AC/DC is the absolute legend for me, and Nirvana is the ultimate cult icon. What about you guys?

And then there's the whole debate between Nirvana or Metallica

I guess Burzum is the most legendary band out there, and Darkthrone is just straight-up cult status...

For me personally, the most influential bands have always been Iced Earth and Blind Guardian...
But the absolute icons? That would be Iron Maiden and Metallica. .. you see half the guys in New York City wearing their shirts, yet I bet none of them could actually tell you a single thing about their music or name a single band member.

It’s really a toss-up between The Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin for the title of greatest, though Black Sabbath definitely holds the crown for pure cult status...🙂

If we’re talking about pure legend status, you can't really argue with The Beatles, though if you’re looking for that cult following, well, that kind of depends on which corner of the record store you hang out in...😉

In my book, the absolute legends have gotta be the Leningrad Cowboys 🙏 , though you can't deny that Blue Öyster Cult 🙏 holds that cult status.

That’s the problem—everyone listens to them, but nobody would actually die for them... only a tiny fraction of fans are truly dedicated. And honestly, what’s especially pathetic about Metallica and Nirvana is how people strut around wearing their shirts, but when you actually try to talk to them about the music, they don't even know 5% of the actual history. 😠

In my view, cult bands are those that never quite hit massive mainstream heights, yet for the small circle of people who actually know them, they carry more weight than Jesus... For instance—The Velvet Underground, The Stooges, MC5, The Birthday Party, Gang of Four, Nomeansno, and so on.
