Hey everyone, so... I've been on Yasmin for about a year now (plus another year before a break, and a year before that), mostly because of my acne.
My skin is doing okay—definitely better than before. Those massive breakouts have mostly cleared up, though I still get the occasional tiny pimple here and there. So, I wouldn't say my face is perfectly "clear," which is really what I'm aiming for with hormone therapy...
Now, my dermatologist mentioned that since my sex hormones are pretty out of whack, I should probably start taking Diane-35 too. So, I wanted to ask you guys—what’s your experience with those pills? And should I be worried about them being harsher on my system than Yasmin?
Second thing—it's been a while since I've had my liver enzymes or cholesterol checked... I'm planning to get bloodwork done soon, but I have this nagging feeling the results might not be great. Just wondering ahead of time—what's the move if my liver isn't looking healthy but I need to stay on birth control? (Besides just quitting, obviously).

We’ve been in a steady relationship for 8 years now. Out of that time, maybe 5 years were spent on various birth control pills (like Yaz or Sprintec, or even Cinderella...), and about 3 years were off them—kind of like breaks.
Throughout all 8 years, we've dealt with yeast infections constantly, whether she was on the pill or not. They pop up at irregular intervals (anywhere from one to four months apart), happening at least a few times a year. The real headache is that her infections come with different kinds of discharge, plus intense burning and itching. It’s frustrating, and honestly, it takes a massive toll on our sex life and her mental well-being overall. 🙂
We’ve tried everything... various vaginal suppositories and creams (mostly Monistat or Nystatin), oral meds... not to mention all those "boost your immune system" methods (acidic supplements, vitamin blends, aloe vera stuff, noni juice...). So far, nothing has provided a permanent fix.
The only pattern we’ve noticed involves stress and sex: the more stress there is, the more frequent the infections. The same goes for sex... for example, a week of really intense activity almost always leads to an infection. I guess it all comes back to a weak immune system. 🙂
We aren't using any birth control right now... but yeah, the yeast is still there.
Basically, if anyone has had an experience where they struggled for years and then suddenly it just stopped—we'd love to hear about it. 🙂
I heard a story once about a woman who dealt with constant issues with Catherine. Luckily, her infections weren't painful or anything; the only sign was discharge. Anyway, her problems finally cleared up after she had her first baby—so, you tell me. 🙂
Has your Pap smear come back normal? I actually thought I just got yeast every single time after sex for a whole year, until it turned out I had CIN 2 and HPV... even using condoms, obviously. I was seeing a gynecologist regularly from day one, but that didn't save me from the HPV.
I’m with that guy above... there's no way Virginia causes yeast infections... I mean, maybe if someone has a really weak immune system, but that just means your levels weren't where they should've been anyway..
And another thing, I take Virginia for my acne, and there is zero chance I'm stopping...
And honestly, think about it—people take it for sex, and for some, it's their first time going without a condom, so that's probably more likely to be the cause than Virginia...
Like my doctor says, a vagina isn't sterile, and neither is a penis... when those two meet, you get all sorts of stuff 😁 some more, some less... maybe you both should have just gotten tested first before ditching the condoms...
I honestly think Marina is full of it, seriously... how dumb would you have to be? I mean, I don't believe you can just toss it like that; it feels more like she's just hurting herself and the baby... and even if what she says is true, it’s like, why would she come onto a forum and brag about it like someone talking about cheating on an exam?
Look, please... if you think only "uneducated" people listen to country music, you can just shove that opinion where the sun doesn't shine. I'm speaking for myself and most young people who actually enjoy this stuff. And the reason why—read carefully—is because sometimes, not always, we listen to it and actually want to go to those venues! It’s because you can just relax, dance to the rhythm, and let your brain go on autopilot. I probably know more languages than most of the crowd at Madison Square Garden, so I'm not trying to insult anyone... but why do you even need to judge someone based on their playlist? If you're out here overanalyzing country lyrics, you're honestly just desperate... but hey, maybe try listening to what's playing on the radio for once, and if you find some profound, life-changing meaning in there, let me know! 😉
I don't get why they even invited her on TV in the first place. She’s still "off," you know? The way she defends him and doesn't seem to see it as a tragedy anymore... honestly, it feels pretty messed up. Now that her whole story has been blasted out there and the entire country knows who she is, how is she ever supposed to have a normal life again? And that comment about her mental state—saying they didn't show her hair so she could change her identity... man, I guess nobody's actually going to buy that! 🙄
A buddy of mine is dealing with this "irritated" feeling... he described it like running your hand over sandpaper and feeling that sharp, stinging pain... just really uncomfortable... super irritated. But, unfortunately, my friend actually has chlamydia... and it’s pretty far along... He saw a doctor, but I guess he kind of stopped going to his appointments lately... Anyway... you should probably get your situation checked out by a doctor too... This stuff doesn't just happen for no reason... and it's not something that's just gonna last for years without help.
I used to feel totally out of it whenever I was on my period—just lying motionless in the bathroom for three hours at a time, drenched in sweat and everything...
The fix? Ever since I started taking Yasmin, I maybe just feel a tiny bit of tension here and there, and that’s about it. I’d definitely recommend it... 🙂
