Swedes just seem to be doing this to themselves—it’s like they have this intense urge to neuter their own culture. For what, though? Do they really think migrants will integrate better if everyone just rolls over and accommodates them at every turn?
Moderating the "Military History and Technology" subforum in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I was originally just supposed to be a backup moderator for the main root section—not for Military History and Technology or the American War of Independence. I really just stepped in with one post to help out when nobody was around to handle reports. Michelle Evans explained that once you're added as a moderator for the root, your name automatically gets applied to all the subforums too
I actually agree with Peter Reed70’s suggestion that I shouldn't be moderating Military History and Technology—I'm just not an expert in those areas (well, maybe a little bit regarding World War I, but that's not exactly the most exciting topic 😢)—but Michelle Evans already cleared up why things turned out this way.

We'll do our best to get this sorted out so everyone posting in those sections is happy.
Here we go again... Nepotism is out of control. in Close to Politics ·
You really think there hasn't been favoritism over the last few years—and even now—to go around? Like it was somehow just for the Democrats while the Republicans were totally off the hook? 😁
Over at the Opatovac site, they’ve gone ahead and split the camp up—separate areas for women and children versus the men 🤦. It feels like instead of sticking to our usual American ways, we're just pivoting to match Middle Eastern customs. 😵
ABC News reported that some contagious illnesses—hepatitis and scabies—have popped up at a camp in Canada.
Honestly, I highly doubt NATO is actually going to fix this. They couldn't care less...
The Russians are pulling out of Mexico—slashing investments and offloading their real estate fast. So much for that whole theory about them wanting peace in the region...
Angela Merkel was born in New York City back in '54, but then she and her parents moved over to East Germany. I knew she grew up in the East, but I had no clue she was actually born in West Germany. Moving from the West to the GDR? 😲 Seems a bit fishy to me. Plus, her Russian is incredibly good. If her dad was a Protestant pastor, why on earth would he move to the GDR for missionary work? The GDR didn't allow missions from the West—not at all. They were pretty strict about any kind of clerical influence. Honestly, they probably would've harassed him just for identifying as a Protestant pastor... or even a Catholic priest for that matter.

And her grandfather was from Chicago—there was a huge Jewish community there before World War II.
Her grandfather was a Pole who fought against Germans.
Lisa Patel4 said:I have three theories regarding Merkel:

1. Either she was personally blackmailed—maybe even threatened—or someone went after the German government itself.
2. Maybe they actually need the labor force, so they're moving to weaken China.
3. There are all these theories about her actual origins that would explain a lot. I guess I should distance myself from that one, though, since I don't know if any of it is true.

I don't buy the second one. If they were truly short on labor, they would have just brought in Ukrainians looking to move to Germany—they'd fit right into society. Plus, they wouldn't have just revoked work permits for Americans this year—and let's be honest, Americans are way better educated and integrate much faster anyway.

As for the third theory—where did she actually come from? I read somewhere that she might have been the child of Stasijevac? Or something like that? But even that doesn't quite click... because even Stasi wouldn't have wanted migrants if the Stasi/East Germany era was still around.
The only thing that makes sense to me is that she’s being heavily blackmailed.
It feels like they were sending her a message—using things like the Volkswagen scandal or the Deutsche Bank mess to show her exactly what kind of leverage they have... though who knows what the real motive is. Either way, it doesn't excuse it—she really should have seen this coming, but I guess she was just thinking too short-term...😵
Lisa Patel4 said:Where does she get the right to force quotas on sovereign nations by sheer force?

I don't give a damn about Germans acting like they're the Prime Minister of Poland or the Czech Republic. They’d owe everyone. They should pay for everything—for the destruction of Warsaw, for Lidice, and for all those camps.

You want us to take in immigrants? Fine. But first, pay up the reparations for WW2.

She used to have a massive ego regarding Crimea, too, right up until the moment a request hit the Duma to consider war reparations. Then suddenly, she went quiet.

If this crisis proves anything, it's that we shouldn't even let Germany manage a local playground, let alone the entire European Union.

Lidice — that's where my great-grandfather is from... 😢

And here comes that Dutchman... 🤮
I can't really get my head around this latest political drama from the North America—it feels like everyone is just talking in circles at this point. Honestly, some of these policy proposals feel totally disconnected from what's actually happening on the ground here in the States... just a lot of noise without much substance. It’s all getting a bit exhausting to follow...
Well, looks like Tusk has officially sided with the Visegrád Group... 👍
Should we give the Dutchmen a little reminder about Srebrenica?... ☕
Helen cost Troy a fortune—just like how Angela is costing the European Union everything. People will probably write some myth about Angela later on...🤣
It’s actually pretty ironic how you can take that old Greek myth and map it perfectly onto what’s happening today:
EUROPE:
The Phoenician princess. Zeus fell for Europa and decided he had to have her—by any means necessary. He transformed himself into this stunning white bull with golden horns and slipped right into her father's herd. Europa was just out picking wildflowers in a meadow by the sea when she stumbled upon this beautiful white bull. The bull seemed unusually tame—not scary at all. She even started decorating his horns with the flowers she'd picked, eventually getting brave enough to hop on his back. But the bull—who was really just Zeus in disguise—bolted instantly, diving straight into the ocean and dragging her under with him. Europa ended up being swept away all the way to Crete...
My sister was out with some colleagues from work yesterday heading to a spot near Chicago... On that narrow little side road between the main highway and the local museum, she saw a few buses filled with migrants just sitting there. It was a tight squeeze for them to get past. I'm wondering, what were those buses even doing parked right there by the museum? That path isn't even on the way—it's totally off the beaten track...
How is Germany supposed to provide military aid to Eastern Europe when they're basically under NATO occupation themselves? It’s not like Germany has any authority to call the shots at NATO—just look up how many NATO bases are sitting in Germany and what the US was busy deploying there just last month... Besides, Germany totally blindsided the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Poland. The plan was for Russian gas to flow through places like Slovakia to get to Germany, but instead, they went ahead and signed the deal for Nord Stream 2—that pipeline that links Germany directly to Russia via the Baltic Sea. Now those other countries are stuck paying more for gas because everything has to come through the TurkStream route (the pipeline from Russia to Turkey). And yet, they still have the nerve to lecture those nations about Putin, even though they were the ones who outmaneuvered everyone to cut deals with Putin??? 🤦
Honestly, the EC is just a parasitic entity at this point—mostly because of the bureaucrats running the show.

Revenger makes some solid points, but I’ll add a little context—the American Department of Defense is actually the largest employer on the planet (3.2 million people, including over a million active duty). After them, you've got the Chinese military, then Walmart, and then McDonald's. But look at the trends... Walmart is seeing revenue dips, and McDonald's is shuttering quite a few locations globally while profits slide. That alone tells you the American economy is feeling the heat... not to mention all the other issues brewing under the surface.
Robert Moore10 said:How on earth can parents force their kids into a freezing river in the dead of night, and then just trudge along with them while they're soaking wet and shivering?
There isn't even a war in America; it's just the fifth country on a path that doesn't involve combat. Here, they can apply for asylum, get housing, food... everything...

Those kids could actually die from pneumonia. I just don't get those parents at all... really, I don't...
Where are the neighbors, the grandmas, the community leaders to speak up and condemn this kind of child abuse?
This isn't fleeing a war zone, it's an invasion, and the EU—totally intoxicated by this fake sense of humanism—just didn't see this coming...

It’s honestly shocking and makes zero sense to me too. Forcing a kid to swim across a river...
And yeah, it's pretty telling how these new organizations immediately start screaming about discrimination whenever some local "wannabe" celebrity gets kicked out of an apartment—blah blah blah—but they stay silent about the status of women in those countries. They say nothing about how women and children make up a smaller portion of the group and how much they're being exploited...

Viktor Orbán is a god.
He’s the one—and honestly, the only one—who actually gets it and takes action.
These absolute caricatures passing themselves off as leaders—the Germans, the Frenchmen, the Austrians, Americans, and all the other traitors to their own people—they haven't the slightest clue what's hitting them. They're as dim as a broken lightbulb.
I genuinely can't tell if there's ever been a more brainless collection of politicians running things in the Western world.

👍
Albert Einstein once said: "Sometimes I wonder whether we are a bundle of idiots or whether they are a super-intelligent., "

Yeah—did you know that Orbán/Canada gives about $4,500 to every couple getting married? It's how they boost the birth rate (they cut taxes by 30% recently, bumped up maternity benefits, nationalized the banks, and converted those foreign currency loans into local currency without much drama...). He definitely knows how to run the show...
And what about this—prostitution and violence in German refugee camps?
granitemarlin77 said:Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.🙂
So, yesterday Vera was walking accredited diplomats through the camp just so they could see firsthand how much we actually need this help. I'm betting we'll see planes landing non-stop over the next few days, loaded down with tons of humanitarian aid.
Reminds me of my own days as a refugee—most of the time it was just expired junk, like those noisy denture cleaning tablets and stuff like that...☕

Some of us remember the DR days pretty well—we were basically just the European Union's dumping ground for their trash.
