Russia's invasion of Ukraine: Part 5 in War in Ukraine ·
Carl Lee27 said:Now, several Russian media outlets are pointing the finger at her. She was quite active in politics and supposedly had much closer ties to Putin than most. Her views were pretty much a mirror image of her father's, too, which landed her right at the top of the UK sanctions list. From what I can see, the vehicle was absolutely totaled.

Is this just internal Russian infighting, or could it actually be the work of Ukrainians? There's even talk that her father was supposed to be in that car with her.

There are photos further down in the thread showing him arriving at the crash site holding his head in his hands—honestly, I think that’s pretty much a confirmation of what happened.

Nancy Gomez26 said:Apparently, we're looking at three intruders hitting some kind of weapons plant under the cover of a storm. Two are in custody, while the third remains at large. At first glance, this feels like a predictable extension of how Russian intelligence services have historically targeted ammunition depots and factories across Europe. We’ve seen them blow things up before. Everyone plays the hand they're dealt—the Ukrainians have their HIMARS, while the Russians rely on the FSB. It would be interesting to pinpoint exactly what is being manufactured at that site; it might explain why it’s such a tempting target.

They actually blew up an ammo dump in Bulgaria recently, and we all know Bulgaria is busy cranking out USSR-caliber rounds for Ukraine right now.

Just a little bit of Soviet history coming back to life for us.

Some hackers are out here trolling the Russians in Crimea—they actually hacked a digital billboard right at the bridge entrance to display a "Welcome to Ukraine" sign.

Let’s be real: throughout history, every single superpower has been oppressive to some degree, whether it's on a massive scale or just in smaller ways.
The whole concept of being a "superpower" is inherently built that way.
For us—as people living in a smaller nation—the real question isn't about stopping hegemony, but figuring out which of the "big three" (the USA, Russia, or China) is the least damaging to our interests.
And honestly? Even with all its flaws, the USA still leads the pack when it comes to protecting individual liberties and basic human rights compared to the other two. As part of the European Union and NATO, we basically just have to cross our fingers and hope the US maintains its status as the global leader for as long as we're around.

Seriously, how clueless can these Russians be? 🙏

They’re out here claiming a Chinese agricultural drone is actually some high-tech American tech they supposedly found in Pittsburgh, which was allegedly designed to spray Russians with some kind of ethnic virus. 🤣

I mean, hey, at least they aren't blaming pigeons or ducks this time. ☕

The whole thing about reopening Nord Stream 2 is honestly just a bunch of nonsense. If they actually wanted to let the Russians send over the gas instead of letting them use it as leverage, they could’ve finished that business with the turbine ages ago. You know, the one they kept whining about, claiming the West was being "mean" and wouldn't give it back? If they had just handled that, they wouldn't be stuck unable to pump anything right now. 🙂

Where even is that nuclear plant located—is it anywhere near us? Is it close to Chernobyl?
(I'm feeling a bit too lazy to Google it myself...)

If things go south, radiation spreading would be a nightmare.

By the way, the Zaporizhzhia NPP is actually twice as powerful as the Three Mile Island NPP at Chernobyl.

You can't just generalize and paint every Russian with the same brush just because the Russian propaganda machine is rambling about something. Who actually claims those Russian tourists are supporting this aggression against Ukraine?

Oh, really?
Well, if you want to get specific, let's take a look at how people are actually behaving and what kind of slogans they're shouting out loud.

Nancy Gomez26 said:The negotiations themselves aren't my issue. My issue is what kind of guarantees could Putin possibly offer to ensure he actually sticks to whatever is decided? Honestly? Some sort of honor code? A Cheka-style promise? Here, take our nuclear arsenal back—feel free to use it if we break the deal.

That’s exactly why I used quotes. In my opinion, they aren't offering to negotiate “in good faith.” To me, it looks like Russia is just trying to buy some time so they can catch their breath and reorganize.
Between those HIMARS strikes, the improved supply lines, and those recent "accidents" over in Crimea, they definitely took a massive hit.
I’m pretty sure they’d just push for a ceasefire under the guise of "negotiations" to freeze things in place.
But honestly, this whole thing also shows how much it bugs them—even if Putin himself were to step down from his throne this time instead of just sending his lapdogs.

I mean, they were already trying to negotiate before that whole Russian "reorganization" near Kyiv—you know, that little gesture of goodwill. Are we really just watching history repeat itself here? 😬

As for all that rainbow flag stuff, we could just flip the script. If those people hate the colors so much, they’re more than welcome to fly off to Russia so the rest of us can enjoy our marches through downtown Washington, D.C., in peace. Personally, I’m staying home during the parade. It’s not really about the people marching, though; it’s about the folks who get worked up just because others *are* out there. Plus, I don't exactly own a black t-shirt to make sure I look "intimidating" on the street.

Since it seems like Russians see a Nazi in every single Ukrainian lately—and considering some of these haters have an IQ level comparable to Putin—it’s probably safer for me to stay inside so nobody mistakes me for a villain. ☕.

I’m honestly just curious why they get so triggered by even a mention of potential travel bans to the hated West; it’s wild how the entire political scene basically launched itself into orbit out of pure rage when he was mentioned.

And the whole rainbow flag thing comes up because Russians constantly use it in their propaganda to claim the West has lost its moral compass, calling us decadent or weak and all that.
Though, if you ask me, the Russians are actually way more decadent themselves—they just only seem to show it once they get their hands on some cash.

According to CNN, Putin is supposedly down for a one-on-one sit-down with Zelenskyy, but honestly, it feels like we'll be in deep trouble the second the Russians actually start "negotiating."

The whole vibe regarding these talks has shifted from

"Russia's First stance in The negotiations with Ukraine was 'First of all, the delegations should determine the road map. Let The leaders then hold a summit.'"

But now, they're spinning it a different way, like

"Now, in order to stop the war, the Russian side Said, 'First The leaders Can negotiate and determine The Road map. Then, the delegations can start working to implement this road map.'"

William Anderson5 said:Forget about the Russians; in this entire saga, the Germans have come out looking the most pathetic. As if being humiliated by Russia wasn't enough, they managed to humiliate themselves even further with this attempt to return the turbine. That turbine was never the actual reason gas supplies dropped, nor did the Russians ever actually want it back.
It's a total collapse of the once-great Germans; they should have just dumped the turbine and left it in Canada...

Just like the geniuses over here who seem to think Putin wouldn't have shut off the taps to Europe if Europe hadn't imposed sanctions and started arming Ukraine.

Even though that's how it looked at the time, it turns out she was actually spot on in this case. She said they needed to return the turbine so it wouldn't be used as some political bargaining chip, and well, the turbine is right there and ready to go. So, that pretty much shuts down the Russian excuse that they can't deliver because "the wicked West won't return equipment from servicing."

rowdyraven112 said:And what’s the payoff? Zero. What do we lose? Just the average Russian spending near Leningrad, which isn't much anyway.
What do we actually lose here? Not much. A vacation to a far-off destination costs at least $1,000 per person plus extras. We didn't have a ton of Russians to begin with, but one single charter flight of them probably spends more in one day than 5,000 people on a cruise ship. Besides, the kind of trips like that are taken by wealthy Russians who can afford a coffee at $17 in downtown San Francisco without blinking. ☕

Yeah, sure comrade, let those folks from Leningrad enjoy themselves.

Anyway, FYI, canceling visas for Russians could totally be seen as a reciprocal move. The Russian Federation unilaterally scrapped visas for European Union citizens once the sanctions hit them.

Besides, why do they keep traveling to that Gaypeder, colorful European Union that they supposedly hate so much??
