Paul King78 said:Look, I’m a total amateur when it comes to martial arts—Wikipedia and Google are pretty much my only sources of info right now. But Google isn't giving me the real scoop on what the scene is actually like in Los Angeles, so I figured I’d ask you guys. Out of all these self-proclaimed "masters" out there, who are the genuine experts teaching classes that you’d actually trust? I know the options aren't endless and most people just cycle through the same few styles. If I had my pick, I’d go with Muay Thai or Ninjutsu. Since I don't get to choose, I’d at least like to train under someone who truly knows their stuff. Are there actually any real deal instructors left?

From what I recall, there isn't a single Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu gym in Los Angeles that hasn't been torn apart by someone else in the city. My advice is to go check out a few different clubs. See which one feels right and which style you actually enjoy. You're going to find people who support you here, and you're going to find people who criticize you there. It happens everywhere.
George Martin70 said:-who are these people who actually claim to know what internal martial arts are, and which ones
are they actually teaching?
-why are these styles called "internal" if they don't have anything to do with chi (you just
read someone's type and master them from the inside out 😛 ) and why are they even labeled
as internal if they're just based on coordination and God knows what else, and is
Chekhov's WC also an internal art?

Ninjutsu is essentially just aimless joint locks thrown around everywhere. It doesn't build stamina, it doesn't get you in shape, and it isn't relaxing like sitting on a couch. Plus, the techniques don't actually serve any purpose, not even for killing time.
When exactly was a martial art supposed to be used to kill an opponent?
People have always had weapons. If someone is more skilled with them, or if they simply own higher-quality gear, we’ll just let the bank account decide who wins...
