bluebison47 said:So, how long does it actually take to go from a total hair disaster to looking somewhat decent again? Maybe... two months?
It took me six months... When it starts growing back, it looks all patchy and weird. It needs time to actually grow out properly.
Stick with flip-flops for the first 4 or 5 days since you'll be doing a lot of walking to get to the spot. After that, you can switch to something wider... basically, once you peel off that thick bandage after a few days and you're just down to a thinner wrap, just try whatever fits comfortably.

I have become so incredibly blunt lately, it’s actually kind of wild... 😲 though, if I’m being honest, before I was pregnant, I used to just let people boss me around or be rude because I couldn't even be bothered to argue with idiots, you know? But now? Man, I am just shutting people down left and right whenever they deserve it. 🙄
And honestly, I love it. I finally have the guts to tell people exactly what's on my mind. 😉

I’m curious, though: how long does it actually take for a nail to fully regrow? Basically, when can I realistically get back to hitting the gym after the procedure?
It'll probably take about two months to fully grow back. But once you see some progress at the base—usually after two or three weeks—you should be fine to get back into your sneakers and hit the gym...
good luck, 😉
Michael Jones23 said:Does it seriously have to be a guy and a private practice? ... Because I know a great female OB-GYN at the local community clinic, Dr. Leko... don't get mad, she shares an office with Dr. Glavas, and I practically ran away from her! Not exactly the friendliest person.
The only thing I hate about Leko is that she doesn't do physical exams.🙂
Doesn't have to be a man, but it definitely needs to be private...🙂
I checked the white pages, but there isn't a single private OB-GYN listed in Osijek.😕
Thanks anyway.👋
Does anyone know a private gynecologist in St. Louis? Needs to be someone actually pleasant, obviously!
😁 👋
So, I started this thread and then totally ghosted everyone without posting the results... figured since it was Christmas, we shouldn't be obsessing over surgeons... there are better things to talk about, right?
Basically, I endured, suffered, and almost lost my mind... surgery was the only way out...
Back on December 12th last year, I went to see the surgeon. He seemed like a perfectly pleasant guy, all things considered... 👍
He gave me the once-over and said, "Just relax, we'll get this done." He gave me two injections, and I sat there praying I wouldn't feel a thing, just like everyone else claimed... but of course, damn it... 😲 I felt everything. Thank God it only lasted a few moments, but man, there was blood everywhere. You know that sensation when you can actually feel the blood flowing? It was intense. They wrapped me up nicely, but I ended up waddling around like a penguin... 😁
Anyway, despite what people say about how the removal won't hurt but the recovery will—for me, nothing. I popped two Ibuprofens before heading to bed just in case the pain hit during the night, but honestly, I didn't feel a thing afterward... nor did I bleed through... (I guess everything drained during the procedure 😁).
So, I'm still alive, and my nail is slowly growing back. I can see it starting to peek through somewhere... yeah, that's the stuff... 😁
Just stay brave and don't overthink it... 👍
👋
p.s. I'm a little suspicious of the nail on my other foot... clearly those sneakers did their job well enough... 😢
Drew Mitchell55 says:>
Gross.
And the worst part? I’m starting to deal with this on my big toe too. It’s turning red next to the nail, it hurts, and there’s this light bleeding (it used to be pus, but now it’s just blood)...
If you're bleeding, there's probably pus in there too... it all happens at once. Honestly, if it's bleeding instead of oozing pus, that's even worse... it means it's deep enough that you could end up with a blood infection...
I can't tell if it's an ingrown nail or what. I always try not to cut it too short so the edges don't dig in, but now I'm wondering—can the nail actually grow back crooked on the side of the toe where it hits the flesh?
Yeah, I've got the exact same issue. The real kicker is that the actual nail plate is way wider than what we can actually see and trim ourselves. Since we can't reach those hidden parts, they just keep growing deeper and causing problems... plus, wearing shoes that squeeze your toes doesn't help matters one bit.

My bad...
Totally forgot to say thanks for sharing all your stories... 🙂
So, THANKS... 🙏
👋
So, looks like you guys have been through this before...
I was honestly starting to think I was the only one dealing with this mess..😁
I haven't made a call yet... I'm trying to tough it out for a bit longer, but who knows how much more I can take. Looking at it, it feels like the ingrown nail goes way deeper than I thought... if it just grows out, maybe I'll be fine... but I'm stressing out here...😢
I don't know.. I talked to a few people who know their stuff about this, and they said they give you anesthesia first, then use some kind of probe to lift the nail and wrap it up like an Eva sardine tin.😕
It’s not the procedure I’m scared of, it’s whether it’s permanent... though the person I spoke to mentioned it doesn't have to be a forever thing—you can actually go back. My grandmother had this done a few times herself.😢
As for my footwear... yeah, I'm changing my style. I have enough shoes to rival Imelda Marcos, but since it was summer, I was mostly in sandals with my toes looking perfect and all that... so I guess even they didn't see it coming.
For now, I'm just suffering in silence...
Later...
👋
You guys move fast... I just got back from downtown and the replies are already waiting...🙂
I went to my nail tech, but honestly, she didn't do anything spectacular. When I told her it was hurting, she just clipped the edges of my nails down—which obviously stops the pain once they're shorter... Look, I'm not saying I grow out long nails, but if you have to hack half of them off just to stop the pain, I feel like you haven't actually fixed the problem. Of course, as soon as they started growing back, the pain came right back... I get the feeling we're all just following one after another, and when she sees you're younger, she'd rather just send you home... Like, "don't you dare mess with me..."😕
There's zero chance I'm going to the other place because I KNOW several people ended up with infections there and had to get their nails professionally cleaned out...
😲 😕
I don't see much point in "feeding" these places with my hard-earned money if everything ends up the same way... It’s obvious they just aren't high quality...
Then again, I'm the type who says, "if it needs to come out, let's just pull it," and deal with it... It hurts, but then I can go back to being a ballerina...😁 ..just kidding...
Anyway, thanks everyone...🙏
Hoping for better luck next time...👋
Hey everyone...😁
Calling this "nail ripping" felt a little aggressive, but that's basically what we're talking about... I've got ingrown toenails on both big toes. Everything was fine during the summer, but now that I've switched to closed-toe shoes, it hurts like hell—one foot is even starting to get infected. I kept telling myself it would just grow out and I'd fix my trimming technique later, but nope, nothing works. I went shopping for winter boots the other day and there wasn't a single pair I could actually wear without the nails digging into the skin and causing total agony. So, if anyone here has dealt with nail removal, please let me know... how bad is the pain, how long does recovery take, how long until they grow back, etc...
Thanks, thanks, thanks...🙏 🙏
