
The moment someone decides to be sexually active, they have to be ready to step up and take responsibility if a pregnancy happens. If you aren't prepared for that reality, then you shouldn't be getting involved in the first place.
Elizabeth said:Thanks to all the women here for the replies. It’s driving me crazy feeling like I have nobody to actually talk to about this. I’ll admit, I’ve started hoping that I really am pregnant rather than just thinking it. I’ve already scrolled through a mountain of articles online... Thank God my boyfriend took the news so well; I honestly don't know what I would've done if he hadn't. The hardest part is going to be telling my parents. My sister just got married two months ago, and there's probably another wedding and then a baby coming soon... I just don't know where we're going to find the money...

Elizabeth, look, if you ever need to vent, please reach out—either here on the forum or via private message. You’ve probably already read my story here or in the unplanned pregnancy section. I know exactly how it feels when it seems like your entire world is collapsing, even while you're simultaneously feeling this overwhelming joy and having no idea how to process it. Things are looking up for me now, and I'm certainly not giving up. I see you're 23—I'm 25 and still grinding through one last stupid exam, so I totally get it. But everything works out eventually; it might happen fast or slow, but it happens when it's meant to. Seriously, if you want to chat, I'm here. Even if you're just around Chicago or the surrounding areas, we could grab a coffee if that helps lighten the load. Just a little "pregnant student" support group 😁
Don't worry too much about anything except the baby and yourself 😘
granitefalcon46 said:Hey everyone, thank you all so much. I really hope to be sharing some good news like this with you soon too. It would truly mean the world to me.
Just let me know how you're feeling after hearing this update. I'm praying to God that everything stays on track and that this pregnancy is successful. But I'm staying positive!!!!!

My last period was from October 2nd to the 8th.

Huge congratulations to you! I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you through all nine months. 👍

😘

I'm right here, I'm right here. Don't worry, be happy. It's not like I go on rants that often. 🙂
Snake said:Not quite. You're pregnant.
The fact that you only had one period is a dead giveaway that you're carrying twins.
One will be a boy with red hair, and the other a girl who’ll marry at seventeen and live a truly wonderful life.
Warmly yours,

I totally missed this one 🤣
Benjamin Nelson8 said:It’s been 17 full weeks plus 5 days since my last period.

Google 😬
Thanks 😁
MarinkaD said:More specifically—it's 17 plus 5!

Come on, help an outsider out here. What’s that supposed to mean? Just some number added to another number?😕>
crimsoncrane3 said:I actually ovulated around October 12th or 14th, which was when we first started trying to make it happen...
I took a test on Saturday morning and saw two lines😍 😍(even though the second one was super faint, you could definitely see it!)
It’s been about 14 days since ovulation and I don't feel a single thing, zero symptoms whatsoever!!!😲 (other than my period being late, obviously...)😍

Sending more congratulations your way!👋 🎉
Jeremy Nelson3 said:I took the test... and this time there isn't even a faint line to look at👎 zero points... no baby this time😢 *sniff*... my husband is stuck at the hospital right now and needs to head back in a few days. He told me he hopes I'll have some good news waiting for him when he gets home, but man, I don't have the heart to tell him it's not happening. I'm just so heartbroken😢

I am so sorry. But honestly, everything the girls say is true—it usually happens right when you stop expecting it🙂 (I'm living proof of that😬).

Sending you all the good vibes! It really hurts my heart to hear this because I can see how much you want this baby and how hard you're working to make it happen🙂
Linda Hernandez15 said:Maybe week 4 or 5? I can't be totally sure, I just noticed my wine and cigarettes started smelling off.

Yeah, it’s right around there—maybe week 4 or 5. Basically, that window when you'd normally expect your period to show up. For me, though, the smell sensitivity didn't really kick in until just now. It's been rough. I can't even stand the scent of scented baby wipes anymore, or that overly sweet honey vanilla tea from Twinings :vomit:. Even the smell of the antibiotics I have to practically force my mom to take because she's under the weather... ugh. Just thinking about it makes my stomach turn :nauseous:
