When this first started happening to me, I began looking into the science behind dreaming and found a few things... apparently, according to certain studies, we all dream every single night (often multiple times), but if we don't remember them, it means we had a deep, solid sleep. Conversely, if we do remember what we dreamed when we wake up, it suggests the sleep was quite light. I guess I've simplified and paraphrased that, but that's basically the takeaway I got. In my case, I remember my dreams about 99% of the time. I've asked people around me about this, and some mentioned they are aware of their dreams only very rarely, maybe once every ten days or so. Have you perhaps considered seeking some professional help regarding this issue you're having?
It seems likely that I am failing to reach those restorative, deep stages of sleep. My dreams are so relentlessly kinetic and action-packed that it often feels less like resting and more like being transported to another location entirely.
I have toyed with the idea, in a vague sort of way, of trying to secure a referral to that specialized sleep clinic over in San Francisco.
But honestly, I suspect they would just run a battery of tests without offering any actual resolution to the underlying issue.
Their whole process seems centered on sleep monitoring and running EEGs just to deliver a clinical verdict—essentially telling you that you aren't entering deep sleep. A friend of mine went through the whole ordeal there, and that was the extent of it.
I’ve been dealing with some pretty heavy sleep issues lately. It doesn't even feel like I'm actually sleeping; instead, it feels like I’m just trapped in a continuous loop of dreaming all night long. I wake up feeling completely battered, as if I haven't rested at all. The exhaustion is constant, and honestly, it's been dragging on for far too long.
I was merely referring to a slip of the pen in my initial post when I mentioned a Permaban on Lies.
Even now, just as in ancient times, hollowtrucker77 remains the absolute shame forum. What’s even more aggravating is that he seems to have latched onto me like some sort of digital virus, because here he is again, trailing me even in this space.🙄
Personally, I tend to just tune people out when they pop up in a thread, but I don't actually bother using the ignore button.

The mystery of why they hold such grace toward you remains unsolved, much like the mystery of how you have managed to endure here for all these years. Pure misfortune has steered my attention toward certain threads over the last few days, where I happened upon your posts and a signature from one user labeled Shame forum, which leads directly to a discussion about lifestyle choices where your more vulgar—to put it politely—outbursts were on full display.
That was the issue in that specific thread, but what's the point of filing a formal complaint? I tried reaching out to dustyranger64 directly via private message, but he wasn't even remotely interested in listening. 🙂

What you're asking for is a partial ban—a restriction on certain sub-forums.
And while we're at it, if you're going to beg for a partial or permanent ban, you better be ready for it. If it actually gets approved, don't come crying to me in a few days saying you changed your mind. I'm not lifting it just because you have a meltdown.
I am well aware of what a Permaban is. If I held any semblance of authority here, hollowtrucker77 would have been hit with one ages ago; I haven't encountered anyone more obnoxious in my life, whether online or in the real world.

Well, have it your way. If they strip my partial access to Lies, it'll be about as permanent as moving a mountain, so don't come crying to me later.
In any case, I frequently stumble upon fascinating discussions where I could offer some insight or advice, only to feel that familiar sting of disappointment when I realize the conversation isn't happening on the USA site and I'm unable to participate. 😢

You are certainly entitled to view my right-leaning views as poor communication, but in reality, what we have here is simply a fundamental difference in ideology.
Look, my first instinct was to just request a permanent ban from every single board he moderates, but once I actually thought about it, I realized how futile and pointless that would be.
Besides, you remember that whole mess over on the Linguistics thread, don't you? After hollowtrucker77 made those vulgar outbursts that clearly warranted a permanent ban—which were flagged twice, mind you—he showed up just to lecture all of us in bright red text, specifically targeting Sam Wright21. Then, he went ahead and slapped me with a warning card over some nonsense involving Felix, even though I hadn't insulted him and he certainly wasn't directed any animosity toward me.
The point is, being persecuted by this individual seems to be a recurring theme for me, but since I haven't caused any trouble over on the Lies boards, I see absolutely no reason why you wouldn't lift my permanent ban. 🤷
Well, I actually went ahead and requested a permanent ban from Lies just to escape that moderator who refuses to follow any actual logic.
But even then, he manages to haunt me over at Linguistics. It feels like a lost cause 🙂 The man is simply immune to reason.
I’m asking if you could please reverse my Permaban on Lies; I used to find such fascinating psychological discussions there, and unfortunately, they aren't available here in the USA, which leaves me with nowhere to ask questions or offer advice.
As for Philosophy, I took a permanent ban there too, though the Executioner operates with a much more sophisticated level of malice.
dustyranger64 isn't quite like that, so I suspect I could easily bypass him just for the sake of my own amusement.
Who can say for sure? Of course, if you want to actually stick to a strict diet and juggle all those supplements, you really need to have some genuine passion for it.
A friend of mine pointed out these videos to me yesterday, so I thought I’d pass them along to the group. Who knows, maybe there's something useful here.
Using niacin (Vitamin B3) to combat depression.
Then there's this second video—it covers various natural remedies for things like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, ADHD, and depression.
The second clip discusses Linus Pauling, a two-time Nobel Prize winner—one for his work with Vitamin C—who essentially pioneered the field of orthomolecular medicine.
Well, consider this little picnic—a safe and pleasant enough spot—officially locked down; I suppose we’re just waiting for the next chapter to unfold 🤷
I have to wonder, why hasn't the George Washington thread been locked yet? It's reached about the same number of pages, isn't it?
I don't use any other handles. I'm just Sam Wright21, though you likely recognize me from my regular contributions over on the Law forum, where I've established quite a bit of a reputation.
I honestly feel like the moderation over at the local community forums is hitting an all-time low, so I’m officially requesting a permanent ban. It’s the exact same downward spiral we saw with Philosophy. ☕
Bryan Edwards83 said:Why do people feel this need to be so mean to one another? Like, why the constant urge to belittle others or hide behind all that irony and sarcasm?
Is it just some kind of defense mechanism, I guess? Or do you think it’s just how people are wired, or maybe it's caused by something else entirely?
In part, yes—but more importantly, because much of the population doesn't actually deserve anything other than pure contempt. It feels perfectly natural to meet certain types of lowlife behavior with a heavy dose of sarcasm. Ultimately, irony and sarcasm function as a form of wit; they serve as a civilized substitute for simply walking up and punching someone in the face.
I took advantage of that "Daily Fresh Interest" promotion over at Hype last year—it was sitting at 5%—but the term was only for twelve months, and now it’s set to expire in just three weeks. I'm looking at more than $50,000 in savings.
Right now, I’ve been scouring the market, but honestly, I haven't found anything that beats what I was getting from Bill.
Well, I really appreciate the insight! Personally, I’m sitting on a somewhat larger sum, but my plan would be to split it between two different people. That way, we ensure every single deposit stays within the limits of the FDIC insurance, so there isn't any unnecessary risk involved.
I’ve raised this question regarding fixed-term savings elsewhere, but I see the same concerns popping up here—just how reliable is this bank, really? They’re offering the highest interest rates on CDs right now, which feels almost too good to be true.
Does the federal government actually guarantee deposits up to $133 (if my memory serves me correctly) across all banking institutions in the US?
My term at Goldman Sachs is set to expire in less than a month; I was pulling 5% there, and frankly, I haven't seen anything close to that rate anywhere else. Bill came the closest, and I haven't heard any whispers of scandal surrounding them lately.
You’ve certainly thrown out a lot of questions there 🤷
But at the end of the day, that conclusion is purely subjective. My own experience couldn't be further from yours, and frankly, I fail to see how much value you actually added to the conversation by being so contrarian.
