Look, obviously most musicians focus on the music because that's how they pay the bills. But there’s a massive difference between someone pouring their heart and soul into a song because it’s what they’re feeling inside, versus someone just churning out a "hit" solely to chase a paycheck. There's zero art in that. Unfortunately, we can all see exactly what's going on—it's just that some people choose to look the other way.
I don't have anything against him... at least not if he wants to be effective.. If his goal is just to make bank—and if music is nothing more than a cash grab (which even Jesus Christ couldn't convince me of), then fine, let him go full commercial. But he should at least put in the work to learn the skills needed to actually make it in this industry.👎
Ugh... I actually moved the antenna so the signal is basically unwatchable now.. total tactical move to stop my mom and sister from watching those kids sing. And that idiot? From what I heard, he was trying to belt out Around the World by RHCP and didn't even know the lyrics. Eminem, man, just go buy a shovel and dig your own grave, you materialistic jerk.
Haha, man, I’m dying over here. This whole debate is honestly a joke. Look, there’s really no deep philosophy to unpack here. If someone thinks Thompson, folk music, or techno beats are better than rock, hey, whatever floats their boat. The more idiots we have crowding rural festivals, techno raves, or those Thompson concerts, the fewer of them there'll be left hanging out at the local bars.
Thanks for saying that. Really boosts my mood. The truth is, if it isn't rock, I think it's total garbage. 😁 Doesn't matter if people call me stupid—I love my music and I actually get it, unlike those crowds just vibing to whatever generic pop or EDM hits the radio.
Why all the heat right out of the gate? Okay, fine, maybe I oversimplified things a bit. It’s not like I hate everything else—I’m a huge jazz fan and I can handle ethno music just fine. I was just trying to say that rock holds just as much weight as the "serious" stuff. relax
Alright, depends on your taste, I guess, but let's talk quality. Music basically breaks down into three piles: the serious stuff, Rock (not Metal or punk... we're talking pure old-school Rock), and total garbage.
marlon said:- IS ROCK (R&B, BLUES, Metal, etc.) THE ABSOLUTE BEST THING THAT EVER HAPPENED TO MUSIC?.. I’m just waiting for the gatekeepers to jump in here and tear this "monstrous" idea apart..! If you guys aren't helpful (or if you are), there's more coming..!
Just two examples to kick things off: Stairway to Heaven, Hotel California
Has anything better actually happened? What do you think?
Wait, did nobody think to mention Stairway to Heaven?? It’s over eight minutes long, and honestly, it would suck if it were any shorter.
Or maybe Sir Psycho Sellah by the Red Hot Chili Peppers? That track is legendary and clocks in at 8 minutes too. What about Light My Fire? The best songs always seem to be the longest ones.🙏
