Intimate care routine advice? in Women's Health ·
rowdyotter65 said:I think you can find $30 at most local pharmacies.

Honestly, any drugstore should have it—it's seriously great stuff 🙂

I wouldn't let him through the door either...

Anyway, how old are you?

It's the truth... unfortunately, they'll step over any body to get what they want.

People struggling with Heroin addiction are still people—they deserve support. Just because your boyfriend is using doesn't mean he’s some lost cause or uneducated 🙂—I've seen plenty of highly educated folks get swallowed up by Heroin... once that spiral starts, intelligence doesn't protect you anymore.
You really need to think about what you're stepping into here. Maybe talk to his psychiatrist or dive into some specialized forums dedicated strictly to these kinds of struggles. You have to fully understand the reality of the situation before you can sit down with him and honestly weigh if there's actually a path toward recovery.

Hang in there, girl 🙂

😂 Sadly, they don't always have them... so if they're missing, you just grab a referral and go wherever you can. It's nothing weird, we live in Washington, D.C., after all. It makes sense that if you're lucky enough to land at a well-equipped social clinic with their own ultrasound, you won't need a damn referral.🙂

If you need an ultrasound, you’ll need to grab a referral from Dr. Gini... he should be able to point you in the right direction regarding which hospital or clinic can actually get it done.
For the health center address—it's over at 14 Forest Park Drive—just head to the second floor to leave everything.

I mean, I think you're actually closer to the Spanish Flu epicenter anyway 🙂 look, just decide where you want to take your samples—or maybe just go get some advice from Gini.

You can get an ultrasound through Medicare, but be prepared to wait. I still have my referral for the Mayo Clinic, but I ended up going private and paid $167 for both the exam and the ultrasound. With private clinics, you actually get seen right away. If you go through Medicare, I'm not sure how long the wait is, but I'd guess at least two weeks, if not a full month 🤷

If you're really feeling the pressure—and trust me, I am, and honestly still am—just cut down the waiting time wherever you can! Get your bloodwork done through Medicare since those results come back relatively fast, because private labs are expensive as hell... they'll charge you at least $233!!
As for the ultrasound, I think you can find one starting at $83. Just call around to some local OB-GYN offices and see what they say.

Sandra Adams39 said:I was just scrolling through that thread about the four swabs every woman needs—and man, one girl mentioned she actually used her Medicare to cover the cost... she even broke down exactly how much she paid for each one.😕

I mostly just stick with supplemental insurance—it's usually enough for me, you know?

If you’ve got supplemental insurance, they won't charge you a dime. Honestly, your best bet is to hit up Gini early in the morning—just get those swabs done and grab your referrals. You can take everything over to Arlington (they’re open 8-1? Just call 4696-303 to double check) or head over to Remetinec. I think they’re accepting samples at Remetinec through Wednesday or Thursday—you can reach them at 6521-229 or 225.
If you need anything else—just give those numbers a call and ask, okay?

Got the link too—want it?
So, I was just checking out some info on how to handle lab samples—basically the ground rules for what you can actually send in for testing? It’s pretty straightforward, really—just make sure everything is labeled right and sent over properly so they don't have to toss it... because who has time for that? Does anyone else find this stuff super tedious to keep track of?

If you want the results in 5-6 days—and if you’re living near the local clinic—you can drop off the swabs there any day except Thursday or Friday. Otherwise, just swing by the NYC public health department (either at the Arlington office or the other one) on any weekday—just make sure you get there early in the morning.

Unless you have supplemental insurance, you’ll have to pay a little something. My boyfriend ended up paying about $17
for three swabs.
Looking for a specialist... in Health ·
Hey, I'm looking for a good GP around the Brooklyn area... maybe near Lincoln Park, Oakland, or even over by Chelsea

Thanks!

ps—just please, anyone but Vance's clinic!
Dealing with Herpes? in Health ·
Arthur Ramirez7 said:If you feel like your herpes is constantly popping up and spreading, the only real way to get ahead of it is to focus on boosting your immune system while working to dry out those active spots—personally, I swear by using some zinc ointment and those little medicated patches.

And whatever you do, please do NOT try slathering on toothpaste or liquid foundation to hide it, because you’re just asking for a permanent scar or a nasty dark spot to stay on your skin forever!!!

Don't mess around when it comes to herpes!! It's pretty common knowledge that being out in the sun makes outbreaks even worse!
Dealing with GERD? in Health ·
😲 Poor thing! I mean, seriously—everywhere you look, they tell you to eat lots of small meals. Just find food that actually works for you without triggering that GERD... and try to lower your stress levels (though honestly, who can even do that these days?)
I’ve been dealing with chronic gastritis myself... I didn't even realize what those first symptoms were back in September of last year 🙂 and I've been in treatment since May, but the pain, the choking feeling, the nausea—it's all still there. It really just depends on what I eat.
But I did figure one thing out—softer foods are way easier on my stomach. Maybe try starting off with some kind of purees or something?
Stubborn canker sore? What should I do? in Health ·
It isn't swollen up like a pea—doesn't look like a fistula either—and it still hasn't cleared up 😁

Raymond Ortiz89 said:I really wish I could go see a specialist right now, but I can't because I'm heading out on a trip to Italy. From what I can tell, that isn't a canker sore; it sounds more like a fistula. I dealt with something similar back when I was younger, if that's indeed what it is, but usually, with those, you press on the area in your mouth and it bursts—though I've never experienced anything like that happening in my throat.

A fistula?? What even is that?
Stubborn canker sore? What should I do? in Health ·
My throat feels full of "canker sores"... or at least that's what my doctor says, though honestly, none of the photos I see online actually look anything like what I've got going on 😢 mine are more like tiny blisters—kind of like little raised bumps filled with yellowish fluid. They range from microscopic to about 2mm. And they've been hanging around for maybe 15 days, if not longer. I didn't even really check my throat until last Friday when the massive pain in my throat, stomach, and esophagus just hit me all at once.
The doc put me on Lanzul for my stomach, scheduled a gastroscopy, and gave me some Royazol gel. I've been sucking on that gel for 15 days now, but these "sores" don't look like they're planning on leaving anytime soon 😢 I picked up some Lysobact because a friend suggested it, but after I tried sucking on those tablets, my stomach started burning so bad I had to quit using them.

Raymond Ortiz89, it might actually be smartest for you to start with your stomach and get some tests done first.
I've got my gastroscopy today, so hopefully that leads to actual treatment and finally ends this pain🙂
