Austin Sanders36 said:fadedsurfer58, I went through the exact same thing about six years ago! When I found out I was pregnant at 18, the first question everyone asked was, "So, when are you getting married?" When I told them I didn't know, they were like, "What do you mean? You're having a baby, you can't just not be married!" It drove me absolutely insane! But hey, fast forward five years, I ended up marrying that same guy, and now we're actually expecting our second kid together!
That is just too sweet 😍 😍
Honestly, I wouldn't say a word if I weren't already in a long-term relationship with my boyfriend—we've been living together for ages, and my family has seen him a billion times by now—plus, I’m currently carrying three different types of medication in my system. 🤣
It’s also pretty amusing when I head into work to drop off my paperwork; these random acquaintances or casual coworkers will walk up with this look of profound concern, pat me on the shoulder, and "politely" ask, "So, are you dealing with morning sickness?" And all I can do is try not to burst into laughter right there. Usually, I just tell them I don't have any, unless I've had a few too many drinks 😬 I say with a completely deadpan expression, so they can never tell if I'm joking or if I'm actually being serious 🤣
Uuuuu, my absolute favorite little moment lately is when some random ladies from the neighborhood try to strike up a conversation about my pregnancy, only to gasp in pure, bewildered joy: "Oh my gosh, I had no idea you were married!"
I just give them a little laugh and calmly reply that I never actually said anything about being married.
They look completely thrown off—just standing there gesturing wildly at my stomach.
But hey, don't you guys know how babies are made? You don't exactly need a marriage license for that. 🤣
Honestly, watching those blank, stunned expressions on their faces is such a thrill. 😬
I’m just quoting myself from another thread—maybe things will be a bit more visible over here. 😢

It’s funny how life works—you spend all this time convinced that bad luck is something reserved for everyone else, only to have reality step up and deliver a massive, unceremonious slap right to your face.
My husband's mother was rushed to the Mayo Clinic last week—it was pretty intense. She started dealing with these brutal headaches, sudden bouts of disorientation, and she just couldn't hold onto short-term memories anymore. After they ran the initial tests and a CT scan, they diagnosed her with a brain tumor. To make matters even more complicated, there was some massive medical convention happening at the same time, plus a holiday weekend, so everything was backed up. We ended up stuck waiting five whole days just to get the MRI results back.
The neurologist on call—Associate Professor Basich Kes—was actually incredibly kind to us while we were waiting on the MRI results. She sat down with us, went over the CT scans, and really took the time to talk things through. She encouraged us to stay optimistic, pointing out that there’s no sign of edema around the tumor, and it doesn't look like it has drifted deep into the brain—it seems to be positioned more toward the frontal lobe. Honestly, she mentioned she’s seen much, much worse cases than this, though of course, we won't have the full picture until the MRI results come back.
We were all basically patting each other on the back, clinging to this shared sense of optimism—trying to stay positive, you know?—only to be hit by a total state of shock once those MRI results finally came in. Even the neurosurgeon was staring at us, genuinely baffled as to how we hadn't noticed anything sooner.
My husband's mother is honestly such a vibrant, bubbly, and energetic woman—the kind of real firecracker who’s always on the move. She’s a scientist with a high-stress career, yet she almost never complained about headaches, and even when she did, they were nothing more than minor, seemingly benign nuisances. Her vision was perfect, her mood was incredibly stable, and she didn't deal with any memory lapses... there was absolutely nothing to suggest that anything at all was actually going on inside her system.
The tumor is substantial—it’s actually spreading across both hemispheres of the brain—and because it's positioned so centrally, there's a strong suspicion that we're looking at a glioblastoma. We won't have any real certainty, though, until we get the results back from the biopsy this coming Tuesday.
It’s funny how that works—when it’s someone you care about who ends up in this kind of situation, suddenly you feel like you have to mobilize the entire world just to make sense of it. You start calling everyone you know, scouring your contact list for friends or anyone with a single connection to a hospital system. It’s that desperate attempt to find an edge, really. Because honestly, there’s nothing quite as paralyzing as that sheer sense of helplessness.
And it feels like we’re stuck—completely and utterly hamstrung in this whole situation.
I’m reaching out to all of you because I could really use some advice.
I’d love to get some more input here—specifically, does anyone have a solid recommendation for a good neurosurgeon? I was at the Mayo Clinic recently, and they told me that Dr. Paladino isn't taking patients anymore and that getting an appointment with him is basically impossible now. (Honestly, what?? That’s news to me. Even though I’m not exactly a medical professional, I still make an effort to keep track of the big names in the field, and from everything I’ve heard, he’s still very much active.)
I’ve got an appointment this Monday with my neurologist, Dr. Demarin—to finally get her take on everything and see if she has any specific neurosurgeons she’d recommend. Though, honestly, it feels like everyone else in the medical field is already singing from the same songbook when it comes to the prognosis.
I’m also considering heading over to the Cleveland Clinic to go over my test results. I honestly don't know what I'm hoping to achieve by going—it feels a bit like sitting there just waiting to surrender to the inevitable. I've been reading up on some experimental procedures involving injecting radioactive iodine directly into the center of a tumor, but I'm at a total loss as to where or from whom I can actually get more concrete information on that.
I honestly don't know what to do anymore—we are completely lost. My wife has been at the Mayo Clinic for a week now, and she’s actually cheerful and in great spirits. She has no idea what's happening to her, nor does she realize how long she’s actually been hospitalized... which, as terrible as it sounds, is a blessing in disguise. Even though her short-term memory is shot—she’ll forget we were just out for a walk thirty minutes ago, for instance—she’s still *her*. That same bubbly, energetic spirit she's always had.
They’ve got her on Mannitol and Versed—one to help draw the fluid out of the cells and the other just to keep her asleep. As for headaches... she isn't complaining about those.
Sorry for the long-winded post, but I think you all get where I’m coming from. It’s gut-wrenching to feel like there’s absolutely nothing left to be done—it just sits heavy in my chest. I keep spiraling, wondering what the most humane path actually looks like for her. Is it better to just bring her home, stay by her side, and essentially sit there helplessly waiting for the end?
Or do we opt for the radiation route and potentially drag out the suffering... for how long... maybe two or three months? 😢
I’m just not ready to throw in the towel, and I refuse to just sit on my hands waiting for nature to take its course. I want to try everything—experimental drugs, clinical trials, whatever else is out there... we just have to know for ourselves. 😢
Thanks. If anyone has any advice or perspective, I’m all ears. Wishing everyone the best of luck in your own battles. 🙂
Sam Hall15 said:There is no need to cut eggs out of your diet just yet; even if your total cholesterol looks high, your HDL and LDL levels are excellent. I would suggest repeating the blood work after fasting for three days and avoiding fatty foods, then testing first thing in the morning. Please let me know what the new results show... If you had something heavy or greasy that day, or even the day before, the readings might be falsely elevated.
Wow, you’re a lifesaver, Doc! 😍
Thanks for getting back to me so fast—it’s a huge relief to know I’m not walking around on borrowed time. 😬
I’ll definitely get the tests redone once I muster up enough courage to face that many needles again. Honestly, after seeing how much blood they took the first time, I accidentally ended up finishing half a glass of wine that evening just to take the edge off... 🙈
Thanks!

For me, it’s definitely the birth control (I've been on Yasmin for three years, and I just cracked open a box of the newer generation Yasmin)... everything else in my labs looks flawless, except for that stupid
cholesterol at 6.0...
HDL 2.4,,
LDL 3.05...
triglycerides 1.20
it's a mess 😠
I stay active, I eat healthy—the stuff people here call "junk" is basically my daily diet... so I honestly don't know where to start or what to fix...🤷
Maybe the only thing is cutting out eggs, since I eat them about 2 or 3 times a week for the protein (you know, sports, muscle building, blah blah)
And stress... well... I wouldn't say I'm a high-strung person 😬, but I am prone to campaign work—so you know how it goes when deadlines hit and you end up pulling an all-nighter. Even if I don't personally feel stressed, I assume the body still registers it as such. Then again, now that college is over, those kinds of nights are pretty much non-existent...
Please help with any advice, and my sincere apologies if reviving old threads irritates anyone. 😁
Megan Jones61 said:I know I’m supposed to drop a recipe in here, and I’ve been staring at my screen for half an hour trying to think of something, but honestly, my brain is just empty. Creativity is nowhere to be found today. 🙂
I went to try out some of your recipes, and let me tell you—nothing turned out remotely the way it was supposed to. 😂😢
That chicken with yogurt—how on earth do you get a crust?
I did everything by the book, spread it all on, and then the yogurt just... split all over the pan (I don't have a grill, so I used a skillet), and nothing actually stuck to the meat. A crust? What crust?!
Where did I go wrong? 😁
And I tried that chicken and egg dish too, and it was the exact same story. It looked like I had just cooked a piece of chicken and a separate egg side-by-side. At least the egg didn't turn into a disaster, but it wasn't even touching the chicken. 😠
So, yeah... that's where I am.
Oh, man... 😕 ...I did use Greek yogurt, but I think the main issue was how you handled it in the pan. You aren't necessarily going to get a "crust" per se, but it should thicken up somehow... even if you just sautéed everything together, it shouldn't have been a mess. 🤷 It should have turned into something more like a sauce... and her 😢
Lebanese-style Yogurt Chicken 😍
Another quick, budget-friendly recipe 🙂 because I whipped this up today and it was honestly a total knockout.
What you’ll need:
Chicken breast fillets
Salt
A small bowl of Greek yogurt
2 teaspoons of freshly ground black pepper
4-5 cloves of garlic, minced or crushed
A pinch of paprika
A pinch of seasoning salt
A pinch of cayenne pepper
Mix all those spices together in a small bowl and let them sit for a few minutes—just enough time for the garlic to really infuse the mixture. While you're waiting, prep your chicken and give it a little salt.
Throw the fillets onto an electric grill if you have one handy (though a cast-iron grill pan works just fine...) and coat them thoroughly with that yogurt and spice blend.
Don't bother flipping them until that yogurt creates a nice, light crust.
Flip them over, smear the other side with the remaining mixture—since it's facing up now—let that sear into a crust, and you're done. Seriously delicious. 🙂
More variations on my vegan cheese spread 😬
One massive red bell pepper
A literal mountain of garlic cloves
Vegan 😍
Salt, plus whatever pepper you're feeling...
So, here’s the drill: I roast the pepper on foil—let's say over a backyard grill?—just enough to get that perfect smoky aroma and those charred bits
Then I peel off the skin and dice it all up
Mince as much garlic as my heart desires
Mix everything together with the vegan cheese, hit it with some salt, maybe a little black pepper if I'm feeling fancy... it's honestly delicious!
And there you have it 🙂
Turkey Meatballs with Pistachios on the Grill Pan
I usually just toss these onto the grill—or a cast-iron grill pan if I'm feeling lazy—to skip the whole deep-frying mess. They turn out incredibly crispy and honestly, they're delicious.
Here’s what you’ll need:
A package of ground turkey breast
1 egg (just to bind everything together)
Salt and pepper
Breadcrumbs or a slice of bread soaked in milk
Pistachios (cashews work too, though personally, I think pistachios hit the spot better)
Millet...
Mix the meat with the egg and the bread, season it however you like, and then fold in some roughly crushed pistachios—don't overdo it, or you'll lose the texture entirely.
Shape them into even little balls and roll them in millet (you could use flour or breadcrumbs, but the millet gives it a bit of a Mediterranean vibe)😬
Then, throw them on the grill pan.
I typically eat these on their own and just count them as my protein fix for the meal.🙂
If you want to get fancy, they go great with some chickpeas, or maybe a yogurt dressing mixed with Herbes de Provence (you can find those herbs at Walmart $1.75) plus a few drops of balsamic vinegar...
But hey, you can figure out your own combo.
🙂 😍
Quietpilot87—kudos for putting this thread together! I feel like there was actually something similar posted in this PDF a while back—it just hasn't been active for quite some time. I think it went by something like "Fresh & Tasty"—if I recall correctly, siki6 was the one who originally started that thread. There are some genuinely solid recipes tucked away in there... maybe it's worth looking into merging them? 🤷
Alright, I figured it was about time I tossed a recipe into the ring myself. 🙂
Tuna pâté.
Rio Mare tuna in olive oil—where the oil actually comes from the fish itself.
So, I finally got around to picking up some of that vegan cheese from Tillamook—you know, the dairy-free stuff they have stocked at the local Kroger. Honestly, it’s an interesting experiment, if you can call it that. It’s one of those items you grab when you're trying to be a bit more mindful about what's in your diet or just navigating a fast during certain times of the year, though "cheese" might be a generous term for it. It’s definitely... different. If you go in expecting that sharp, creamy hit you get from a real block of cheddar, you're going to be disappointed. It has this specific texture—a bit more structured, maybe a little more stubborn when it meets heat—that makes you realize how much we rely on actual animal fats for that melt factor. It’s fine for a sandwich or throwing onto some toast if you aren't looking for a culinary revelation, but let's not pretend it's a direct replacement for the good stuff. It does its job, but it doesn't exactly sing.
Just a little mustard.
Freshly cracked peppercorns—whether you're going with the colorful medley or sticking to the classic red—make all the difference.
Everything just gets tossed together and honestly... I’m all about it. This kind of spread is my go-to—it works perfectly as a high-protein meal when you need to fuel up. You can easily bulk it out, too—throw in some corn, maybe some eggs, or a handful of olives if you're feeling fancy.
I’m not adding a single thing—honestly, this just works for me exactly as it is.
It’s really just a tweak on a recipe I stumbled upon here—I simply swapped out the full-fat cream cheese for the low-fat version. 😬
The PWM "desert"—that vast, empty stretch where nothing seems to grow and everything feels a bit bleached out—is a fascinating concept when you look at how it functions within the broader ecosystem. It isn't just a void; it’s more like that weird, stagnant period in a corporate restructuring where all the old processes have been scrapped, but the new ones haven't actually taken root yet. You're just standing there in the middle of a dry wasteland, waiting for some kind of momentum to kick in. It’s easy to mistake this phase for total failure, but I’ve always viewed it more as a necessary, albeit incredibly tedious, clearing of the slate. Think of it like those periods of extreme drought in the Midwest—it looks desolate, sure, but it’s essentially a reset that forces the landscape to adapt before the next big season hits. In the context of PWM, you're navigating through a space where the usual signals are muted, and you have to rely on a much more deliberate, measured approach to find any semblance of direction. It requires a certain level of patience—the kind of patience you need when you're stuck in a massive traffic jam on the I-95 and realize you aren't moving anytime soon. You just have to sit with the emptiness and wait for the environment to shift.
About two large tablespoons of non-dairy spread.
Just one single banana. One. No bunch, no snack pack, just a solitary piece of fruit sitting there on the counter. It’s almost poetic in its loneliness—like a solo act at a jazz club where nobody showed up to listen. You look at it and you have to decide: is this enough to get me through a mid-morning slump, or am I just setting myself up for a disappointment that lingers until lunch? It’s a tiny, yellow gamble.
A little bit of water.
Just toss everything into a blender, let it chill for a bit, and then you can just sit back, grab a spoon, and enjoy—it’s basically pure bliss.
Just when you thought you couldn't handle any more sugar—here comes another overly sweet dessert.
I think I swiped this from somewhere else—honestly, I can't quite remember where. 🙈
So, it really comes down to a choice between a Granny Smith or a green pear—one that actually has some sweetness to it.
Vegan cheese—or what some might call "fasting cheese"—is a bit of a tricky subject, isn't it? It’s one of those things where you either find a version that actually tastes like food or you end up with something that feels more like industrial glue than anything you'd want to put on a bagel.
pepper
Dice up some fruit, toss it together with some low-fat yogurt, hit it with a little black pepper, and—voilà—you've got a snack worth eating. 🙂
That smell of chicken... it's just not right.
It’s honestly almost too easy—but damn, it actually tastes incredible. I’m the type of person who loves playing around with different spice blends, and the best part about this recipe is that it basically serves as a blank canvas for whatever seasoning combo you're feeling.
Most of the time, you really just need the meat—specifically that lean white meat, or honestly, just grab a whole chicken.
Give it a good scrub and hit it with some salt.
And then comes the inevitable onslaught of random seasonings—you know the drill—throwing in rosemary, bay leaves, thyme, a slice of lemon, cracked pepper... just everything but the kitchen sink.
Just wrap the whole thing up in aluminum foil and toss it straight into the oven.
Watch your step when you're pulling cash out—you wouldn't want to end up with an empty pocket because you weren't paying attention.
You can also stuff the chicken with all sorts of different vegetables—it’s a great way to pack in some extra nutrition while giving you something to snack on as a side dish.
So... that's all I've got for now. 😬

I can hit 10—those narrow ones where you keep your arms tight against your sides.
Me too, I can do 10 🙈
And those "feminine" ones on my knees? I can manage plenty of those, though I've never actually counted... I tend to keep my arms wide during those.
As for doing them on my hands, I haven't even attempted that.
Oh, and when I'm using a Pilates ball and my legs are out, I can probably push my arms out to about 20 inches or so.
Good morning... yeah, here goes nothing...
I’m pretty aware of my own weak spots. I didn't include a shot of my midsection because I haven't quite tackled that area yet 😬
As for my legs... well, I definitely need to lean out a bit—mostly around the calves—but everything feels pretty firm, which I actually like. I also want to smooth out the transition from my glutes to my thighs a little more.
Ignore the bruising on my hips; I’ve had a few nasty wipeouts on my bike over the last few days 🙈
Regarding my arms... I really need to tone up the triceps so that "bat wing" area doesn't hang quite so much.
Ugh, I feel so awkward doing this. I’ve censored everything—the room, the dog, even myself 😬 🙈 ...I’m getting a little paranoid that someone might actually recognize me. It would be so mortifying if someone caught on—here I am acting like such a big shot posting on this forum while simultaneously whining about needing to drop some pounds. 😬 So, I might just pull these photos down later. 😕

Edit—the leg photo was taken yesterday, but the arm shot is over a month old. My arms are looking more muscular now, so I’ll try to snap a new one. You can't really tell in this specific leg photo.
