Does anyone have any insight into a situation like this: the property manager issued an enforcement order on time regarding unpaid HOA fees covering the period from January 1, 2009, to March 21, 2010. The debtor filed an objection. Now, we’re finally seeing a court summons arrive in mid-2014. Can the debtor invoke the statute of limitations here, given that more than three years have lapsed? From what I’ve been reading, even certain legal matters—like those involving judicial delays—can fall under the statute of limitations. Thanks if anyone can provide some definitive answers.
Additionally, is it possible for the debtor to file a counterclaim against the enforcer during the hearing?
The issue is that when these "marginalized" topics come up, the trolls are out in full force. You won't find any "feminist warriors" there, yet they’re always busy making accusations.
I’ve said it a hundred times already—there isn't a single serious discussion where people actually share their lived experiences of being screwed over by the courts, Child Protective Services, or other government agencies.
For instance, I could easily write an entire thread about how the legal system failed me, but there are so many victims of judicial dysfunction that we could have a dedicated topic just for that.
So why don't the men facing discrimination open a forum for us to see actual, concrete cases instead of this biased, theoretical finger-pointing? Instead, we just get ten different threads that all say the exact same thing.
Larry Wilson25 said:Have you ever actually tried walking a mile in your parents' shoes? Seriously—before you get worked up over their rigid views, try to see things from where they're standing. I know, I know, it leads to blowups. To them, any move you make feels like you're abandoning their kid to whatever fate comes its way. Look, it’s not like you *have* to obey every single command—you have every right to make your own calls, even if that means telling the whole family to back off—but before you go scorched earth, just... try to step into their perspective first. If they’ve decided your brother needs to stay put with them, well, obviously that’s what they want. And honestly? When all is said and done, every parent just wants what's best for their kids. It's how they're wired.
Objectively speaking, the truth is they're putting way too much on your shoulders just because you're blood—because you're brothers. Their perspective is narrow; they're looking at everything through this intense emotional lens. That's their baggage, not yours, so don't fall for any emotional blackmail along those lines. You're your own person, responsible for your own choices and the consequences that come with them. And please, spare me the lectures on "how you were raised"—I've learned the hard way that criticism isn't some magic tool for getting better results. Instead of fighting, try to outgrow them by understanding where they're coming from. Open up a dialogue about *yourself*—not about your brother. Talk about your vision for your future and ask them straight up: do they really want you to be a hostage to this sense of brotherhood? Do they truly want you to live an unhappy life just because they think that's how it should be?
The trick to the conversation is keeping the focus on YOU—your happiness and your future (use that to corner them, if you have to). Avoid talking about your brother or their relationship with him; whenever they bring him up, pivot the conversation right back to your own life.
But do they actually care about what’s best for crimsonmoose3, seeing as he's their child too?
crimsonmoose3 said:I'm not sure if this is the right thread for this. If the moderators think it belongs elsewhere, feel free to move it.
I need some perspective here. My brother is 30, but mentally he’s stuck at 13, if not older. According to his diagnosis, he’s autistic, has an intellectual disability, and is deaf-mute. It’s all due to a genetic mutation he was born with. When we were kids, we actually got along, despite the usual sibling bickering. Once I hit high school, his condition didn't bother me as much; I had grown used to his behavior over the years—the constant bragging that he was better than me, the teasing, and things like that. We still hung out and played together. But after high school, during a long stretch when I was unemployed, things shifted. He became exhausting to be around, and physical altercations started happening frequently. Most of them were triggered by me, because he would never just attack someone out of nowhere unless he felt he was defending himself. Once I finally landed a job, I moved into my own room so I wouldn't have to share space with him anymore. His habits are impossible—he'll stay up until 1:00 AM glued to his computer while I have to be up at 5:00 AM for work. Over the years, I've drifted away from him emotionally. It is draining to listen to his daily obsessions with bodily fluids and filth, or his constant talk about women, followed by him spiraling when he develops a crush only to have the girl move away or get pregnant. One time, he just snapped, and it nearly ended in a tragedy within our family; he’s been on medication for years since then. Now, it’s the same routine every day, and he's getting lazier. He won't even take a plate to the sink; he just leaves it there. He's messy, to say the least. I eventually got into huge arguments with my parents regarding how he was being raised, and eventually, I just gave up.
As time goes on, I can't help but feel that my brother will simply become a lifelong burden. My parents want me to be the one to look after him, even though my only opinion is that he should be placed in a specialized care facility. They lose their minds when I suggest that, so I don't bring it up anymore. But now, as I start planning a serious life for myself, I realize that if the time comes when I have to introduce my partner to my parents or to her personally, I just won't feel "comfortable." To be honest, I feel embarrassed by how he behaves in public, at the dinner table, and everything else. The only thing I don't feel ashamed of is his obsession with hygiene, which is equally intense.
I don't hang out with him anymore. We don't communicate—well, he doesn't speak, he uses sign language—and I don't really "experience" him as a person anymore. There is just coldness. I find myself thinking that if he ever had to live with us, he would be a constant weight on my shoulders; I can already imagine the chaos and the stress. Besides, he can't be left home alone without supervision for a single day. And given my current work situation, it seems like a professional facility is the only real option.
My parents have always prioritized him over me, giving him special treatment and putting up with everything, naturally. So, should I feel guilty for simply wanting him to be in a facility where he can actually receive proper care? When I ask others about this, plenty of "smart" people judge me, asking how I could do such a thing or why I won't step up to care for him. None of them actually know what it's like to live with someone like him...
You shouldn't feel an ounce of guilt. This is the right call; you can't be expected to shoulder this entire burden if it means completely destroying your own life in the process.
The proposed Federal Government would undoubtedly be a step up from any administration we've seen since the founding of the USA.
However, since I’ve never been much of a believer in the messy theater of democracy—preferring instead the streamlined efficiency of a technocratic, enlightened absolutism—I find myself wishing for a benevolent autocrat to take the helm. And if I had to pick someone...
An inspection against the management? I highly doubt that’s even an option since they aren't public servants. Your only recourse is the court system, but frankly, I stopped looking for justice there a long time ago; it's become painfully obvious who they actually serve.
Precisely. The director at my property management firm actually has a daughter who works as an attorney; she handles all the foreclosures and legal seizures whenever her old man decides to neglect his duties, ensuring everything stays perfectly lined up in their favor.
So, I’m left footing the entire bill while the roof is literally falling in on me. At this point, I don't know how else to stay afloat other than selling whatever dignity I have left just to keep a ceiling over my head. 🙂
It seems the judiciary is one of those rare institutions that manages to be remarkably punctual, if only because they have nothing else to occupy their time.
I’ve found myself stuck in a similar predicament regarding my HOA fees; I actually stopped paying them because the management company is flagrantly violating our contract. But let’s be realistic—any court would immediately rule that I am still obligated to pay, regardless of their failures. Still, I wouldn't dream of embarking on the exhausting, uphill battle of suing a management firm over a breach of contract. 😢
Let’s say you find yourself owing $1667 and the creditors are coming after everything you own. If your entire net worth is basically just a single apartment, and you actually go ahead and pay $1000, would they still try to force that apartment into an auction? 😲
Furthermore, if there’s a final, legally binding judgment upholding an enforcement order, what exactly is the statute of limitations? I’m struggling to wrap my head around how the expiration period works in this context.
And will the laws here prevent them from auctioning off the only property someone actually lives in?
It seems to me that once a portion of the debt is settled, the entire collection process just grinds to a halt. If my understanding of how these legal proceedings work is flawed, I would certainly appreciate someone setting me straight.
To’s true, you didn't actually make a case for it, and frankly, that description doesn't fit Meadow at all—it's as if you've confused her with someone else entirely. 😕
Edward Fisher86 said:Good grief, urbanotter, don't get all worked up. I actually think you're a decent enough person, just frustrated by certain moves made by the administration. But you're expressing it a bit "wrong." Pay attention to the quotes there.
And you completely misinterpreted my "I just follow along" comment; what I meant was that I only know about this one specific thread in Politics because I haven't even looked at the others, so I can't compare actions, Moderator. It's obvious I post there—I've shared links myself 😬.
The issue with comparisons to Nazism and such is that if I try to explain my stance briefly, it comes off as an exaggeration. Consequently, those comparisons miss the mark entirely and their only real purpose is to provoke "opponents"—basically, they're just trolling. You get what I mean?
Maybe someone else can explain it better; I'm typing this on my phone, so I'm not sure how concise I'm being.
And obviously, this isn't about glorifying Nazism... you wouldn't be glorifying it by making comparisons against Linić, whom you're arguing against 😉
Get it? Anyway, catch you later, I'm heading to the beach.
Who’s to say they aren't overdone? Imagine sitting in a local diner only to be violently ejected by riot police heavily armed to the teeth, through no fault of your own. This is exactly what is happening across America these days. What does that remind you of?
Given how clearly Minister Linić has demonstrated the scope of what can be done here, I wouldn't be surprised if someone like Karamarko decides to take things even further in the near future. 🤷
So, what is left for us to do now, other than vent our frustrations here on the forum, especially since the General seems to give Linić his full support?
It’s good to have a Moderator who actually recognizes the gravity of the current moment.
Steven King74 said:They aren't opponents; they actually agree on the whole health education topic. He doesn't hold any of those Štulhofer's views, but then again, even he probably thinks supporting someone like Reisman is going too far.
Alright, look, if he isn't perfectly 'orthodox' by your specific standards, so what? Does being a moderator mean one has to forfeit their right to an individual opinion? If that were the case, we might as well just have some automated software running the moderation duties instead. 🤷
No matter how much you vent, you haven't actually provided a single shred of evidence to suggest that slybison8 is anything less than a credible figure.
By the way, casualharbor3, take a breath and chill out—have you forgotten which discussion thread we're even in?
Steven King74 said:Of course they have their little clique. They’ll always jump in to defend one another, whether it’s by handing out bans or just stubbornly clinging to their positions during a debate. And don't go thinking the moderators actually coordinate behind the scenes to protect specific interests; they just work hard to make sure that's exactly how it looks to the public.
Do you really think it's a coincidence that Sean Cooper65 shows up here just to defend slybison8?
So, what exactly did slybison8 explain to Sean Cooper65 via private message? Sam Wright21, I honestly think you aren't even part of that clique—you’re just genuinely naive.
Fine, I’ll answer you using your own words.
If we went by the polls on this forum, the Oak party would be running the government. 🤣 It’s just a collection of extremists here, so honestly, these results don't surprise me one bit.
Rude? Please. That's about as much as saying "it's not Sanders, it's Doctor Sanders." 🤣
Discussing laws during Mass *is* political speech. And as for not messing around in church—that's because doing so disrupts public order. The same goes for a national holiday or the 4th of July; you don't disrupt the peace then either. I won't go any further on this topic, as it's strictly a matter of Politics.
You really are something else, truly brilliant😍
It seems that whenever you present actual evidence, it somehow transforms into proof of the exact opposite. 🤣
Take this instance, for example: this response from slybison8 only serves to demonstrate that the man is looking at the situation from multiple angles and remains perfectly well-intentioned toward his ideological opponent (which, in this particular case, is Sean Cooper65).
Isn't your own single strike against him just further evidence of his benevolence? Any self-proclaimed "liberal"—those types the "conservatives" constantly moan about being persecuted, though even I find them exhausting—would have slapped you with forty-five strikes by now, yet here we are.
Jesse Ortiz71 said:slybison8 is a solid guy to talk to here on the Forum, but as a Moderator, he’s way too blinded by his own ideological biases—especially when it comes to those PDF politics. Honestly, I have no clue why he agreed to play along with their version of a "right-winger." But if you want my two cents, he totally lost my respect with that whole thing regarding Alexis; seeing him admit to that was just pathetic.
Now everyone is jumping on him, but I wouldn't bet money on him holding a grudge. These people are "polite" about it, even when they're lying through their teeth and manipulating the facts.
And now we’re seeing those typical "leftist" paranoias rearing their heads once again. 🤣 slybison8 is entitled to hold whatever ideological convictions he chooses, and from where I'm sitting, he remains remarkably objective in his role as a Moderator. I consider myself a "leftist," strictly speaking—certainly not part of the right-wing crowd—yet I have never once felt targeted or harassed by his oversight.
Susan Price30 said:And who actually wrote that post? Was it slybison8?
Or are you complaining about posts from various users that none of the Politics moderators banned, even though you (and the thread starter) think they should have been? And then you specifically call out slybison8 and Robert Hall7, blaming them for not banning those posts simply because they happened to be active in the thread at the time.
To me, that seems illogical. Just because someone participates in a thread as a forum user doesn't mean they are acting as moderators for that specific discussion. Objectively speaking, if there's any responsibility to be had, it would fall on the entire Politics moderation team collectively, not just the two people you're targeting here, right?
(Especially when someone is a solid moderator like Robert Hall7 and slybison8; dragging them through a thread or singling them out for something that isn't necessarily their fault feels a bit extreme. That's essentially what I was getting at...😉
And what was the motivation for all this? One single deserved penalty point for a rightfully banned post? Give me a break...
It is actually perfectly appropriate that they didn't moderate the thread while being active participants themselves; if they had stepped in, they would have faced a blatant conflict of interest—imagine the hypocrisy if they started handing out bans just to silence anyone who dared to disagree with them.

The group was mocking Linić, treating him like he was mentally unstable or sick, saying he lost his mind because he doesn't have kids.
One guy even went so far as to seriously explain how he has experience dealing with middle-aged people who don't have children 🙄. They moved on to Linić's sexual preferences, suggesting S&M and all sorts of other nonsense.
That isn't freedom of speech. It's more like public defamation, insults, or whatever else you want to call it, directed at a person. If someone were targeted like that in real life, they could sue. Given the sheer level of torture Linić puts us through, the only real relief we get is having the chance to drag his name through the mud. It’s perfectly understandable, really—and honestly, quite human.

To be perfectly honest, this heavy-handed, paramilitary style of "guidance" is absolutely going nowhere fast. It’s exhausting to watch. I have to wonder, though—what actual harm is being done here? At the end of the day, Linić remains a privileged, wealthy elite living his best life, while the rest of us are left exactly where we started: just an frustrated, disillusioned mass of people.

The linked posts are only part of it, to be clear; mostly, I was linking his connections to Nazism.
All of that might hold water, but there is one but. I feel like finally snapping back at the guy: your uncle is the agent! He'll give his usual response, I'll give mine, and then you've got a massive blowout on the thread. That's why communication rules exist, and why we have mods to ensure we all stick to them.
Kudos to the Guild for their endless patience on this thread; I truly take my hat off to her. 🙏 That stoic, infinitely patient way of responding, explaining, and refusing to react to provocations is something you rarely see. (I was reading this earlier, and I hope she hasn't snapped 😬).
Clearly, you're a fan of PL. Fine, but my experience has been different. I saw this thread just a day or two after it opened, and despite all the provocations here, I jumped in for one reason: I saw that PL wrote a warning to "his clique" on the thread only *after* he read and responded to things here. Sure, he didn't accept the criticism, but he hurried over to the thread to "clean up" his own mess. Well, that behavior is extremely distasteful to me.
Furthermore, whoever deleted that one reported post essentially confirmed the inappropriateness of that unique text. Yet, that same text keeps looping around and around.
Regarding the discussion on Fiscalization, when you read through Branko99's posts, someone really needs to clarify 🤷.
The guy doesn't understand how to use quote tags properly, so he's always fine, and he frequently inserts his own commentary right inside the quote block. This makes it so anyone who isn't paying close attention can't actually tell whose words are whose.

No, it isn't about fandom; I simply have zero tolerance for any kind of repression. 🤷

And it’s more than just "unique" when the guy keeps insisting that we're all just agents for the previous administration, that I'm personally Linić's tax agent, or some kind of fiscal tyrant. It's all the same; the guy's writing is so "unique" that I'm starting to see imaginary agents appearing right in front of my face. 🙄
I don't tolerate verbal offenses either. But a man is allowed to express his opinion, for heaven's sake.🤷
It's a bit lackluster, I'll admit—especially with those quotes you mentioned, and the fact that he writes in such an odd way—but personally, I would much rather see someone writing whatever they please than deal with the heavy hand of censorship.
Really, now you’ve gone and decided to turn a Moderator into some sort of "case study." This is someone who doesn't go hunting for people to punish, nor does he play favorites by leaning toward either the "left" or the "right"; he simply engages in discussion like everyone else. It is actually quite interesting to read what he has to say.
Sean Cooper65 said:Why don't someone from the right side come along and call one of the Politics moderators a left-wing Scum with a poisonous tongue? Let's see how long they last on here.
Michelle Alvarez8 said:Honestly, I don't really see the point of this question. The Forum rules are pretty clear—and they apply to everyone equally, don't they? 🤷
The core issue here is that while there were complaints about how posts weren't being sanctioned, we ended up with two Moderators engaged in a debate right on the subject itself. It stands to reason that when they are already actively participating in the thread, they’re going to hand out warnings like candy. Of course, interpreting the forum rules is always going to be a subjective matter, much like legal interpretation in any US court, but personally, I find it quite commendable that people are still permitted to express their opinions freely.
Daniel Ward87 said:No worries, we're staying on top of this topic. I've already asked the Moderators to review those controversial posts and decide which sanctions to hand out. I'll do a second pass once they're done, so we'll see how things shake out.
Bravo to all you advocates of verbal misconduct; congratulations, you’ve finally secured that ban you were all so desperately praying for. The atmosphere here was actually quite relaxed and easygoing until you lot stepped in and completely ruined it.
