Best software for adding text to images? in Software ·
So, I’m on the hunt for some software—ideally something free if it exists—that lets me overlay text onto images with way more freedom than what I've got right now. I need to be able to tilt the text at all sorts of angles, go vertical, horizontal, or even do that cool skewed/perspective look where it lays flat against an object. Right now, I’ve just been messing around with Adobe Photoshop, which isn't bad per se, but it’s super limiting for what I actually want to do... it basically only gives me the standard vertical and horizontal options. It won't let me rotate things freely or get that 3D perspective vibe I'm after.

Does anyone out there know of a little program that can actually handle this kind of stuff?

Basically, this is the kind of effect I'm trying to pull off with my text:

Alright, thanks so much.

Ugh, I’ve got a bit of a situation here—whenever I try to print something, the text comes out all crooked instead of sitting straight on the page?! Like, why does everything have to be a struggle? Does anyone have any clue what might be causing this?

I mean, look, just like I have zero faith in how consistent those results from the late Florence Griffith Joyner were, I’ve got the exact same doubts about these recent numbers from Bolt. Someone actually pointed out that you just can't break that 10-second barrier without some kind of help from doping—it's just not happening naturally. And honestly? These times are looking freakishly, abnormally fast.

Personally, I think it's probably better to just adapt a bit instead of stressing out trying to hunt down the perfect bra.
Why limit yourself like that? At the end of the day, it's just what you want.🤷

True, but what can I do? I guess I'm just a bit of a perfectionist—if everything isn't exactly my vibe, I just don't feel right in them. Clothes have to hit certain basic criteria for me, otherwise, there's no way I'm wearing them. Honestly, I'd rather stick with the stuff I've had for years until something similar actually shows up. I'm not this nitpicky about other clothes, but when it comes to pants? Yeah, I definitely am.

Anyway, thanks for the photos. If you're right, regarding those SEVE-MJ 216 jeans in the links (are these Levi's? They look a lot like Levi's from the back??), I'd say the design is decent—pretty simple and heading in the right direction for what I need. They're as slim-fit as you can get given the cut, and the leg shape at the bottom is perfect (looking at V3)—that's the sweet spot for me. They taper from the knee down, but stay closer to the leg above the knee. Everything is good, though I'd probably want to hem them a bit so they don't bunch up over my sneakers and instead just hang straight. The color isn't my absolute favorite, but it's not bad either. Then there's the distressing—they've got those rips, which is probably why I might hesitate to buy them (especially since the pockets seem a bit low). But hey, maybe not. I honestly can't wrap my head around the whole "ripped jeans" trend. It makes me feel awkward, like everyone is just staring at the holes. If we ignore the rips, they look pretty alright—maybe a little off from the front, and the profile from the side feels a bit low, but the overall impression is best from the back because of that solid cut.

Also, I will never understand why someone takes perfectly good jeans, rips them up, and then tries to sell them to me as if they're brand new?! It's probably the dumbest trend ever, at least in my book.

One more thing—I don't know who the model in the photo is, but they probably have a great build so the clothes look killer on them. I feel like if I put those on, the impression would be significantly worse—way worse, actually. That's just my gut feeling.

PS: Just curious, where do you grab these links and photos from?

Mark Gray4 said:I'm not exactly 17 or 18 years old😉 and I've never been much for that rapper aesthetic—you know, the baggy jeans vibe. Honestly, it’s the exact opposite for me; I prefer slimmer cuts. A few years back, I used to live in Versace Jeans Couture stretch denim. They fit perfectly around the waist and hips without feeling restrictive, almost hugging the body just right, but they were such a struggle to pull on. Eventually, I realized the issue: they look awkward sitting on top of sneakers, and if the jeans are too tight, pairing them with a jacket or an open shirt just looks a bit ridiculous. That’s why lately, I’ve been leaning toward non-stretch denim. I want that straight fall over my sneakers—a slim fit, sure, but nothing skin-tight.
Generally speaking, I’m a fan of the classics: solid colors, clean lines, no unnecessary bells and whistles. Brands like Dolce & Gabbana and Versace usually nail those timeless, high-quality basics.

When it comes to the trendier stuff, Diesel and D&G actually have some great options. A couple of seasons ago, Dsquared² was killing it for me. They had the perfect cut—slim but not suffocating, straight enough, long enough, with tasteful accents and a nice wash. Here’s an example:
image

Lately though, their selection has gone downhill. The washes feel tacky and overdone, and half the time they’re way too short, leaving you showing off your socks when you walk😲. It’s either a "carrot" fit, ridiculously tight, or so wide you could fit two of me in one pair—and trust me, I’m not skinny.😁 It’s a shame because I wish I’d grabbed a few pairs a few seasons back, because lately, they haven't produced anything even remotely close to my taste.🤷

Walking through most other stores, it’s just a sea of mediocrity. All these lesser-known brands try to rip off designer styles to grab attention, but it always ends up looking cheap. About 90% of what you see is poorly washed, distressed, or covered in tacky details. You can't be surprised that finding decent jeans in local shops around here is a nightmare. There are so many incredible pairs out there that just aren't stocked in our typical US retail stores, but if you really hunt for them, you'll find them. Somewhere out there, there's a perfect pair waiting for you.

Thanks for the photo. First off—and I mean this sincerely—don't even bother paying attention to the critiques I’m about to drop on you. Seriously, just tune them out. Keep posting those shots, okay? Because honestly... the photo itself is great. It deserves all the praise.

Look, tastes are tastes—everyone’s got their own thing—but I really have to get a few things off my chest. First off... it's pretty obvious that I'm just a guy from a completely different era. Like, seriously.

If you’ve actually been paying attention to my posts—and the specific list of "must-haves" (or rather, "must-not-haves") for my jeans—then you already know that the pair in your photo is a total disaster for my style. Like, seriously. It’s just... no. The whole design just drags downward—it's visually heavy, you know? The pockets sit way too low, like they're hanging off somewhere below the butt instead of actually being *on* the butt, which is where they belong. Everything feels oversized, too long, and just way too wide overall. Honestly, looking at them, you get this impression that they’ve somehow melted or shrunk weirdly, and you just want to yank them up to make them look decent. That’s the vibe I get, and it’s exactly what I can't stand. For me, the rule is simple: those pockets need to be as high up as possible. I actually got a pair similar to these as a gift from my girlfriend once—but let's be real, I haven't worn them, and I definitely won't. They're just sitting there in the closet. Thank God she doesn't ask why I never pull them out, right? 🙏

So, look, the color is definitely on point—and honestly, I think the material quality is solid too. You can just tell by the shade and the overall vibe, you know? I’ve got a good feeling about how the fabric feels. But, if I'm being totally real, there are two things that would drive me crazy... the length of the legs and how they bunch up over your sneakers. Seriously, I have zero patience for that. I absolutely cannot stand it when pants are even slightly too long. My whole thing is finding that perfect, clean line where they just hang straight down without any extra drama. To get that right, the length has to be spot on—it’s almost like a science. Usually, I try them on first, see where they land, and then just take them to the tailor to get them hemmed. If everything fits perfectly—like, if the cut from the knee down is wide enough—they’ll just drape naturally and maybe hit the top of the shoe, but they won't stack or wrinkle. That's the dream, right? But man, if they're slim-fit AND too long? There's no saving it. They just end up bunching up at the bottom, and honestly, brother, it just looks sloppy. Not my style at all.

So, look—it’s not even what’s in the photo I’m hunting for, which is why I was pretty confused when you said there were endless options to choose from. There just isn't anything for me out there, period. It's clear now. I don't even bother looking at cuts like that when I'm walking through stores; I just pass them by without a second thought.
When you actually take all these specific details I insist on and put them together, maybe then it'll click why my search for the perfect pair of jeans has been dragging on for years. Here in the States, anyway—I haven't really ventured out to try elsewhere yet...

I'll try to snap some photos tomorrow, or maybe another day, of the ones I'm wearing right now. They're, let's say, heading in the right direction toward my actual taste? They aren't perfect, obviously, but they aren't terrible either—so I guess I'm getting closer. I actually stumbled upon these by pure accident—total fluke, really—which, in my case, is basically the only way I ever manage to get dressed.😍

And hey, why’d you leave it out of the main body of the post and just tuck it away in the edit instead? Wouldn't it be easier if it was actually part of the conversation?

Look, you probably missed my point—no worries, happens all the time. I wasn't talking about those wild, flared-out bell bottoms from the early seventies, you know? That’s not my vibe at all. What I mean is that they should just taper slightly from the knee down—nothing crazy, just a normal fit. Not too skinny, either. But honestly? The real deal-breaker for me is how they sit at the waist, the hips, and the rear. If the cut isn't hitting right there—and trust me, I know within two seconds of pulling them on in a fitting room—then I’m out. I’m tossing them immediately. In fact, I probably walk away from 99% of what's sitting on the racks.

You say you’d laugh at that whole eighties aesthetic—and honestly? Believe me, I can't help but crack up too whenever I see what people are actually wearing these days. It’s just... well, it’s something else, isn't it? And yeah—I’ll admit it—there’s definitely a bit of a sneer in my smile when I look at it.🤣 Man, these kids today have absolutely zero taste. They just throw on whatever junk they find, all that sloppy, low-rent style—they look like nothing more than wannabe street thugs. I honestly can't stand it. Look, I know I’m old-fashioned—call me what you want—but I believe clothes should actually fit the body. Everything should be balanced, sharp, and elegant... not just these baggy, shapeless rags everyone is wearing nowadays. It’s just sad, really.
You say there’s everything available these days, but I’m telling you—I totally disagree. Sure, the stuff is out there, but honestly? Like 95% of it is just complete design failures. It's all wrong. What people actually mean when they talk about "real" style is... Wait, I’m actually struggling to wrap my head around what you even mean by that... like, is it a typo? A bit of slang I missed? Or just one of those words that feels like it should make sense but honestly—it’s just hanging there in the void for me. Is it some weird inside joke or did your keyboard just decide to go rogue mid-sentence? Either way, I'm sitting here staring at it like it's a riddle from a noir novel... help a person out? Design... I mean, when it comes down to it—and obviously speaking for us guys here—women just have way more options to work with. It's not even a fair fight, right?

Man, I’ve been hunting for those slim-fit jeans—you know, the ones that actually fit right without being weird—and honestly? I haven't found a single cut or design that doesn't leave me totally unsatisfied. It's like... does anyone actually get this right anymore? Or am I just looking in all the wrong places?

Honestly, the biggest issue right now—and I really mean this—is the actual cut. There’s just zero real geometry left in design these days. In my opinion, designers have completely lost the plot... they've gone totally off the rails. Everything has this weird, cheap vibe to it. Like, if the cut were actually decent? I wouldn't even be sweating the fabric quality or the color choice. But it's not. Today, there isn't any legitimate denim design left; everything has just spiraled into this massive failure. They’re forcing these awkward cuts just to chase whatever fleeting trend is happening right now—mostly for the money, obviously. These big brands are basically selling out their souls and their entire heritage just to stay "relevant" to Gen Z. It’s all just junk being churned out because, well, junk happens to be what people are looking for.

Look, my taste is... well, let's just say it's pretty niche—so you’re probably gonna see things totally differently than I do. Or maybe you will? Honestly, who knows. Everyone’s got their own thing going on, right?

True elegance... it’s something you just can't force, you know? It isn't about throwing money at some designer label or wearing something loud just to be noticed—honestly, that's usually just noise. Real elegance—the kind that actually sticks with you—it's more of a feeling. It’s in the details, the quiet moments, the way someone carries themselves when they think nobody is watching. It’s subtle. It’s intentional. I guess what I'm trying to say is that you can't really buy it, no matter how much you spend at a boutique in Manhattan or wherever. You have to find it within yourself first. Isn't that how it works?

Check out this link—it’s an old photo of me wearing these corduroy pants that were made by Varteks back before the war. These are the cream-colored ones, the summer version, you know? Like, a thinner corduroy compared to the heavier winter ones they used to put out. They had them in all sorts of colors too. The shot is from behind, right around the waist and hip area, just so you can really see the cut and where the pockets sit. It’s that classic old-school geometry—and don't get me wrong, I’m not trying to flex the background here, haha. From the knee down, they flare out just a bit, but not too much and not too little... honestly, they're just right. And if you actually picked the right size, they fit the body perfectly—neither too baggy nor too tight. They look a little worn out in the photo because I lived in them, but man, when they were fresh out of the box? They looked sharp. Just a simple cut, which I think is always for the best.

So, I actually took these down to the local hardware store—the old Vartek shop—a few years back. I was asking if they had anything like them, and the owner just looked at me and goes, "Ah, man, I remember those... but we don't carry stuff like that anymore. That was a different era."

And honestly? I totally called it myself, haha...

PS: I forgot to mention—I can't stand buttons on the front. It just feels gross to me, if that makes sense? I need a zipper. These ones had buttons, just like most of everything else back then, but I’ve always avoided button-fronts... except after the war when I didn't really have a choice in the matter. I guess I just have weird tastes, I know... but hey, what can you do?

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...calewisica.jpg

Like she said, lol, it's just your taste—but honestly, I don't share your taste, nor do I care for today's trends, and clearly, yours falls into that category.
Look, this photo was taken 21 years ago. That’s just what people wore back then, and hey, when I find something comfortable, I still wear it today—though not this tight. This was a DIY home job where they accidentally ended up way too narrow, plus, I definitely put on a few pounds since then, haha... I thought I was going to burst when I pulled these on.🤣>

Since you can't stand the tight-top, wide-bottom look, we basically have nothing to talk about here. I can't stand anything else, either. It doesn't necessarily have to be this skin-tight, but the top half needs an elegant, geometric design (you know, actual tailoring). And a solid zipper is a must. Buttons? Not a fan. And don't even get me started on all those weird experiments with pockets and seam lines you see nowadays—one pocket up high, one lower down, or just one single pocket, or pockets at two different "normal" heights... all that nonsense. I hate it. That's why I say, Levi's used to be the gold standard before the war. Not anymore.

Anyway, if you ask me, things always look a bit more elegant when they lean toward being slim rather than baggy. But hey, if you belong to the new generation and you're 17 or 18 and into the rapper vibe, I guess it could easily be the other way around.

Come on, man—post a link to something you actually think is elegant and fits your style! If I see it, I'll give you my honest opinion, no games.

By the way, I have no clue what those VJC and JC models are? What does that even mean? Give me some more details—maybe it's something decent, who knows?

Yeah, he went through a bunch of stuff, but nothing really hits the mark. I mean, there are all kinds of jeans out there today—different cuts, colors, faded, unwashed, slim, baggy... where'd you get the idea they're all just wide and shapeless? 😕 Also, there are plenty of other brands besides Levi's, too. You didn't actually ask for anything specific, because if you had, we'd know.

Look, if you're hunting for those tight flare cuts with the high waist from back in the 70s, good luck finding them. Honestly, it’s probably better that way. If I saw someone walking down the street in those, I’d think they were wearing a costume. Pretty sure I'm not alone in thinking that. 😬

Edit, here's an example. Just a regular pair.

Man, the absolute gold standard for denim was Lewis—doesn't even matter if they were the original vintage ones or what, it just hits different. I’m talking about those cuts from back before the war, you know? That classic look from the seventies and eighties that just flowed with your body perfectly. Back then, we used to hunt them down from those local ladies selling stuff out of their trunks or at the flea markets—where everyone had copies of all the big brands. And honestly? Those knock-offs were often better than the "authentic" stuff you find today. Those cuts were perfect; they actually followed your silhouette, had that subtle taper toward the ankle, and the pocket placement—both the back ones and the side ones—was just spot on. But most importantly, they had that crisp, fresh vibe. That deep, rich indigo color... man, that feels like a lost era. Nowadays, everything is just washed out; the color is practically nonexistent, the fit is gone, and it's all just this "baggy sack" style. It looks like something a vagabond would wear—everything just hangs there, pockets sitting half a foot below the butt, fabric bunching up everywhere, patches, holes... it’s gross. There's zero geometry to the cut. The legs just pile up in heaps over your sneakers or boots. A total disaster. I have no clue who is designing this stuff—just a bunch of amateurs, I guess.

But hey, I guess the kids love it.

And yeah, companies like Varteks used to carry some killer Lewis jeans too—they had a license to make them, I think. If I’d known the war was coming, I would’ve dropped a serious amount of cash on them back then just to have something for the future. I still keep a few worn-out pairs as keepsakes. Back in the day, they even made Lewis jeans using denim as the material, and the fit was 100% my style. You could walk into a regular street market and find a better cut than what you'd see in some high-end boutique today, which is usually just overpriced junk anyway.

Nowadays, Lewis is complete trash when it comes to the fit. It’s such a massive step backward, it’s unbelievable. I can't even bring myself to shop there anymore because their cuts are just so wildly off. The fabric is fine—actually really good—but the fit? It's just... ugh. Most of them don't even have that slight taper at the bottom, which I absolutely cannot stand. Basically, I give Lewis a wide berth.

I pretty much avoid most other brands too, because everyone has surrendered to these new, garbage trends and tastes.

Searching for a decent pair of jeans is, for me, the hardest part of anything involving clothing. It takes years. That’s why I end up wearing the same exact pair for years on end whenever I happen to stumble upon a cut that actually fits my frame.
Mandatory pension funds: What are your thoughts? in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
William Mitchell2 said:But they didn't add that extra 5% specifically for the pension fund...
Instead, they carved out 5% of the total retirement allocation for OMF.

Basically, if that 5% hadn't been set aside, everything would still be running on the old model—and then a total collapse would have been a 100% certainty.

As if. People say the government can't go bust, sure, but these private funds? They could crumble in a heartbeat because there’s zero incentive for them not to. It’s honestly ridiculous—I'm basically forced by law to hand over my hard-earned capital to people I don't even know. Like, who are these folks anyway? And what do you even call this setup... some kind of "state-mandated capitalism" or whatever?
Mandatory pension funds: What are your thoughts? in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
Mandatory retirement funds? Honestly, they’re just one more way the elites have figured out how to fleece us regular folks. The whole system is rigged from the ground up—nobody is actually guaranteeing a damn thing. If you ask me, this whole setup was cooked up by some corporate mafia just so a handful of high-level managers can play games with our hard-earned capital, doing whatever they feel like with money that isn't even theirs. It's basically the government washing its hands of us—they just don't want to carry our weight anymore.

But here's the kicker: the government has been meddling since day one. The entire structure is built so brokenly that it can't even function properly, which makes these fund schemes nothing more than a desperate move by people who have already lost. As for what this will actually achieve? We'll see, but I don't see anything good coming out of it. God help us when we finally reach old age—if we even make it that far.

So, I was digging through some old threads to figure out how to get my avatar to the right size—you know, that endless rabbit hole of troubleshooting—and I finally decided to take a bit of advice. I went ahead and downloaded Irfan View from the web, picked out my photo, and used the "Resize/resample" option to shrink it down to about 44 pixels. Everything seemed fine on my end—the file properties show it’s sitting at around 6.58 KB, which should be well under that 10KB limit, right? I mean, if 10KB is the ceiling, I should be golden. But here's the kicker... every single time I try to upload it, I just get hit with an error message. Either it tells me "This is not a valid image file" or it just flat-out says "upload of image failed." It’s driving me nuts. I've tried everything, but it just won't work. Why does technology always decide to act up right when you think you've actually solved the problem? Any ideas?

I see a ton of people jumping in to talk about this issue, and honestly—it makes me wonder—couldn't the admins have done something to make this part a little less of a headache? It’s one of those things where you just lose the motivation to even participate when you run into such tedious, annoying hurdles... plus, these duplicate threads are just piling up and piling up. It's getting out of hand.

Anyway, I'm still reaching out—really—to anyone who’s actually managed to get a handle on this specific detail. If you've figured it out, please, I'm begging for some help here. Thanks to everyone for listening. Bog.

Oh, just one more thing—I was looking at my current avatar, right? It’s sitting at like 79.7 KB and 740 x 555 pixels... which, honestly, makes zero sense if you think about it. I mean, seriously, how is an image that big allowed to stay up here while the one I actually *want* to use—which is tiny, like 6.58 KB—gets rejected by the admins? What's the logic there? Is there even any?

So, I totally added him by accident—like, I didn't even realize he was sitting there in the profile until I actually opened it up to test out some other stuff first... you know how it goes. Honestly, though? There’s just something kind of weird going on with this forum... isn't there?
