Buying a new PC is out of the question—this thing is basically an antique (and I’m being dead serious, not sarcastic). Just let me know how much cash we need to pool together so we can actually make something happen.
I noticed yesterday that my C: drive space is just vanishing. After falling down a massive Google rabbit hole, I found out the winsxs folder is eating up over 7GB of my 20GB Windows directory. I already ran some disk cleanup and cleared out the junk, but if this keeps up, I’ll be left with zero breathing room every time I try to tidy things up. I've tried various cleaning tools, nuked old update backups, cleared the history... honestly, I'm running out of tricks.
Anyone got any bright ideas? My partition is only 30GB because that was plenty for a Windows 7 install. Now, suddenly, it looks like it won't even hold its own weight because Windows is spreading across my drive like a virus.😕
I don't think you'll find that option in Vista or 7. I remember seeing a thread about Juiced 2 where people were asking for the exact same thing—trying to kill off that acceleration setting.
Look, if you actually opened those ports correctly, they won't show up as open unless you're actually running some data through them. Just download something to test it.
Same here, I went straight for Windows 7. As soon as I picked up my new rig, I said goodbye to everything older than version seven (though I did suffer through everything from Windows 98 all the way up to Windows 7, and honestly, Windows 7 was the clear winner).
Aim for a laptop with at least 3GB of RAM and a 2GHz processor. As for the OS, I think Linux will run the fastest, but honestly, I doubt your specific programs will even work on it. Just slap Windows 7 on there (cough, cough, no need to actually *buy* it, wink, wink) and you should be fine. You might also need a dedicated graphics card instead of just relying on Intel integrated graphics, but I'm not totally sure about that. Someone else can clear that up for you.
I don't know. I've dealt with my fair share of malware over the years, but I've never run into anything that actually required a full OS reinstall to get rid of. And Andrew Kern67, whatever you heard from someone who heard it from someone else doesn't really mean much. Even if there's some truth to it, I still have to point out that I haven't had any issues with viruses myself,
Benjamin King2, walk me through that logic. I switched over to Windows 7 x64 back in February and haven't picked up anything even remotely suspicious. Spybot and MBAM catch the occasional piece of junk here and there, but otherwise, my PC is spotless.
Don't bother with those literal translations. Once you get used to reading in English, you'll realize half the translated stuff just doesn't make any sense.
I forgot to mention I used to have three separate 2.1 setups, but I eventually ditched all of them for some Pioneer SE-M290 headphones. My room was such a mess of cables my parents thought I was running a small telephone exchange or something. As for doing what you're asking, it’s just not possible. The only way I hacked it together was by setting my sound settings to quadraphonic audio (my drivers basically tricked themselves into thinking I had four speakers; any other setting just wouldn't work for some reason). That left the green jack as green, but it essentially "turned" the black jack into a second green one. I plugged one 2.1 system into the first jack, then used a splitter on the second jack to turn it into two outputs for my other two 2.1 systems. There was no loss in volume or quality.
I wouldn't recommend it, though. Like it says, you're just running 3x2.1. A true 7.1 setup sounds way more immersive because the sound actually travels around the room like you're 😁 right in the middle of it, whereas this is just a way to get more volume and extra bass.
If you go with that Klipsch Reference Series, set it up properly and trust me—even a massive 5.1 setup won't even come close to matching it. 😁
Regarding HDMI, I haven't messed with that much, so you should probably ask someone smarter than me.
