Asthma Management in Health ·
Hi there.

I’m entering my third year on treatment for allergic asthma. I had testing done two years ago, which confirmed allergies to low grasses. For the first two years, everything was perfectly under control.

But this year, a nasty cough and chest pain hit me out of nowhere. It lasted about ten days—constant coughing fits, especially brutal ones at night, wheezing, and lung pain. I was prescribed an antibiotic, which cleared up the initial infection, but those nighttime coughing fits haven't left. They've evolved into what I suspect are actual asthma attacks (which I’ve never experienced before).

Basically, I wake up with my airways spasming. I can't breathe. I try to force air through, but nothing happens. During the struggle, I end up swallowing air, barely manage to get my Ventolin in, and then need several minutes just to stabilize.

I have an appointment scheduled with my Pulmonologist, but it isn't for another ten days. Honestly, I'm starting to get worried because last night's attack was severe; for a second there, I genuinely thought I was going to suffocate.

What do you all do when things get like this? Should I wait for my doctor's appointment, or should I be doing something else?

Carrot and Tahini Spread

Ingredient ratios are up to you. I tweak this one to my liking—personally, I prefer more tahini flavor, and keeping the calories down isn't a bad trade-off for the taste. If you want to cut the fat even further, swap the oil for some creamy Neufchatel cheese.

Ingredients:

10.5 oz carrots
A few garlic cloves
1 oz tahini
0.7 oz olive oil
Salt and pepper
Cumin and parsley

Prep the carrots, coat them lightly in olive oil, and toss them in the oven with the garlic at 400°F. If the edges start charring too fast, just throw some foil over them.
Once they're done, let them cool down slightly. Throw everything into a blender or hit it with an immersion blender and voilà!
I usually eat this with pita bread or homemade crackers. It’s also great mixed with Mamma's ajvar.😍

I recently stumbled upon this yogurt recipe and have made it a few times now. It’s genuinely great—refreshing, and if you sweeten it with some honey, it’s perfect. 😍

I found several versions online, but my first attempt followed this one: http://jubistacha.blogspot.com/2011/...klincicem.html. Since then, I've been playing around with the spices.

Vanilla Spiced Yogurt

1 tsp turmeric
1 vanilla bean (extract works too)
3 cardamom pods (or cloves; skip the spices entirely if that's your thing)
¾ cup water
1 quart fresh milk
2 tbsp yogurt
honey to taste

Split the vanilla bean lengthwise and scrape out the seeds. Toss the seeds, the pod, the turmeric, and the other spices into a saucepan with the water. Boil over high heat until it reduces to a thick syrup (about 15 minutes). Stir frequently toward the end so it doesn't burn.
Pour that syrup into the fresh milk. Mix it well and bring to a boil.
Take it off the heat and strain it to get rid of the spice bits. Let it cool down slightly. You're looking for about 115°F to 125°F. If you don't own a thermometer, just use the finger test: when you can hold your finger in the milk for 30 seconds without it burning you, you've hit the mark. Stir in the two tablespoons of yogurt, pour the mixture into a clean glass jar, and leave it somewhere warm for 8–10 hours.
If you want a thicker consistency, carefully drain off the excess whey. Stir in the honey. This is best served sweetened.

I tried it with cloves once, but the cardamom version is much better. You could also throw in ginger or anise—whatever. Give it a shot and let me know. 😁

As for calories, I just count it like standard yogurt (plus whatever honey I end up adding).

Wage garnishments and collections in Law ·
I know everyone here has much bigger headaches than mine, but if anyone could spare a minute to weigh in on this, I’d appreciate it.
Basically, I’ve never actually needed a lawyer before, and I definitely don't have money to throw away on legal fees, so I'm looking for some advice...
A garnishment was placed on my bank account. While reviewing the paperwork, I realized I had legitimate grounds to contest the seizure, so I filed an appeal. The court actually ruled in my favor. But even though the court decision came through during the enforcement period (within that 30-day window), the funds were still permanently seized.
Now I need to get my money back. The folks at the bank told me they could release the funds either voluntarily or through a counter-garnishment process. I tried reaching out to the creditors directly, but they’re acting like the case is already closed on their end. I'm attempting to track down their clients, but that’s proving to be a massive headache...
It’s starting to look like I might have to hire an attorney...
Does anyone know how that process actually works? And what kind of costs am I looking at?

Can anyone recommend a good spot for a kidney ultrasound?

So far, I've found three options online: Kvarantan Clinic, Dr. Tarle’s office (they do color Doppler), and Sunce Clinic.

Has anyone here actually used any of these places?

Thanks in advance!

If you want to feel empowered, the most important thing is having a career and a steady income.
When you have money, you don't need anyone. You gain the freedom to cut off whoever you want—especially those people who offer you nothing but negative vibes and a toxic atmosphere. Sure, if you ever end up needing a kidney or bone marrow transplant, it might be slightly inconvenient, but even that's solvable if you've got the cash.

😍😍Where were you ten years ago when I actually needed to hear this?

Regarding the issues you mentioned, I won't play therapist since that's not my field, but I can share what worked for me. I grew up in a household where showing any kind of emotion or vulnerability was strictly off-limits. It took me forever to emotionally detach and break those old patterns; it definitely wasn't an overnight fix. For a long time, I couldn't handle any kind of relationship, and honestly, I still struggle to maintain close friendships today. Being in a relationship helped quite a bit, though. My partner helped me see my family through a different lens and helped me stop holding so many grudges. It's still a work in progress.

I’m planning on becoming a nunchaku master, but I’m stuck since I don't actually own any yet. Does anyone know where I can pick up a decent pair without getting ripped off? Thanks in advance.
