Accounting for Sole Proprietors: Tax & Bookkeeping Tips in Business, Accounting & Taxes ·
If my sole proprietorship was forced into the VAT system by law last year—meaning I submitted the required forms and had all my paperwork perfectly in order—shouldn't I have received a final tax assessment or a statement regarding last year's total tax amount by now? Or is this something where the business owner is expected to just crunch the numbers themselves and send the payment over manually?

I mean, I am seeing those quarterly prepayments for the current year arriving quite regularly...

Emily Myers8 said:The SD is specifically for sole proprietors under certain tax rules, which isn't your situation anymore since you hit that limit.
Income tax reporting is annual, even if your operating period was shorter.
You'll need to submit the CDC form covering all income received in 2022, from 01/01/2022 to 12/31/2022.
You include your salary, pension, business income, and any other side income.

I appreciate the input, but I don't think that's quite right...
My business was technically a sole proprietorship until August 31st, so there's no doubt the SD applies to that specific timeframe.

Hey everyone...

I’ve been handling my own bookkeeping for my small business, and now I need to file my annual forms, specifically the SD and the CDC (per the instructions from the agent when I registered for sales tax).

I have two questions here, just in case anyone else finds themselves in this exact same spot:

1.
Back in August, my revenue crossed the $300,000 threshold, so I was told my sales tax registration would kick in on September 1st. As of August 31st, my total receipts were sitting at roughly $350,000.
The agent also mentioned that I need to submit the SD covering the period from January 1st through August 31st.
However, every time I try to file the SD through the IRS portal, I get an error message the second the total amount exceeds $300,000.

What am I supposed to do?

2.
I took a look at the CDC form as well...
Do I really have to fill out EVERYTHING on there? (Keep in mind my business isn't my only source of income—I still have a regular W-2 job elsewhere, etc.) Or am I only responsible for the section pertaining to the business itself? (Looking at the whole thing, it feels like a ridiculous mountain of numbers and data points to track down)

Anyway... if anyone has any insight, thanks a ton in advance! 🙂
Why was I banned from the "War in Ukraine" thread? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I suppose I’d be veering completely off track if I started rambling about football or anything of the sort...

Well, yes, it drifted slightly off-topic, but then we have the exact same culprits—including five or six other users who quoted me just to keep that same line of thought going (referencing that "pro-Ukraine brigade" you mentioned earlier).

My actual question remains unchanged: why does this subforum function like such an echo chamber, and why am I being branded as a troll?

I just skimmed through the other thread titles here, and it seems I'm certainly not the only one asking this... it's quite sad, really.
Why was I banned from the "War in Ukraine" thread? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Hello,

About a week ago, I was banned from the "War in Ukraine" subforum, and for some reason, I can't seem to start a thread in the "Banned Users Corner," so I’m putting my question here instead.

In the "War in Ukraine" section, the reason given for the ban was something along the lines of "trolling regarding Ukraine."

My question is this: what exactly was the reason for my ban?

I don't believe I insulted anyone or acted provocatively; if anything, my posts were substantive and detailed, providing answers to a whole host of related questions.

The moderator wiped all my content, and as far as I can tell, I'm the only one who received a ban from that specific subforum.

Meanwhile, people posting things like:
"Putin just woke up on the wrong side of the bed and decided to invade"
or anyone else who holds a differing opinion and gets labeled a mercenary or a Russian sympathizer—even those criticizing the U.S. President—are still allowed on the forum without any bans or sanctions whatsoever.

The moderator's bias toward one side of the argument is blatant, but I am still shocked by the level of enforcement used just to ensure only one side of the story survives, especially when a recent poll showed that 58% of Americans oppose training Ukrainians in the States.

If there was one specific post that triggered my ban, I would kindly ask that it be posted here along with a brief explanation.

Thank you.
Sanctions on Russia in War in Ukraine ·
gentlerider7 said:Or maybe they're just some naive sucker swallowing every single thing Putin feeds them.

Considering that Russians and their media have been essentially scrubbed from the internet and TV 99% of the time, even if I actually wanted to swallow what Putin is serving—how am I supposed to find it?

Are you suggesting the only thing left to swallow is the stuff Putin served originally, which our own media then repackaged and reinterpreted for us?
Sanctions on Russia in War in Ukraine ·
I have to admit, I’m right there with hollowwalker24 on this one... the sheer amount of name-calling in this "discussion" is just insane. If someone dares to suggest that sanctions might cause some economic headaches in the European Union, or even just expresses a bit of skepticism about them, they’re immediately branded a Russian asset, a mercenary, a Kremlin puppet, or some other variation of a traitor. It’s constant.

But honestly, I can't really blame anyone for doing it—it's actually a pretty effective strategy. It's the exact same playbook the Republican Party used when they convinced their base that Milanović was basically taking orders from Mexico City and whatnot.

It’s either "Glory to Ukraine" or you're a Russian sympathizer; apparently, there's no middle ground left for people who actually want to think for themselves.
Full upper extraction and 6-unit bridge in Dentistry & Oral Hygiene ·
First off—thanks for the input 🙂

The bone density isn't great because of an old surgery and some issues with how one of the teeth grew in (we actually had to pull it out, first surgically and then via orthodontics).
Plus, the teeth being prepped for the bridge have been wearing veneers for years now, so I don't really see it as a loss to grind them down.

Anyway, if you happen to know, I’d really appreciate an answer to my original question—what exactly is the long-term downside to getting a bridge and having both units extracted?
Is there any risk of jawbone weakening or anything along those lines?
Full upper extraction and 6-unit bridge in Dentistry & Oral Hygiene ·
So, I was recently advised—as the title suggests—to have both my front two teeth extracted along with a six-unit bridge (32 xx 23) on my upper jaw.

The word from the dentist is that my bone density just isn't there, making implants a non-starter. Honestly, I’m not entirely surprised; I’ve been dealing with a continuous dental and orthodontic saga involving these two specific teeth since I was a kid.

Now, because I have this habit of wanting to be fully informed before undergoing major procedures, I have a question:

In the long run, is this actually a POOR option? Specifically, what am I looking at in terms of bone loss, tooth shifting, or other complications 10, 15, or even 20 years down the line?

Has anyone else here dealt with a similar situation where those two front teeth were replaced by being part of a bridge rather than individual units?

For context, I’m 34 years old.

Thanks in advance for any insight. 🙂

Thanks for the link, but... can you give me the SparkNotes version? I'm wondering if I can just buy this through my LLC and list it as "office equipment" or some kind of inventory? This whole thing on the IRS site is a total mess... honestly, do you know anyone who actually handles this or books stuff like this for clients?

Is anyone actually doing this?

I’m trying to wrap my head around how this works—is it treated just like any other business purchase, say, stocking up inventory for a warehouse?
How does the bookkeeping look?
And what about the legal side of things?

If anyone has some insight... I’d be incredibly grateful if you could walk me through the specifics.🙂
