Dealing with hemorrhoids – any advice? in Health ·
Michael Diaz4 said:...

So the real question is why most hemorrhoid creams are loaded with corticosteroids...

That’s just not right.

Michael Diaz4 said:...

From what I've dealt with, the stuff with lidocaine worked best, and that was the only thing my professor ever prescribed... So yeah, lidocaine is fine...

The way a local anesthetic—like lidocaine—works has absolutely nothing to do with corticosteroids, which means it has zero connection to my point or what Hulleck was saying.

Michael Diaz4 said:Those creams are great for hemorrhoids, but again, if we're just talking about hemorrhoids...

Nah, corticosteroid creams aren't "super" for hemorrhoids. They aren't even good, let alone useful. Sure, they work to dial down inflammation in the short term, but the side effect is that your skin—especially the mucous membrane!—starts thinning out. It loses its elasticity, gets all dry, and then it just cracks easier and easier. You don't need that happening anywhere on your body, especially not in the perianal area.

So, basically: NO.
Stomach issues after my trip to Egypt in Health ·
Check out the PDF below—under the Tourism section, there’s a ton of chatter about trips to North African countries. People usually pack activated charcoal just in case, or maybe even some Seldiar (though you'll need a prescription for that one)... how long has this been bugging you?
Pharmacy recommendations? in Health ·
Yeah, people were hitting me up asking for the recipe, so I figured I’d just put it all down here; plus, it’s become super obvious that they jacked up the price way higher just by changing the packaging. Honestly, that felt like their whole game from the start. But whatever, no point in tilting at windmills...

Sorry, but can you seriously not see how absurd this whole thing is? Like, it’s suddenly become this "high-risk substance" overnight, even though they've been selling it over the counter forever...

I mean, looking at it from a pharmacy's perspective, sales for the solution must have absolutely tanked, right?

edit: my bad.

p.p.s. yeah, I actually had someone asking me for a prescription for it at the pharmacy today.

swiftbear86 said:Actually, that isn't a decision made by Medicare, it’s more about how Halmed handled the drug's re-registration.
Since this physiological saline is registered specifically as an infusion solution, you technically need a doctor's recommendation to get it.

Of course, if someone wanted to misuse it at home by using it as an infusion, they could.

But that's a different story—most people are just picking it up to rinse out their noses, throats, or wounds.
De facto, a pharmacist could actually face penalties if they sold it without a prescription while it was still in its original packaging.
That’s why you see pharmacies splitting it up into smaller bottles.

I’m pretty sure the big retail chains are going to drive prices way down, so really, we're looking at an issue of unfair and incompetent competition.

If we're going by that logic, we might as well require a prescription for table salt and tap water too, since people could technically misuse those at home. Honestly, how many people in the entire history of medicine have actually hurt themselves just by messing around with saline solution in their own kitchen? There are literally thousands of substances way more dangerous than this sitting on shelves in every pharmacy and grocery store right now.

I only brought it up because it was a specific example I ran into myself (I used it to store my contact lenses)—you know, the whole idea of regulating and restricting something that's been easily accessible for decades. I'm positive there are plenty of other examples like that out there...

I honestly don't see a huge wave of people hitting up the pharmacy just to pick their brains without actually buying anything... I mean, let's be real, the pharmacist's vibe and how they handle you is exactly why someone would choose a CVS over a corner bodega or a gas station, assuming everything else—like distance, price, and hours—is pretty much the same.

But, since we're already talking about the absolute nonsense coming out of Medicare lately—why on earth would anyone decide that you can't buy a half-liter bottle of saline solution without a prescription? Like, seriously? How is that even being abused?
electricorca19 said:And what about uneven nostrils after surgery, will they even out? And when can I actually smile again? I had my nose done just 7 days ago and it looks weird, kind of fake... I don't know, I'm scared I made a mistake. Please help...

Look, you really shouldn't judge how your nose looks until at least three months have passed. Do yourself a favor: take some photos today—front view, half-profile, and full profile. Then, in a month, do it again from the exact same distance, the same angle, and under the same lighting. Do it again at two months, then three. You’ll see the changes way more clearly that way than if you're just staring at yourself in the mirror every single day.

I mean, obviously it looks artificial after only one week... everything is still super tight and looks plastic because of all the swelling.
If I can just squeeze in one little side note... you really have to keep those potassium and magnesium levels steady, like, every single day. It’s not some thing where you can just "test it out" once in a while or maybe once a week and expect it to work...
Sean Harris8 said:Hey there,
So, like, two months ago my doctor gave me a referral for a specialist. I jumped on it immediately and booked an appointment for next week. But... I think I lost the actual paperwork. Does that mean I'm totally stuck and can't go? Is there any way at all to still make the appointment like we planned?

your primary care doctor can just hook you up with a new one, they'll just mark it as a duplicate
Ordering medication from overseas in Health ·

Hey everyone, please take a second to look over the health forum rules, specifically this part:

6. It is strictly forbidden to promote or discuss illegal activities...

So yeah, you can't be coming in here asking how to dodge US regulations. Sorry, doc. (Just to be clear, this applies to prescription drugs, not everything you can order from overseas)

Fainted during a blood draw in Health ·
What you’re calling a "psychological baseline" is probably just a bunch of traits you've lumped together—maybe based on someone you know or something... but honestly, this over-the-top reaction the OP is talking about? That’s just the autonomic nervous system doing its thing. It’s a physiological response. Most people don't experience it quite like this, but it’s definitely not unheard of. And when it actually kicks in at the right moment, it's literally a lifesaver.

If you really need to, you can dial it back through practice and prep work over time, but for the most part... it’s just out of your hands.
Fainted during a blood draw in Health ·
Look, we aren't talking about some "psychological complex" here—it’s more like your body just went into total overdrive for an injury of that level. It's basically just an extreme physiological reflex... you know, that classic adrenaline rush where your blood vessels constrict and all the blood rushes toward your core organs to protect the essentials. The whole "fight or flight" thing... probably sounds familiar. There's really zero reason to stress out or go see a doctor over that specific reaction (unless, obviously, you need medical attention for the actual wound itself)
Since nobody seems to be getting the point here, I might as well go over this one more time:

Man, that’s nowhere near enough time to see the final result. There are absolutely going to be more changes coming... just gotta have some patience 🙂
Swollen palms in Health ·
if that’s really the only thing changing 🙂 then you don't have much to worry about (though you should probably keep an eye out for any swelling in your hands or feet).

that stuff you're seeing on your palms? just your blood showing through more clearly than usual. they can look dark, red, even blueish... there's a ton of info about this online if you want to dig deeper, maybe check out something like http://mojabeba.motion-forum.net/t18...ene-u-trudnoai

Look right above your post—you'll see "Search this thread" sitting there between 'Thread Tools' and 'Rate Thread.'

If you just type in 'silencer' in there, you’re gonna get hit with like ten pages of posts (way too many for me to go through and link everything that might actually matter to you 🤷 so, honestly... you're probably better off doing the digging yourself)
