Thanks.
I picked up some jeans and a few skirts and tops over at New Look. They’ve got jeans in three different lengths—petite, regular, and tall. 👍 I grabbed some classic skirts from Elviva—they list the length there, which is huge for me since I need to know where they'll actually hit on my body; those doll models they use just confuse me. It's more of a serious clothing shop, but you can find those timeless pieces that work for anyone, regardless of age. I ordered some dresses from Yours. Then there was ASOS for shoes and a recent haul of underwear. Got more underwear here too. And here is where I’m planning to treat myself to some boots—they aren't cheap, but they actually carry sizes for people with the widest calves in the world 😍.
Honestly, my life got so much easier once I stumbled upon this thread and started shopping online. 😍
🤣
(Well, everything except shoes—I’m a size 10 now, thank God, which is basically my standard at this point—and stretchy tees. My absolute nemesis? Bras. Always.
My issue is mostly just my body type—and I bet a lot of you ladies here deal with the exact same thing. There's someone in my family who wears a US size 16 (whereas I'm currently hovering around a 12 or 14 if the waist is super low), and she actually has an easier time finding clothes than I do. I think it boils down to the fact that I'm about 65 pounds heavier and maybe 7 or 8 inches taller than her. Even though she needs larger sizes than me, she fits into that "average" silhouette that most brands design for way better than I do. 🤷
We weighed ourselves together, too—so trust me, this weight stuff isn't some myth. Women definitely don't lie about it. 🙂
analogmoose2, look—I’m a plus-size woman, and even when I’m at my "normal" weight for my build (size 12 pants, size 14 shirts), it’s still a struggle. Even at my ideal weight, the only things I can find without a fight are stretchy tees—since I can usually squeeze into a Large if it clears my chest—and maybe some skirts. Everything else? Still a nightmare. Pants are always too short, shirts are impossible to find, and dresses only work if they have tons of spandex... So yeah, I’m a regular on this thread regardless of what the scale says—I just wasn't built for standard retail stores. The only thing about me that isn't oversized is my waist, but these larger sizes aren't cut to actually show off a waistline. That’s why I stick to shopping online—the selection is just way better.
A few years back, I was much closer to your size 😉, so I totally get why you’re doing this 🙂 while scrolling through posts from us 16/18s. Back then, I couldn't find anything that actually fit. The stress of hunting for clothes was honestly 🙂. And if anyone even mentioned the word "wedding," I’d instantly lose it. 🙄
Check out those links the girls posted; there really are shops out there with gorgeous stuff. Locally, I saw an H&M over at the mall that carried 50+ sizes and 3XL, but even then—it’s basically "buy whatever fits" rather than "buy what you actually like." Honestly, I think online shopping is your best bet because for a decent price, you can actually choose.
That whole "just wear whatever fits" thing—I think the women on this thread know that feeling all too well... You just lose the will to even bother getting dressed. 😢

Though, personally, I still find converting UK sizes to US sizes a bit sketchy...
So, I finally pulled the trigger on an order because I fell head over heels for this polka dot dress on sale. It was out of stock forever, then suddenly—boom—it popped back up. 😍 I figured since I was paying for shipping anyway, I might as well grab two more things. 🤣 Found a 10% off code too, so why not?
Anyway, this polka dot one is the culprit behind my shopping spree. 😍 ($58)
Got this green one for everyday wear. I suspect it’ll hit mid-calf—not super long, but hey, it’s fine for a casual summer dress. Might have to do a little sewing to fix the neckline, though. ($52)
And a skirt, mostly because that red trim is just too cool to pass up. ($39)
I went with a size 16 for everything, so we'll see how that works out. The description says 16 is like a US 18, so the skirt might be a bit big—fingers crossed. I have some dresses in a 16 from Loft, but those run like a US 16... Honestly, these sizing charts are a complete mess!
dustycyclist72 said:Simply Be gave their response... they have absolutely no intention of bringing it to America 😢
You can always try shipping to a small town—like maybe rural Nebraska—if they use standard mail (not sure how they handle their shipping, though). I personally can't be bothered with that—I've only done it when I absolutely, desperately needed something, and clothing just doesn't fall into that category. 🙂
The main thing is using standard mail, since courier services actually require someone to be there to sign for it. With the regular post, they'll just hold onto it for about 15 days before sending it back (you can even give them a call to see if it's arrived 😉).
Buying directly from these US stores usually isn't worth the hassle—if they even ship at all. Between the crazy courier fees, shipping surcharges, customs, and sales tax, it adds up fast. And if you try using the regular mail? It just ends up stuck in customs anyway. It almost never works out to be a good deal.
The only way to make it work is going through someone else—basically having a private individual forward the package to you...
Honestly, it depends entirely on what you’re looking for. I’ve been ordering stuff from the States for my hobbies for years now. I’ve only ever hit a snag with customs twice—and I knew those were coming because I was ordering bulky packages with equipment in them. Usually, things slide right through. I even had a medium-sized tool pass without an issue once (maybe because it was right before Christmas?). Most things get cleared easily since we just don't have them here.
Clothing and shoes, though? They don't let those through quite as easily. So, it's not always about the price tag—it's about what exactly you're importing.
That’s why I mostly stick to EU shops these days. But hey, if you find a dress in one of those US stores that you absolutely *have* to have, just shoot me a DM. 😉
I pop into C&A every few months. Last time, I actually tried some stuff on. My struggle is that with a lot of brands, if the fit isn't perfect or it isn't steamed properly, I end up looking like a total grandma. Or, if it's too tight, I look like I just rolled out of a dive bar in downtown Chicago. 😲 That’s why I really dig how these Igigi dresses are cut—even if most of the prints aren't really my style, the tailoring is super smart. They help neutralize my bust area, which can look pretty vulgar if I don't pick the right cut. 🙄 Even in a turtleneck, I feel like I look like I'm trying too hard. 😂 😳
But you stumble upon something decent every now and then. It’s not like I don't own a single dress or anything. 🙂
Cuts like this always make me look smaller: http://www.modcloth.com/shop/dresses...h-a-kiss-dress. That kind of V-neck that isn't too low... yeah, that’s basically the only top style that works for me.
This lady: http://www.igigi.com/ makes these magical dresses for curvy girls. Not every single one is my style—let's be real—but they’re definitely cut specifically for those of us with curves and chests. 😬 She actually knows what she's doing.
Only problem is the price tag—ouch. Some boutique in the UK resells them, and I stumbled upon it once. Shipping isn't too bad, but the actual dresses? The prices are absolutely astronomical. 😢
dustycyclist72 said:we should collectively bombard them with emails 🥳 and I really hope they reconsider—they have some great pieces, especially the bras 😍
I am quite fond of that blue jacket/trench coat over at Elvi 😁 but their inventory is incredibly thin 🤷
For now, I'll stick to Lisc to find my bras and just pick up everything else at your standard department stores.
There was actually a decent amount of stock over at Elviju—mostly stuff for older ladies, though they had heaps of classic pleated trousers in every color imaginable, a few modern skirts, and two or three gorgeous jackets. One jacket was particularly cute and trendy... but I didn't want to splurge on the pricey pieces until I checked out the cheaper skirts to gauge the sizing and quality. Apparently, they had an extra discount on already marked-down items one day, and everything just flew off the shelves. They’ll probably get autumn stock in soon, but even without the sales, the prices are a bit steep for my taste—that denim skirt of mine was £59... hmm, I wouldn't really drop that much, even if the quality is solid.
Dresses are honestly my biggest struggle—they’re pretty much the reason I even started hunting for shops online. It’s just hard finding anything that actually fits my weird proportions (I've got that pear shape, where my bust is about 4 inches wider than my hips). And then there's the length issue... :/ Local stores around here just don't carry anything that works for me. 🙂
But hey, I’ll find myself a dress shop that actually caters to people like me—even if it takes until my dying day. 😂

Yeah, their sizing feels a bit off, too. It’s kind of like shopping at New Look—you really have to aim for a 14 to get a 44, even though they list those vague measurements in centimeters on the side.
Has anyone actually ordered from them lately and can weigh in on the sizing? 🙂
dustycyclist72 said:I know they carry 44 in the regular H&M section—that's where I usually shop—but I'd really love to check out that plus-size collection. I'll swing by the mall, thanks.😁
That Elvi site definitely has some pieces that are a bit too "grandma" for my taste, though they aren't outrageously expensive. And they replied to me from that Simply Be page with nothing but a generic automated email. 😠 So, I sent them another one. 🙂
I knew they’d give you a canned response like that, haha. 🤣 Just keep at them. We need to bug them until they actually change their minds. 😬
Yeah, Elvi is kind of tacky. But it’s decent for basics—you know, those black trousers, belted coats, and things like that—mostly because the material is actually good and they hang nicely. I picked up a classic black A-line midi skirt from them once (the link is dead now, out of stock). It doesn't even look like it came from Elvi. 🤣 They also had two or three really nice winter coats/jackets, but everything sold out so I can't find the links. They're fine if you're looking for more classic, neutral pieces. 🙂 Basically, they hooked me with the length of those skirts. Most knee-length skirts elsewhere feel more like minis on me, which isn't really my vibe unless I'm down at the beach in the summer. This black one hits right at the knee, which I love (the description lists the length, so I could measure it beforehand to see where it would land). Plus, the stretchy waistband means they don't slide around.
They’re pretty pricey, sure—but when you finally find that perfect H/J cup, you’re just lucky you can even order it somewhere. The selection isn't exactly massive, either. At least in this thread, we all get what it's like. 😉
And they throw in some extra nonsense too. Honestly, I wouldn't blink at spending $30 or so on that. It's not like I ever found anything significantly cheaper back when I used to have things custom-made...
Trust me, I've paid my fair share for bras over the years. 🤷
Look, you shouldn't tell someone with a size 11 foot that there's a huge selection of cute, affordable shoes in a size 8 at the local mall. Someone with an 11 is going to pay whatever it takes just because they actually found a shoe that fits their foot. That's just how it works.
The person wearing a size 8 will shop around to get the best deal. But the person wearing an 11? They'll buy whatever they can actually find.
I have a friend who's a size 11/12. She pays way more for shoes than I do. I mean, damn, she doesn't have a choice. If I told her those prices were too high, would that somehow help her squeeze her feet into a standard size 9? Probably not. 🤷
Anyway, I won't get too deep into it anymore. This has been a great thread—I've already gathered a bunch of links and tips on where to look and what to watch out for. You guys are awesome. 😍 😍 😍
I'll let everyone know how the quality is from Figleaves and if it's basically like armor 🤣 that keeps everything held firmly in place (which is the goal, since I look much smaller in stuff like that). I'm waiting until after my vacation to order, just so the package doesn't show up while I'm out of town.
dustycyclist72 said:Everything looks decent enough online—though I haven't actually seen anything in person yet🤷 and the number is either 44 or 46😁
Well, you can find 44 at the H&M near the mall. The one over by the Arena definitely has it, and CC1 East too... I haven't been to the others in ages, so I can't say for sure.
Back in the day—before they started selling nothing but rags—the H&M in Austria had this amazing "Big is Beautiful" section. You could actually find some decent stuff there. Nowadays, I rarely find anything I actually like at their stores. That said, I did manage to snag some pants this spring that aren't ridiculously short and don't gap at the waist. They fit beautifully, honestly. So, if you dig around, you might get lucky. But you have to hunt for it.
I'm currently on vacation. I'll probably just order from Figleaves once I'm back from the beach.
I recently ordered from this site: http://www.elvi.co.uk/. Shipping was fast and the sizing was spot on. Next time I'll probably go for a 16 since most of their stuff is stretchy—they even have elastic waistbands—so if you're between sizes, I'd recommend sizing down. Prices are a bit steep, but you can find some reasonable deals during sales. And yeah, the cuts are mostly classic, but I dug up two lovely neutral skirts, one of which I absolutely adore. The clothes arrive neatly folded, and every single piece comes on its own hanger. 🙂 They even threw in a little gift. 😍 It seems like they’ve cleared out a lot of stock; the stuff left on the site is a bit quirky. But they aren't just selling junk, and this denim skirt looks even better in person. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on them—they might have some great classic jackets, like these. Though, yeah, they do lean a bit towards the eccentric side. 😬
Robert Perez72 said:I ordered from British eBay before and everything turned out fine. I used this to pick my size.
Now I'm thinking about ordering from http://www.figleaves.com/uk/. They have plenty of sizing options and some really nice bras. 😍
😍Thanks, I'll definitely check that out. Especially thanks for the size filter tip—that's actually why I stayed away from eBay in the first place. Those sizing charts are a total mess and I'm always so paranoid about getting the wrong fit, you know? I don't want to end up like I did with those pants and shirts 🙄.
The biggest one is 95G, and even that's on a tiny 🤣 size. Anyway, thanks—I totally missed that they carried that cup size!
I’m going to try eBay UK because I am seriously done with these tiny bras. I need something that won't overflow—and isn't way too wide in the band, otherwise, it just doesn't hold anything up properly.
I reached out to these guys at the start of the month. I actually had to message them twice because their first response was just some canned, generic template—so I asked if they even bother reading the messages. They apologized for the bot-like reply and said they'd probably let me down since there are no plans to expand to the US market anytime soon. 🤷
Thanks for responding to my venting session. 🙂 Sometimes I just get hit with this wave of frustration when I'm looking for clothes and shoes. And don't even get me started on furniture—my husband is an even bigger procrastinator than I am. 🤣
At our local Target, I’ve never found anything larger than a D cup (and honestly, I don't see anything bigger than a D on their website either), but that isn't even close to the DD, DDD, or E cups I actually need. Ideally, a 90J would be perfect, but if I could find a 100G, I’d take it in a heartbeat. For me, those C and D cups are okay for the absolute essentials, but they don't cover everything and they definitely don't provide any support... It feels like someone wearing a B cup when they actually need a DD or an E. Sure, you can get by if you size up for more width, but it still doesn't hold everything in... It’s just not enough for me. 😢 If I could find a proper minimizer in my actual size, I think things would look much better—smaller, less provocative. Just a bit more decent. Plus, I guess I could finally pick out shirts and blouses without a struggle.
I already sent an inquiry to that shop, and they told me they have no plans to expand to the US anytime soon. So, I basically told them they should just change their domain name to "Selective EU" instead. 🤣 ☕
Does anyone know if someone here carries tall jeans for women? I need an 86 cm inseam (34 inches), but in larger sizes—like a 44 or 46.
I’d also love some advice from anyone with similar measurements who shops at places like ASOS, New Look, or Dorothy Perkins.
I already ordered a size 18 in that length from New Look—which according to the math should be my size—but they are massive. Honestly, I’d probably need a size 14 just so they don't float around, especially at the waist. They're like boats—literally, I could fit a basketball in the gap. According to official charts, a size 14 is for an 80 cm waist, which isn't even close to mine, so I have no clue why the sizing is such a mess. 🤷
Being smart (or maybe just cautious?), I ordered them in two colors right away, so I'm definitely not stuck with just one weird pair—though both pairs are basically doing a swan dance around my waist. For now, I’m wearing them with a belt since I don't have any others (my old C&A bootcuts are long gone and I can't find 🙂), but before I dive back into online shopping... what sizes do you guys actually order? And for heaven's sake, how am I supposed to measure myself and actually get the right number?! 🙂
Hey everyone, I need some serious advice regarding bras. Honestly, I’ve spent my whole life squeezing into whatever I could find just because it was available—which isn't much. As I get older, it’s becoming an even bigger struggle since things don't stay quite as... firm as they used to be, if you know what I mean.
So, where do those of you with a larger bust actually shop?
Every time I use an online size calculator, it spits out something like a 40J or a 42H. I can't find anything like that anywhere! If I manage to track down a 40E—or if I'm feeling incredibly lucky, a 40F—I’m basically over the moon... but then the band is way too wide, while everything is still overflowing from the cups.
Do you have any online stores you'd recommend? Price isn't really the issue here—I just want quality pieces that actually provide support and won't fall apart after three washes. Ideally, somewhere that ships easily within the States.
Years ago, I used to have custom bras made, but that's not really an option anymore, and my old stash has pretty much disintegrated after years of wear.🙂
It’s the same story with pants... Anything that fits over my hips ends up swimming around my waist once I finally tug them on. Even when I order online—after measuring myself properly, mind you—they still come in huge around the midsection. At this point, I’m basically living in leggings or custom-tailored stuff, which definitely isn't the cheapest way to live.
And don't even get me started on shirts. Anything that actually fits my chest ends up looking like a literal tent on me.😠 I recently ordered a dressy blouse from New Look (went a size down based on their sizing chart, too!) and somehow, I still fit into it, yet it’s massive everywhere else—even though I measured myself five times before hitting "buy." Luckily, I have family members with similar builds who can take it off my hands...
Basically: where can I find bras that actually fit a large bust, and how are you all measuring yourselves for clothes online? Why are these size charts such a lie? It’s bad enough that we don't fit into "standard" clothing, but having to guess how much they've butchered their plus-size patterns feels like a joke. I get that they're playing psychological games, but it’s ridiculous that I realistically need pants at least two sizes smaller than what their website claims.
I stumbled upon this site and think it might help me navigate the next round of sizing roulette: http://sizes.darkgreener.com/.
Eric Barrett26 said:Hey girls, could you help me decide who to book? I’m torn between Major League Baseball, Pink Panther, Bomb, or Flash Band... does anyone happen to know what their rates are looking like lately?? Bravo and Viva are already booked up, and my date is October 9th, 2010. 😢 Thanks so much in advance, ladies...
And honestly, it's not even about whether I can hit the high notes—I just really need them to nail that legendary vocal harmony for us!! 🙄
Flash if you're into that more urban sound. 👍 The band is incredible, but honestly—it really comes down to who you're partying with. They can nail anything from Belan to the Governor, or even Guns N' Roses and Red Hot Chili Peppers. But if your crew only wants to dance to Mickey Mouse or Bešlić, then all that talent doesn't really matter.
So, my advice? Figure out exactly who you're trying to reach first—know your crowd—before you commit to any of these bands.
Thanks for the heads-up about the Liscine outlet, ladies—I swung by today and basically cleared out half the store. 😍
I walked away with 3 bras, 12 pairs of panties, 2 camis, and a bodysuit, all for just $257. 🙏
They definitely have cheaper stuff if you’re looking to save, but I ended up getting totally distracted by those pricier, fancy little lace pairs ($13). 🤣
