Look, normally these tests are about 99% reliable. You can take one whenever you want, though grabbing that first thing in the morning is your best bet if you want an accurate read. But—and this is a big but—there are always exceptions, and lately, it feels like more and more people are running into issues where the results just aren't cutting it properly.
As for me? I’m not a fan of home testing kits. 😉
Jeffrey Morris4 said:As for me, my breasts weren't sore or swollen during my first pregnancy, nor are they now. In fact, they tend to hurt more right before my period arrives. Regarding the topic of breast changes, you should tell that "brilliant" colleague of yours that she hasn't the slightest clue.
Ugh, I totally get it, honey. Like, she seriously has no idea and it doesn't work like that for everyone. She was just standing here a few minutes ago trying to convince me that I’m just too thin and *that's* why my cycle is late. Like, give me a break, seriously. 😵
I took a test on Sunday afternoon after drinking a ton of water, and it looked positive, but if it was, it was basically the most faint line in existence. 🙂
I don't even trust these tests at all, whether they show a positive or not. 🤷
Jeffrey Morris4 said:During my first pregnancy, the very first test I took flashed positive immediately; yet here I am now, having taken two separate tests that both came back negative. However, I know instinctively that I am pregnant—after all, one knows their own body better than anyone else—so I would suggest not putting too much faith in those little plastic sticks.
That’s true, but only if you’ve been through it before! For someone like me who hasn't, I can't just "know." Honestly, I feel pregnant, but I felt that exact same way during almost every other attempt too... except this time my period is actually super late. 😉 When you want something that badly, you start imagining things and picking up fake symptoms. 😉
I mean, I don't have any obvious symptoms—well, I *think* I don't 🤷, at least nothing typical. My nose was all stuffed up two weeks ago for no reason at all, and I just assumed it was allergies, but maybe that was a symptom? (I read somewhere that it counts as one of the weird ones). My stomach feels tight and it cramps occasionally like I'm about to get my period, but that might not be anything. Then again, the day before yesterday I had a low-grade fever of 99.5, but I felt totally fine—not sick at all. And I have some discharge sometimes, white or slightly yellowish, but it might not be a thing—it's thick and doesn't smell, though that's rare. My mouth has been dry the last few days and I'm thirsty as hell, and I'm peeing constantly, but that’s probably nothing since I usually have to run to the bathroom three times after just one glass of juice anyway. Anyway, sorry for the massive rant. 🤣
rapidrider3 said:So, when are you actually supposed to get your period? And regardless, take the test first thing in the morning.
One more thing... I read that some people get negative results. I don't know how they're doing it, but I always pour the urine into a small cup first, then dip the stick or strip in as deep as it goes for about thirty seconds, and it always gives a clear reading.
I usually just use the GraviGnost mini test. It's cheap, around $12 and it works fine.
Honestly, I don't think people are doing the tests wrong; I think they just plain fail to detect it. Like, take that GraviGnost mini one versus the bigger one—whatever the hell that's called—one woman on some forum (maybe even here?) tested while she was definitely pregnant and it didn't pick it up even once! Clearblue gave her a faint line, but the Intim Plus showed a solid plus sign 😉
which just goes to show again that tests are 1% unreliable sometimes.
Ugh, I have to tell you about something that happened the other day—this coworker of mine kept trying to convince me I wasn't pregnant. She was like, "There's no way, your breasts aren't even tender," and I'm just sitting there thinking, WTF?? 😕 Like, what does that even have to do with anything? 🤷 If 70% of pregnancies are high-risk or difficult, it doesn't mean I'll have symptoms too. My god, I just stayed quiet after she said it. It didn't even bother me, it was actually kind of hilarious. How can you claim to know something if you aren't even remotely sure?
rapidrider3 said:If you're pregnant, you're already in your 7th week, though the ultrasound will probably show you at 8 weeks. You should be able to see a tiny little baby and the heartbeat by then.
Your due date would be right around December 12th.
And I'm crossing my fingers that what she wrote turns out to be true.
😘
That would be the most amazing Christmas gift ever 😍😍😍
Jeffrey Morris4 said:I visited my OB-GYN this past Tuesday, and she officially confirmed that I am pregnant. While we haven't been able to detect a heartbeat just yet, the little one is definitely in there.
😍😍😍
Congrats, girl! 😘
How late were you when they gave you the news? 😉
My due date is April 30th—so exactly a week from now if things don't happen sooner, obviously 😉 and I'm wondering if you can actually see anything on the scan yet. My last period was March 5th.
Just letting you guys know I haven't received my 🙂
yet.
Man, I honestly want to jump up and down for joy, but I’m actually holding back a smile because I'm terrified I might burst a stitch or something if I laugh too hard 🙂
.
Seriously though, fingers crossed, ladies—please pray this is finally it 🙂
.
Love you all 😘
wanderingstag86 said:As soon as mine showed a positive, I went straight to my OB because my period was already super late—I honestly thought I was further along than I actually was. She did an ultrasound and could only see this tiny little sac, so she told me to come back in two weeks (just yesterday!) so they can actually catch the heartbeat fluttering.
Maybe you should just go get a blood test instead? You'll be way more certain that way—I didn't bother with one, but there's basically zero room for error with those, so you'll know for sure. 🙂
Wait, how does that even work? Like, who do I even go to for a blood test? And is that really what you say? Just walk up to the nurse and be like, "Hey, can you draw my blood for a pregnancy test?" 🤷
wanderingstag86 said:Honey, I really think you are pregnant. A line is a line, no matter how faint it looks. Maybe my story will give you a little hope... My last period was February 12th, and even with a one-step test, I didn't see a faint line until April 1st 😍, after everything else had been negative. I finally saw my OBGYN yesterday, and she told me my ovulation was just super late. According to the ultrasound, I'm 5 weeks and 6 days along—they could even see the tiny little heartbeat fluttering! They're going to set my due date based on the ultrasound since there's such a huge gap from my last period 😍
I am crossing everything for you to see a big, dark positive sign soon, just so you can finally feel sure. 😘
😘 thanks for the encouragement, I know tests aren't always 100% accurate for everyone, so would I go to the doctor now, or is it still too early? 🤷
rapidrider3 said:Hey, neighbor, it’s a deal.😉
If I were in your shoes, I’d probably run one more test first thing tomorrow morning. Just to be sure. If it comes back negative, then nothing's happening. If it's positive, then great. But this waiting game? This uncertainty is the absolute worst part. Though, deep down, I have a feeling it's gonna be a + for you.
Actually, uncertainty isn't even the worst part. The real kicker is seeing that negative or just staring at a blank strip when nothing shows up. 😢 😢 😢
I am so done with these tests, seriously. My nerves are shot. And then to top it all off, I just found out my job situation isn't nearly as great as I thought it was, which is weirdly a relief because this is the last time I want to be switching careers, especially if I'm actually about to go on maternity leave 🤷 though, if I'm being totally real, I don't even believe I could be pregnant. It feels impossible 😢 and it just sucks getting my hopes up only to have them crushed. I actually stopped letting myself get worked up about it for a while, but now that it's been so long since I cared, I'm back to being an emotional wreck again.
rapidrider3 said:Ladies, I’m dropping my address here so you can send over those little care packages—feel free to double up on the goodies if you want!
I’m finally finished today, but honestly, I’ll be right back at it in about four weeks, so I might as well try to save a few bucks now. And hey, don't be shy—if you feel like sending the extra nighttime stuff too, go for it. Maximum packing, please.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Of course I'll send you mine if I don't end up needing 😉 myself, I could even just swing by your place since you're practically neighbors😉
Ugh, okay, total tangent incoming, but I am freaking out right now. They called me in yesterday for a job interview—a really good one—but I still haven't heard anything back 😢. And god knows how brutal the job market is these days, people getting laid off left and right and contracts being canceled without warning. I'm not exactly loving my current gig, but at least it's steady, you know? It's such a tough call. I think I'm actually going to book an appointment with my doctor this week just so I can get some clarity and know where I stand
.
I was so sure I nailed it yesterday because my stomach was killing me and I felt all bloated 😢
Look, I’ve read all kinds of stories about tests—some people swear by them, some say they're useless—but honestly, it feels totally different for everyone. It’s just personal how they work on you.
I’m done testing for now. I’ll wait until my period actually shows up, or if I’m still waiting a week after that, then I’m heading straight to the doctor. 😉
Nothing hurts, really. No symptoms at all. Just a little crampy feeling like my period is coming, but that only started yesterday. 😉
God, I actually completely forgot I was even due! Then it hit me—like two weeks ago, I specifically went into CVS to grab some Kotex, and I realized right then that I was already late. I ended up grabbing a DUO pack while I was there. 😂
Ashley Adams4 said:On day 12, I saw this incredibly faint, barely-there second line. Honestly, I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me—but every time I looked back, there it was 😁. By day two, it had darkened just a tiny bit, though still super pale. Then by day three, it was a little clearer, and after a few more days, it finally matched the test line... now the baby is sleeping right next to me 😍😉
Good luck 👍
Yeah, sure, but she was talking about day 12 of her cycle. I am sitting here on day 47😂! If I’m pregnant, that line should be huge, like, big enough to drive a truck through🤣. But whatever, she's happy with her result, so good for her😘
rapidrider3 said:don't worry, it'll be positive.
😘 and if it isn't—which, honestly, I'm more prepared for than anything else right now—it’s actually kind of nice to have someone give me a little bit of hope for once in my life.
Woke up this morning feeling so incredibly bloated down low it's actually miserable, plus I feel like garbage because I barely slept at all.😢
steelcrane12 said:You can totally test again tomorrow, and I'm pretty sure it'll be a positive 😍
😘 Honestly? I’m not holding my breath. Maybe a tiny bit, but seriously, just a tiny bit. It’s such a massive letdown when I check that little window where something should actually be showing up, and there's absolutely nothing there. It makes me wonder if this stuff ever actually works for anyone else, or if I'm just the only one getting ghosted by life 😵
But hey, regardless, reading this was actually pretty nice 👍
👋 hey everyone
So, my period is late—by my math, at least 14 days, maybe even 19. Honestly, I stopped tracking it for a while because last year I was such a nervous wreck about it. I’d spend every single month obsessing over symptoms that weren't even real, just stuff I was totally making up in my own head 😢. But luckily, I remembered when I got it back in February, so I started calculating again. My cycle is usually pretty steady, around 28 to 32 days, though it’s been stretching out a bit lately
.
Anyway, I took a OneStep test this afternoon and... I don't know. I saw a faint, super pale second line—like, barely there. The first line was nice and dark, obviously, but now I'm sitting here wondering if there was even a second line at all, or if I just hallucinated it after staring at the strip for five minutes straight. I don't know 🤷. Just to add to the chaos, I’d already downed four huge cups of coffee (not 😉) along with a ton of juice and water, so my pee was practically clear, almost white. Maybe the timing was just terrible for the test
.
So yeah, just wanted to vent/share with you guys. Part of me wants to bolt to CVS right now to grab another one, but there’s no point. I’ll just wait another 5 or 6 days and try again in the morning. Or maybe my period will just show up in the meantime
.
Oh, one more thing—I have zero symptoms. None. Not even the imaginary ones I used to deal with 🙂. The only thing is, for a few days now—and especially today when I went to the bathroom—I noticed this thick, clearish-white discharge. It doesn't smell, and it isn't heavy. Also, my stomach feels weird today. Not like "cramping before a period" weird, but more like early PMS vibes without the actual pain. Then again, that could also just be my brain playing tricks on me, so I’m not even going to count it
.
Anyway, if anything else happens, I'll check back in with you all 😉
Honestly, I’d much rather just get a standard package with the value clearly marked than deal with some "certified" shipment. I don't know, there’s always a catch with those insured ones, right? 🤷
Drew Gonzalez75 said:Why wouldn't they just refund you the actual amount you listed?
Well, because that's literally the whole point of declaring a value, right? Duh.
Look, if it was sent via standard recommended shipping and nobody actually declared a specific value, then yeah, you're probably stuck with just getting five times the postage back. That's how it works.
Angela Flores76 said:@stormyhound9/">@@stormyhound9 - honestly, I think she should’ve been compensated by now. Usually, things move pretty fast once they give you that official decision where they apologize and promise to pay out a specific amount. 🤷
Look, I don't know how other post offices handle things or if it varies from one branch to another, but around here? It’s slow. We’re talking at least a month of waiting. So, my bet is she hasn't seen a dime yet, and she probably won't be seeing it anytime soon either. 🤷
