Anthony Hall83 said:With certain venues, you’re basically looking at two different routes. One option is to go all-in with them—they handle everything from the catering to the bar service, which is bundled right into the hall rental, and then you just pay a per-head fee. The other route is to rent the space separately and bring in your own crew—hiring your own chefs and servers while sourcing your own food and drinks... some people swear by this because, honestly, it can end up being way more budget-friendly if you play your cards right. As for linens, it’s a bit of a toss-up depending on where you book; some places include them in the base price, while others will tack on an extra charge if you need $2.25 or more...

Just to add to that:
With some halls, you're just paying for the space itself (which includes the room, the chefs, and the staff), but you have to source the actual food yourself!
And I guess there are tons of different combinations too. Like, maybe you pay per head, but instead of the full menu, you pick up the desserts and spirits somewhere else—that usually brings the cost down a bit.

There are like, a million different ways to mix and match! I guess it’s probably best to pick a venue first, see what they offer, and then figure out what works best and what makes the most sense for your budget.

Where can I find a wedding dress hoop or crinoline around Indianapolis, VK, or Vu? I know they're on eBay, but I don't have the time to hunt through shops in New York City, and honestly, I'm not even sure if I'll make it there in time if I go.

Maybe try asking a local bridal boutique if they’d be willing to just rent out the crinoline itself (and maybe the hoops too, if you need them)?

Robin Chase7 said:I was wondering if anyone could point me toward a good beverage distributor out in the Midwest? Ideally, I’m looking for someone who wouldn't mind us settling up the tab after the wedding is over, and it’s super important to me that we can return any leftover drinks we don't end up using!

Is Jess located right across from the library in Indianapolis?!

If they are, I definitely wouldn't recommend them. A really close friend of mine went there to get her nails done for her wedding party. She went on Thursday right before the big day, and then had to rush back on Saturday because they all started lifting up. It was just a terrible job.

I've also heard some bad things about the lash salon over by Plodin and Vissag.
The makeup is okay, and the girl working at Stanfelica’s office is great, but skip the lashes—they aren't any good.

I was actually looking for the exact same thing a little while back. It’s basically impossible to find around here.
I heard there might be something over in Des Moines—I even managed to snag a phone number—but nobody ever picks up. There’s someone on this forum who mentions it too, but honestly? Zero help.

The farmers market in Indianapolis is open every day now, but if you're really looking for a huge selection of flowers, don't expect much from just a local market setup.

I think I'll just grab my drinks from the Oracle warehouse in Indianapolis, mostly because they have that option where you can return whatever you don't end up finishing.
Well, there's also the Walmart selection. As for Columbus, I'm not really sure... but honestly, you're probably better off just sticking to one of those big warehouses.

I was wondering if any of you guys have ever ordered wedding flowers from Iris over in Indianapolis?

Also, has anyone checked out that hair salon in Ivankov—I think it’s called Marina in Ivankov (it's run by Marian, Marina, and Snow, and they're basically just a bunch of local guys)?

Man... I've just got a million questions on my mind today! 😁

Jacob Barrett24 said:frozenangler87, Studio 54—that specific style is quite good, at least from what I can recall of my own experiences... so, yeah... 😉

Wait, is Studio 54 down there near the Admiral?

Does anyone have a recommendation for a solid hair salon in Columbus? Please! 🙂
I heard that feminine place was supposed to be good, but I actually went there once and honestly, I wasn't really feeling it. 😢

My regular stylist is all the way in Indianapolis, and I just don't feel like driving out there on a Wednesday. I've got my wedding coming up in three months and I'm low-key freaking out that I won't find anyone or that every single salon will be fully booked by then!

Ugh, I’m just sitting here reading this and realized I totally need to chime in.
So, some friends of mine were over last night, and they were telling me all about how they spent last weekend in Indianapolis for a wedding. They had Fleetwood Mac playing, and the whole thing went down at a hall in a nice Suburban neighborhood.
They said the guys are seriously talented—I think they might even have a female vocalist too, if I heard them right? Anyway, they gave it a solid 5/5! Such an awesome set!
The only thing—and it was a pretty big deal—was the sound system. It was WAY too loud! Like, you couldn't even hear your own thoughts, let alone anything else! Apparently, their ears actually started hurting from how deafening it was.
I’ve never actually been to that venue before, though... maybe it’s just a smaller space? 🤷
But yeah, definitely keep that in mind!

No way! I was actually just there two weeks ago and they told me the exact same thing! It’s right near those coffee shops, too, in the first section. Hmm... Hmm.... 🤷

cosmictiger67 said:Everything is incredibly affordable. You can grab 100 balloons for 3.1 miles, or 100 drawstring bags for 6.2 miles. 🙂
(Just to provide some perspective, a single drawstring bag here in the States runs about $1.80, or roughly $0.53)
As for the fabric—I picked up 10 meters of material (1 meter wide) for just 6.2 miles.

Wait, when did you actually shop for this?!
I was just at the mall like two weeks ago and they didn't quote me anything even close to those prices! For example, you're saying the bows are like 40 cents each, but they told me they were 80 cents a piece.
A pack of 100 medium white balloons would be 7.5 miles or $15. 🤷
Those heart decorations made out of bows for behind the newlyweds were maybe $50...... I can't quite remember exactly..... 🤷

I think I mentioned that I've been there before.

Maybe check out Freeport in VA.
Here’s the link: http://www.freehouse.biz/. They don't have it listed online, but I guess you should just give them a call... maybe ask if it's worth driving all the way to VA if you aren't local. 😉

Editor: Oh, I totally forgot to mention—I was up in Kentucky this weekend for a quick trip, so I was basically just burning gas and checking out some wedding stuff along the way. There are actually tons of ready-made sashes there. Like, whatever your heart desires! And they aren't even that pricey. A basic little sash is around $0.67 per piece.
Honestly though, most of them look a bit too tacky for my taste. I mean, I'm not really a big color person, I guess. But I bet a ton of girls would find something they love there.
They've also got heaps of ring pillows, if that's your thing...
And yeah, those car bows: the big ones are about 80 cents each, and those huge heart-shaped ones are around $43.

But then again, when you factor in the price of gas, I wonder if it's even worth it.... 🤷
Still, if you were planning on picking up other stuff anyway (like a bag or a tracksuit, etc.), then it might be worth the trip....

Ethan Chase75 said:Do you happen to know if I can just hire their servers and drinks without the trays? My boyfriend is handling the food since I'm hosting at my apartment, so it doesn't make sense to bring in extra hands when it's already going to be crowded 😉 and we have our own trays because he keeps everything at home specifically for occasions like this, so we won't need theirs..

I mean, wouldn't it be easier to just get the drinks from a warehouse or something where you pay as you go and return the rest? Then maybe you could just get the servers from that Bulgarian guy????

Does anyone have a recommendation for a solid hair salon in Indianapolis? I'm looking for something other than Style or Douglas!
Also, I was wondering how far in advance I should probably book an appointment!

Jacob Barrett24 said:Greetings, ladies...
So, here is the thing... I have a bit of a question for the group...
Does anyone here happen to have firsthand experience with the Natalie deli in City? Specifically, the one located right off the highway between VK and Tulsa... I am curious about the quality of their service, their pricing, and whether the space itself is comfortable. Thank you all in advance. 😉👋

Man, some really close relatives of mine had their wedding there just a few months ago. And, I guess, my impressions weren't exactly great. I mean, maybe that's why they're constantly advertising that they have free weekends available.
Basically, when they went to get a quote, they were told the price was $5667, but then on Sunday after the wedding, the manager asked for $6333, so it's like they didn't really agree on anything.

As for the food, I don't really know because my relatives brought all the food themselves. But even what was cooked there wasn't, like, super tasty. The soup was lukewarm, the mushroom sauce fillets were just okay... and the lamb was cold!
If you're thinking about having lunch there the next day, you should probably talk to the chef about reheating everything, because lunch there was kind of a disaster. Everything that was cold on Saturday night was, well, even colder on Sunday.

The service is just okay, I guess... You sort of have to nudge the waiters to come over because they just hang out near the kitchen entrance and aren't exactly being super proactive with serving.
And I also heard that the owner might be doing something shady with the drinks since there's a cafe right in front of the hall that stays open on Saturdays while people are having weddings.

All in all, my rating for that place is pretty low!

I'm trying to brainstorm some cool interior spots that would look good for a painting, but honestly... I'm totally stumped. Like, nothing is coming to mind at all!
Everything feels way more focused on the outdoors lately! 🤷
