wiredtiger8 said:I don't get it—how are you even paying William Ribic? Are you a professor or a teacher? Like, are you actually carving money out of your own paycheck just to cover his union dues?

Look, I pay my dues.
I pay my taxes.
I pay basically every single extortion fee this country can dream up, whether I'm acting as a private citizen or running a tiny micro-business.
All that cash goes straight into the federal budget.
And guess who gets paid out of that budget? The people you just mentioned.
And their salaries? That's what pays Ribic.
So, yeah, whether I want to admit it or not, I’m essentially footing the bill for him, both directly and indirectly.

Money doesn't just grow on trees to fund government bureaucrats and public servants, you know...
It’s honestly pathetic how far we've fallen.

I actually have to beg some trashy app—which, by the way, still doesn't even work—for PERMISSION just to go to work and earn enough money to afford the privilege of paying taxes so this bureaucrat can stroke his ego:

Pathetic.

George Orwell looks like a softie compared to this mess.
rustywalker42 said:And then you have certain individuals bringing the virus right along with them.

Yeah, I’m wondering the same thing. Personally, I’d have stayed put, just out of pure principle.

Especially when you consider how most of them were probably talking trash about America the whole time. Eh.

Yep.
And those of us who actually stayed here to live and work were mostly labeled as sellouts by them.
Now suddenly we're all good guys together, including our entire healthcare system??
wiredotter89 said:It isn't even weeks anymore; we're talking a matter of days now. 🤦 😵

Just ignore the troll.
They can't handle anyone having an opinion that isn't their own, so they just ramble on.
Plus, they get offended by anyone who doesn't bow down to His Majesty.
driftingstag84 said:Mr. Adam Collins4 is spinning his wheels and asking questions again. ☕
Here, read this:
https://www.usatoday.com/news/virus-stats-update-1390033

This isn't even his first rodeo.

On top of the constant, annoying nitpicking, he’s also famous for being arrogant and insulting anyone who doesn't see things his way.

That’s why a lot of people have him on ignore.

Actually, I know someone just like him in the real world.
He acts like he's the smartest guy in the room, won't let anyone else get a word in, and loves lecturing everyone on how they should be following these rules.
But if you actually dig a little deeper, he’s got like six people crammed into a ten-foot office at his firm.
See, when it comes down to his own bank account and his own money, suddenly all those other precautions don't seem to apply.
He's always looking out for number one.
stormybadger8 said:Pretty much. Except here, the rules arrive 2 or 3 days after the funeral because apparently, everyone was too busy to notice...
so in the meantime, we hold another 50 funerals before the restrictions actually kick in,
and then another 3 days pass because the police can't enforce it since they aren't sure which department has jurisdiction or which PP it falls under,
and then some relative of a local politician dies, so even the police can't check that one because, hey, everyone had to be at the funeral...

Basically, it's pure chaos and a constant cycle of being way too late to the party. Prevention? Never heard of her.

Some Mardi Gras circus in New Orleans...
Probably packed with people carrying the virus, but we already knew things were a mess over there.
If you look at the infection graphs, by now everyone in this entire country should have been infected at least twice.
So yeah, they're selling us fairy tales.
Why?
Who knows... we'll see what happens in the coming months...
Jose Scott3 said:Obviously. The whole public sector is basically just one big endless party meeting, right?

Regarding that other thing: self-isolation, week two. I wish it wasn't...

Regarding that other thing:

I’m out here grinding and risking getting sick just to pay my taxes and contributions so people like you can afford to be in "voluntary self-isolation."

Anyway, regarding the first point—just so I can show off that I know the fancy lingo even though I'm not some government hack:
Yeah, about 99% of the public sector is basically just a party meeting.
It's an open secret that you can't even land a job as a janitor at an elementary school unless you're a member of the ruling party.
So give it a rest.
placidnomad87 said:The real issue here is that local municipalities and city governments hand out passes to their own people without a second thought. If you don't have the right connections within the system, you're expected to be perfectly obedient, while everyone else seems to do whatever they want. Honestly, how can we ever implement a strict quarantine when our entire administrative system is such a complete mess? 😂

In a country where bribery and corruption have become the standard operating procedure, how could they possibly manage to organize even an extraordinary situation like this one?

As long as the politicians can just say, "I'm done asking," it doesn't matter—because those rules certainly don't apply to their relatives.

Exactly.
And once people actually start complaining or questioning things, some local idiot from the civil task force pops up and threatens them with lawsuits.
Just like our guy Avar over in Cleveland.

Besides, the authorities in Cleveland are already famous for suing anyone who disagrees with them, yet they don't feel a shred of shame taking tax dollars from the very people they're targeting.

But hey, what else can you expect from leaders headed by someone who’s dealing with an unappealed criminal conviction, spends his time trashing his own allies, and picks fights on Facebook?

Hopefully, voters will actually know how to hold them accountable at the next election.
Casey Flores said:Look, buddy, I genuinely believe you work in the public sector and aren't just some cushy bureaucrat—and I mean that sincerely, no sarcasm intended... The real issue is the people who actually do nothing, and honestly, they make up 80%, if not more, of the government workforce. But you’re part of the problem too, though I’ll get to why that is in a bit... You're wasting your breath, Zuce, venting to the wrong crowd. There's no point trying to justify yourselves on a forum like Reddit to the private sector folks who are currently looking to trim the fat... You should be taking this straight to all those deadwood employees in the public sector, starting with your own boss. But you won't do that, because deep down, you're just too much of a conformist...

Game, set, match.
And yeah, he's a sellout too, staying quiet while watching everything fall apart just so he can cling to his tiny little privileges and protect his comfortable, conformist ass.
I’d say it was pure malice.
placidfalcon said:Look, you’ve got that one privilege we don't really have in the big cities like NYC: you can actually grow your own food. Use the resources you've got. Complaining isn't going to change anything.

And who says I'm not growing food?
I grow stuff right here in the city too.
Just for the record, though, it's March, so it's not like the garden is exactly overflowing right now...
Jack Cook7 said:Sorry, but I gotta ask you to clarify one thing here.

Look, I'm funding you through my taxes, right? And you produce some research. But if absolutely nobody in America can actually use that work because there's no one here to turn it into something real—meaning some foreign company just swoops in, grabs the tech, and cashes in on it instead—then what's the deal?

What's the actual benefit to me for paying for it? What's the benefit to society as a whole?

Just let him be, he's clearly tripping.
I guess they gave him his talking points at the Democratic Party meeting this morning or something.

Btw, you notice he's posting during business hours?

🍿
Jack Cook7 said:So, members of the Democratic Party can just go wherever they want?

Man, what was I even saying two days ago?

I ended up getting into this whole debate with some self-important little town manager living in the area where my mother-in-law stays—which, by the way, is 3.1 miles nowhere near me.
They claim to be old-money types with half the town to their name, but thirty years ago, they were basically the poorest, laziest folks in the entire county.
Btw, I finally drove through with my work permit today.
From Cleveland to Columbus took exactly 7.5 miles, and I had to pass through three different jurisdictions.
Seriously, who designed this madness...
Jose Scott3 said:In a functional country, you’d be behind bars for saying something like that.
Lucky for everyone that you aren't a doctor or running for office.

I'd take him over Kalinica or Beros any day of the week.

The truth hurts, I get it.
In a sane society, people would actually weigh the benefits against the damage being done.
Bryan Taylor6 said:Right, because the absolute biggest crisis we're facing right now is overgrown weeds🙏

And why wouldn't that be an issue?
You really think those local cronies aren't just going to write off the fines?
Charles Carter4 said:Regarding the idea of a total lockdown...
At the end of the day, people's health is what matters most. If we can save even just one single life by shutting down the entire country—stopping businesses, putting everyone under a stay-at-home order, basically freezing everything in its tracks—then we've actually succeeded.🤦

Pure stupidity.
So you're basically saving some 94-year-old who was probably checking out in two days anyway, all while shaving years off the lives of hundreds of thousands of people? Really?
Larry Walker24 said:then honestly, they should just shut down his whole town.

I'm with you on that.
Same goes for plenty of others.
Doesn't really change the mess he's actually in right now, though.
Frank Flores63 said:If you happen to have a digital pen, maybe you could just do everything in Word and send it over without the whole mess of printing, photographing, and sending.

Oh yeah, sure, because telling a 75-year-old who has to drive to the next town over in 1.9 miles just to pick up their meds to start using a digital pen sounds like a totally realistic plan...
They’ll wake up to reality pretty damn soon.
But honestly, by then, it’ll be too late for them and us alike.

I mean, seriously, they basically stripped away our right to move around, work, and even just put food on the table.
Jose Scott3 said:Yeah, totally. I can't believe you can even say that after claiming you'd just pack up and head to the stock exchange once there's a surplus in the account. Not happening. Even if I were crazy, I wouldn't touch that...

If we're talking about why pay cuts probably won't actually happen—based on the budget situation over the last two years, those EU funds, and the fact that public debt is set to tick up again through some short-term borrowing—it looks likely. A bunch of economists and international financial groups are already backing this, promising decent loans with low interest rates...

Now, if we're talking theoretically? They won't cut pay because the government is terrified of losing the next election. It's a slimy way to look at it, and I'll never vote based on that logic, but it's the realistic explanation for why they won't touch people's salaries...

Of course.
I never doubted for a second that you think salary money grows on trees.
Happy harvesting.
Just know I won't be contributing much to your paycheck down the road.
And there are plenty of us like that.

Btw, you've got the North and their crowd up there, so let them handle the payroll.

Casey Flores said:Any young guy who’s absolutely desperate to land a job in the government or some public service role is just a complete fraud... honestly, that whole "everyone wants a government job" mindset says way too much about them. You can try to lie to yourselves, but please, don't try it with us. ☕ This time around, you guys are really going to be picking up the pieces left behind on the floor, unlike back in 2008...

You're not wrong.
