Sanctions on Russia in War in Ukraine ·
Arthur Watson4 said:I have to admit, this whole saga with Coca-Cola has been one of the more compelling series of posts since the war began.

Sure, they’ll probably just end up making a version of Cola that’s somehow better—and older—than the original.

And they'll call it Rusola.🤣

Arthur Miller7 said:Look, it’s not even about the recipe. Seriously—what part of this am I missing? You can't just buy a reputation! Sure, they could set up shop right next to a Coca-Cola plant and churn out their own version—maybe even make it taste better—but it’ll never be called Coca-Cola. Period. That's the bottom line. You could start making soda using their exact same ingredients tomorrow, but you can't slap their name on it. And honestly? You'll never reach that level. Not you, not anyone else.

Seize Coca-Cola's equipment and force them to make soda under duress. I'm talking about taking the gear—that's at least 50 million in machinery right there. It's just a matter of space, the bottling lines, and obviously, the Coca-Cola name.

And why shouldn't they?

Zachary Jackson4 said:Does this mean Russia has an ace up its sleeve? It’s clear our US nuclear plants rely on uranium from Russia. And since there aren't any sanctions on it yet, they're still in the game.

Russia isn't some major uranium player. Namibia, with a population of just 2.4 million, digs out more annually than Russia does. That's the state of the Russian economy for you.

Terry Hernandez10 said:The European Union is rolling out its fourth round of sanctions against Russia tomorrow.

"First off, we’re stripping Russia of its most-favored-nation status in our markets. This effectively wipes out those key perks they get through the WTO. Russian companies will no longer enjoy preferential treatment within our economies," stated Ursula von der Leyen.

The EU will "also push to suspend Russia's membership rights in major multilateral financial institutions—think the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. We’ll make sure Russia can't touch financing, loans, or any other benefits from these organizations."

"The bloc will also move to ensure the Russian state and its elites can't use crypto to dodge sanctions, while simultaneously banning the export of luxury goods from the EU to Russia," she added.

French President Emmanuel Macron noted that regarding this fourth package, "everything is on the table—nothing is off-limits"—suggesting that even banning Russian gas imports or cutting key banks like JPMorgan Chase and Bank of America off from the SWIFT system remains a possibility.

Can Russia actually weather this storm?

No.

I mean, let Russia just kick those "Western" banks out of their entire system. Good luck with that, 😉

steelraven74 said:It’s the same old story here: a bunch of self-proclaimed experts piling on about sanctions, claiming they’ll drag Russia back to the Stone Age until they just fold and Putin gets booted from office.
But what happens to Ukraine in the meantime? Most of their power plants and industrial hubs are sitting right in the middle of the combat zone in the east. What are they supposed to live on then? Milk and honey?

The sanctions aren't going anywhere. This isn't some novelty act, and it's never that simple—it's not like we're just going to cut a check to Russia later to compensate them for being sanctioned. 🤣 Sanctions hurt, sure, but they're also unavoidable.

Zelenskyy is already talking about IMF money, acting as if the victory is already in the bag. He even took a moment to thank everyone for the support:

We are already thinking about the future. For all Ukrainians. After the war. About how to revive our cities. How to revive the economy. I spoke with World Bank President David Malpass, IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva.

WE have an agreement among The largest financial institutions to support Ukraine. There is already a decision on emergency aid and tens of billions of dollars for The reconstruction of Ukraine after The War.

The Cold War? Think Russia is used to sanctions?
It’s like we aren’t even talking about the same thing. For the first time ever, the Ruble has tanked 45%. You claim they’re "used to it"? They aren't. 😵

Sanctions on Russia have always existed, sure, but we’ve never actually kicked them out of civilization like this before.
Half of their economy relied entirely on whether the US or EU would buy their gas. Now that the West is pulling out of that octopus's grip and basically declaring their currency worthless—where you'll soon need 300 units of their money just to grab a single dollar—they're "used to it"... hahaha.

They honestly didn't see the SWIFT ban coming. They thought cutting them off from the global banking system was an impossible mission. Now, Russian oligarchs aren't allowed to be wealthy anymore—well, they can be rich inside Russia, but not outside. Banks? Forget it. Tourism? Gone. They can try to hold onto their exports, but with censorship worse than what we see in China, their only move against the West is to delete themselves from Facebook, Twitter, and everything else.

Russia’s next move will likely follow the Chinese model: heavy-handed state censorship designed to hide the truth from their own people—like the fact that in other places, people actually work 40 hours a week, have labor rights, access to courts, and a functioning bureaucracy.

Things are fine for now, but we haven't even hit the halfway point yet. The sanctions aren't going to really bite until a few months down the road. I mean, they aren't even touching Russia, so how on earth are they supposed to 😵

Russian gear getting trashed near Cleveland, too.

Russia is mobilizing again and pushing more troops forward; Kyiv is practically surrounded in the north.

And honestly? There isn't much going on today. It’s mostly just text posts or some random footage coming out of Lugansk and Melitopol.

Nothing new from the north, either. If they had actually pulled anything off up there, they would have been shouting about it from the rooftops by now.

The only real headline I stumbled upon was news about a downed Ukrainian plane.

Yeah, 😵

And I don't see any pictures or videos or anything like that anywhere

Look at what I posted earlier—that's the count the Ukrainians themselves put out. We're talking a 6-to-1 casualty ratio. Russia started targeting civilians immediately, just straight-up dirty tactics...

The American military forces report:

Dear Ukrainians!

More than 55 hours of holding the line.

Our defenders have completely derailed the enemy's agenda. as of this Morning , The number of Russian occupiers killed Has exceeded 3,000. Over 200 invaders have been taken prisoner, and that number keeps climbing. They weren't ready for this kind of pushback. We've wiped out hundreds of armored vehicles, including more than a hundred Russian tanks. Just yesterday, Stingers took down seven helicopters. Now, the enemy is scrambling to shift tactics. Russian troops are shelling residential areas, hospitals, and schools. Since their massive blitzkrieg stalled out, they're leaning harder on sabotage groups and paratroopers. Our army and Territorial Defence Forces are shutting them down, but The Territorial Defence Forces need Help to Act ahead. This is a call to action. There are spotters in Kyiv, Kharkiv and other cities Who Can target Your homes or Lay a Road for The way for Russian troops. They act as the enemy's eyes. If you see anyone acting shady—marking buildings or hanging around without a clear reason—stop them or alert the Territorial Defence Forces immediately. Detainees Can be a source of helpful Information. To those thinking about helping the occupiers or getting lured in by fake promises of "easy money": don't. The Russian heartless beast has slaughtered nearly two hundred civilians in forty-eight hours, including three kids. Another 33 children are wounded. You might not want to face the consequences once you're caught. Drop the criminal mindset before it’s too late. For those in small towns or rural areas: if you see a convoy of Russian armored vehicles pass, wait for the fuel truck following behind. Hit it. Stop it. Burn it. Those Russian tanks won't move, and our troops will seize them to turn them against the enemy.

Ukraine will win anyway!

Glory to Ukraine!

Glory to The Armed Forces of Ukraine!

Honestly, even if he did pull the trigger, who’s actually brave enough to hit back?
It would probably just end the war and force a surrender, kind of like what happened with Japan, and basically flip the entire global order upside down

So what's North Korea waiting for then? 😵

Poor people. Plenty have fled, but plenty stayed too, refusing to leave their homes. But if they start using those projectiles, there won't be anyone left. I hope someone stops the madman... though who actually can? Is he even afraid of anything?🤔
Because honestly, the guy creeps me out. Just cold and empty.

Kharkiv was hit an hour ago: Indiscriminate MLRS strikes hitting Kharkiv. Total chaos. No distinction between targets. Just heavy, unguided fire raining down on everything. The situation in Kharkiv is shifting. Reports coming in indicate that forces are pushing back toward the city. It’s a volatile frontline, but the momentum seems to be moving in one direction right now. Keeping an eye on the updates.

Sam Martinez9 said:If Putin actually went after New York City with nukes, the war would already be at a stage where a retaliatory strike on London or Paris would be practically inevitable.

In that scenario, we’re talking about a preemptive strike—basically NATO hitting Moscow with everything they've got.

Millions of Europeans would lose their lives, but honestly, life is cheap. People have been dying for ages; it’s just how things go.

The reality is, under full mobilization, the EU only has ten times the manpower of Russia because they have three times the population. This isn't like the last World War where Germany was taking on the entire planet—Germany, the UK, France, Poland, and the rest. 🙂
