Hey everyone.
A family member is battling Stage 4 melanoma—it’s spread to the brain and basically everywhere else. They’ve been through immunotherapy, brain radiation, and targeted therapies, but nothing is working. Every single scan just shows things getting worse.
Lately, they’ve stopped eating, their mobility is shot, and they're mostly bedridden. I'm also noticing this weird communication gap—they clearly want to say something, but it’s like they can't find the words. When I ask them anything, they just don't respond. This is a recent thing, and it's escalating fast. I wouldn't call it "dementia" because they still recognize all of us perfectly fine—it's more like the brain and the speech centers have just disconnected.
Could this be caused by the brain metastases?
If anyone here has dealt with something similar, what should we be bracing for?
There’s this tiny, low-key little bakery we used for our wedding—and honestly, we've brought their cakes to a few other parties since then too. It’s called Merc (they're based over in Washington, D.C.) and man, their treats are incredible!! They go for $30/kg, which I totally think is worth it for the quality you get. Seriously, highly recommend!
Honestly, the best jeans I ever owned were my old Wranglers and Lees... I wore the exact same pair for four years straight before handing them off to my sister. They were basically indestructible! But since money’s been tight lately—ugh—I started picking up cheaper stuff from places like Zara, H&M, or American Eagle. And man, I can't even begin to tell you how much those brands suck. They barely last me a year tops; the denim thins out, and they start ripping at the pockets and the belt loops. It's a total disaster. In my book, it really comes down to this: you get what you pay for!>
Can't catch up on all the posts right now, got a quick question...
So, I want to ship a package via USPS—not FedEx—and I need to make sure the recipient pays both the item value and the shipping cost. The lady at the post office told me that since my package is under 2kg, it'll be $6.00 for pickup (or $20 for home delivery), plus $2.50 for the COD amount, and then some extra $3.00 on top of that (what even is that??)
I’m totally lost—what am I actually supposed to write as the value on the box?
For example, my stuff is worth $17. Do I just write $17 on the label, or should it be 50+18(or 20)+7.14... basically $26 so I get the shipping covered immediately, or what??
Ugh, it's my first time doing this and I am completely clueless...
help pleeease
We always grab our cookies and cakes from Mercer, $23/lb and honestly, they taste just like homemade—plus they've got basically every kind you could want 😉
Tyler Bennett29 said:So, I just stumbled upon this thread by total accident! Since I’m getting married soon, I figured I’d pop in to see what everyone’s talking about... and wow, there is a *ton* of debate going on here about where to grab the wedding cake and pastries. Anyway, after a massive marathon of discussions with my fiancé and both our families, we finally settled on getting our treats from Magnolia Bakery. I’m tying the knot this September, and man, I wanted to get the dessert situation sorted ASAP. Seriously, I practically drove through every single suburb of Chicago looking for exactly what I wanted, and in the end, Magnolia Bakery was the winner. Their stuff is incredible. When we went in to finalize everything, they were so sweet—they even let us sample some and gave us extra to take home! They are honestly one of the most affordable options out there at $23/lb. We actually picked up a chocolate cake from them last week for a baby shower, and oh my god, it was divine. So creamy, exactly how I like it
Sent you a DM—could you please send over the info for that bakery (address, phone number, etc.)?

Your options depend entirely on your budget. In Washington, D.C., you're looking at anything from $75 up to $40...
Someone on here mentioned that Absom bakes specifically for Bill, and that all their cookies taste basically the same—now I'm stuck in a massive dilemma because they fit my budget perfectly ($18/lb) .... 😢
Even Mus has some haters out there... 😢
Donna Chase12 said:Honestly, 10-15 lbs is definitely enough for you guys... I’ve already mentioned that when I was catering for 120 people, I went with about 45 lbs, and half of it just sat there... And that was for a winter wedding—you'd think people would be craving sweets more when it's freezing out compared to some summer heatwave—but yeah, there was just way too much food left over.
So, we're looking at 10-15 ounces per person, and if we're doing little favor boxes for guests, maybe another 10 ounces per box? 😉
feralmoose32 said:You definitely don't need a quarter pound of cake per person—I mean, that’s basically a massive serving if you think about it...
Well, I’ll certainly be eating my share, but let's just say I'm not exactly following the rules here...🤣
You really should aim for an average instead—personally, I'd say a maximum of about half a pound per person is plenty...
I can easily polish off half a pound myself, so I probably shouldn't judge based on my own appetite😁 but honestly, I feel like bakeries just overstuff those poor little treats just to jack up the price. Let's be real—with a full spread of food on the table, who's actually going to gorge themselves on dessert?
Plus, spending $50 or more just on sweets... personally, I'd rather save every cent for home renovations instead of blowing it on overpriced cake... 😕
I don't even know what else to say... 🤷
silverscout91 said:For a group of 120, we usually stick to about 7 kilos. That works out to roughly half a kilo per table, and since there are about 30 to 35 little treats in a kilo, it seems sufficient for a table of 8 to 10 people. Besides, we also have various desserts laid out on the buffet; these small bites are really just meant to be an extra option.
The word I heard was more like 0.5 pounds per person. For 120 guests, that’s basically 50 some odd pounds of cookies... 😲 So, yeah, $640just the cookies, not counting any cake...
And that’s strictly for the venue—not including anything brought from home or extra treats to hand out later... 👎
If anyone knows a spot with better prices (maybe around $1.50-$20/lb) that actually delivers, let me know! I'd really appreciate it. 😉
William Parker61 said:Hey ladies, I’ve finally finished sorting out the cake! The search ended at Monica’s bakery in Newport. I went ahead and ordered the cupcakes 🙂
I had one of their cakes at a birthday party once and it was killer. Have you ever tried any of their stuff specifically for weddings?
I was actually thinking about heading out toward the suburbs to check out that Chocolate cake place—supposedly they're just as good, right? ??????
Any chance you remember what the price per pound is over at Monica?
Thanks! 🙂
Anyone else got a solid lead on an orthopedist or hand surgeon???
I was told to check out Bilic over in the Salad district, but man—the waiting list for a consultation is months long, and if you actually need surgery? You're looking at two years. I seriously can't wait that long.
thanks
Drew Gonzalez75 said:Which stores actually carry stretchy denim these days? I’ve been noticing they seem to be getting harder to find lately...
I'm not talking about those jeans with just a tiny 2% stretch—you can still find those. I mean something with more give, maybe even a polyester blend mixed with the cotton, just so they’re genuinely flexible.
Also, they need to come in long lengths. I usually wear a 32 or 34 inseam, though I could probably pull off a 36 if needed.
Zara...
Man, my struggle is being stuck in that cursed middle ground... 😕 if they fit my butt, I can't button them at the waist—or vice versa. Total disaster. I've mostly just stuck to Wrangler for years, but I grabbed my last pair from Zara and they were awesome—super stretchy. 😉
Has anyone ever tried jeans from
Kenbell's????
placidcyclist31 said:Wrangler is my go-to—hands down. I’ve owned them for years and they still look brand new. 😁 The real difference? They actually hold their shape. Unlike LTB, Mustang, or Levi’s—which basically lose all structure after one wear—Wranglers stay put. With those other brands, you practically have to wash them after every single use just to get them tight enough to fit right again. It's incredibly frustrating. 😠
Totally agree 🙏
Wrangler jeans are insane when it comes to quality—not a single pair has ever stretched out on me! I've had some for 4 years now!!!! Sadly, I had to retire this season's pair forever... not because they changed, but because I definitely did. 🙄😁
If he were on the left, he could've smoked a joint and picked up a wife for ten bucks while he was at it... 🙄
Wrangler—look, I'm super skinny, so these are literally the only jeans that don't start sagging off my butt after two days of wearing them... 🙏
1. basically—how my ass looks in them
🙂
