If you really want to waste your own time, just Google your specific error: "Windows 7. build 7600. this copy of Windows is not genuine." You'll find a ton of answers on the very first page showing you how to fix it. Besides, we don't deal with piracy over here. 🙂

PS. Double-check that the Windows version isn't actually genuine but there was just some confusion during setup. Flip the laptop over while it's powered off and check the sticker on the bottom—see which Windows edition that key is actually for. Once you boot it back up, right-click on Computer and hit Properties. Right at the top of that window, it’ll list the "Windows edition." Check if that license matches what's currently installed. If the sticker says Home Premium but you're running Ultimate, then yeah, you're likely looking at a pirated copy. 🙂

The owner's been notified and he's going to handle it himself.

So, out of nowhere today, I get hit with this "not genuine" message right when I boot up. I just clicked through because, let's be real, I'm a total tech illiterate (unless everything is working perfectly, then I'm fine, I guess). Now there's this watermark in the bottom right corner saying 'Windows 7. build 7600. this copy of windows is not genuine.'
Everything seems to be running fine, except the taskbar at the bottom turned black and that annoying message won't go away.
I tried Googling some stuff to make sense of it, but all I found was scary-sounding jargon like "Safe Mode" and other nonsense.😁
The thing is, this laptop isn't even mine—I'm just borrowing it. It’s a newer model (an eMachines mini), and I'm pretty sure the software is legit since there's a sticker on the bottom with a product key.
Now a pop-up is asking me to "validate" my status, but it wants $199, which I definitely don't have.😍
What do I do now?
1. Just ignore it? Is it going to cause actual problems?
2. Reinstall Windows? (And please, kill me now, because I have zero clue how you'd even do that on a laptop that doesn't even have a disc drive.)
3. Give it back to the owner and pretend I have no idea what happened? Just kidding... mostly.

(I should probably nominate myself for the "Total Tech Failure" award, because seriously, if it's not a forum or Facebook, I'm lost.)😁

Bad parents? In my book, bad parents are the ones who have zero clue where their kids are at any given moment, what they're doing, or how they're performing in school. Basically, parents who are too wrapped up in themselves (or just totally checked out).

I see kids playing around the apartment complex all day and I don't mind, but I don't get how some of them are outside from sunrise to sunset. Sure, it's summer and school is out, but that's how it is year-round. These kids are filthy, rude, unwashed, etc. So where are the parents??

And those who demand a little respect and tell their kids "no" when they deserve it—those aren't bad parents. If anything, I'd say they actually know what their kids are up to and are trying to steer them right. It's a "tough love" situation.

So yeah, here we go, inventing punishments for the next generation. LOL.
