Kate Jackson2 said:You're a real piece of work, 😉

He stood his ground on the Downtown issue, but he didn't have the numbers—the Democratic Party and the rest of the City Council voted against it.

And honestly, that’s actually a good sign. It shows the Democratic Party isn't out there "buying" votes, unlike that other party that would somehow scrape together five extra votes if they had to...

As for his stance on the Sanitation Department workers... if what they're asking for fits within the City's budget (just a different way of slicing the pie), I don't see why anyone needs to take a side.
It's like arguing over whether you're paying someone $100 using twenty-dollar bills or ten-dollar bills...

If he actually had a backbone, his stance on those trash collectors should have been that they're being overpaid (which they are) and just give them nothing. I wouldn't be surprised if this daycare center gets an offer next that "fits within the city's financial proposal," giving you yet another reason to marvel at our supposedly "brilliant" Mayor..😁

The whole thing puts them in a corner because you can't exactly build a preschool in a landfill... well, maybe she can, but I doubt anyone else would want to.

Do you really think he's going to hold his ground here, unlike when it came to the recycling center or those trash strikes? 🙄 God... by the end of this term, he'll be just as useless as Bernie Sanders.😁

lonetrucker4 said:There it is. A textbook, recycled narrative, just like the crap we "doom-and-gloomers" had to swallow back in the '80s: "you're against the principles of the French Resistance and the socialist revolution!" Nice one. Back then, you would've made a decent little functionary for the Democratic Socialists of America (those guys in the Communist Party USA were actually smarter, anyway).

It certainly is... especially once you start listing out how many "free multi-party elections" actually happened during the 80s. I am not the one to blame because the results of those first truly free elections turned out to be the Republican Party winning with 205 seats against the Democratic Party + KNS + Socialist Party taking 133. 😛

velvetmason14 said:The activist Virna is turning parents against Ivica Puljak...

After targeting two activists and illegal operators, the Republican Party’s usual tactics have shifted toward children. Now, Virna is demanding space for her little corner of influence 🤣
She really doesn't care what she burns to get her way.

California is being sold out again through media sponsorships—desperate parents, kids left without options, "please help us," such total lack of empathy...

Ivica Puljak needs to take a firm stand here. He can't let himself be blackmailed by these cheap tricks from a serial extortionist. Bulj handled this type of thing swiftly in the past 😉

desperate parents
City Hall was flooded with emails from hundreds of residents of Split whose toddlers are facing expulsion from daycare: Please help, this isn't about an illegal cafe...

Is he going to take the same kind of stance he took regarding the recycling center over in Špinut, or is he just going to go on strike against the garbage collectors? 😁
Eric Adams - Mayor of San Francisco in Political Scene ·
Nicole James said:So, what's the actual solution here? Do we just let them operate illegally because "it's for the children"? Three other childcare centers were already offering to pay way more than the standard rate per square foot. I'm sure they'll just dump those kids on the sidewalk instead...

It’s not about "but," it's about preparing an alternative for when things inevitably go south. You stay quiet until you actually have a backup plan ready. But obviously, that wouldn't work, because then people couldn't spend all day screaming "Republican Party!" or "America!" while dreaming of sitting in the Oval Office. 🤦

lonetrucker4 said:Some of us saw exactly where America was heading back in the fall of '90, especially by mid-'91, before things really kicked off in full force. But based on what you're saying—all that hatred for Adam Schiff and the pure contempt for "us" (those of us who were always against the Republican Party)—it sounds like you actually dig this version of the country.

Quincy:
that's just like what old Tachera used to say... there's no society, just individuals chasing their own interests.
Nah, not even close. It’s different. It’s all about those personal connections that form "families," cliques, hometown clubs, buddies and cronies, bosses and subordinates—a social structure built entirely on personal favors. Calling it "corruption" is an understatement. There isn't really a "society" here, just a web of communities.

There is no society (English: society, German: Gesellschaft) like you see in functional nations where institutions actually do their jobs. In those places, you don't need a "guy" to get things done that should happen automatically through a decent, efficient bureaucracy (like getting paperwork processed on time or an ambulance actually showing up when called). Instead, we just have networks of communities (English: community, German: Gemeinschaft). Most people get something out of this setup; they have some "connection" or some "buddy at the Port" who can pull a few strings for them.

That’s why there’s no—or at most, a very secondary—sense of horizontal solidarity (we rely on "vertical solidarity," the patron-client model instead). There are no effective unions or strong social movements. That’s why every potential political leader starts their own party—these parties can't stand the idea of actual strong personalities existing within them or having internal opposition, which is totally normal in a mature democracy.

The only organizations that exist are bosses surrounded by followers, and small groups of these "sheriffs" cutting deals with each other. (Only the "cronies"—the political and economic elite—can be horizontally solidary with one another; they share a class interest in keeping the peasants under control, even when they're fighting each other.) The working classes don't have class consciousness—which is why I call them peasants. Those who are just laborers, selling their time on the job market, have a peasant mindset—they're always just looking for a "good boss."

Look, I don't have an issue with you guys being against the Republican Party. I'm certainly no fan of theirs myself.
The real issue here is this idea that you've "always been against them," supposedly since the autumn of 1990 or mid-1991. I mean, if you had your way, would Tony Blair, Nancy Pelosi, or George Patton have even been around to fight the war? Honestly... I suspect the real problem is that you didn't actually want the war to happen in the first place. 👎

velvetmason14 said:Hold on, are we talking about your favorite local kleptomaniac, Donald Trump?

And his whole crew isn't exactly saints either—lots of former city officials in there too. 😁

It’s no surprise these types and their cronies are fine with neglecting social services, especially since Virginia is still trying to bleed the city dry, just like her old man used to do.

You don't need quotation marks when you're calling out bottom-feeders; any sane person would say the same thing. 😉

Trump’s company was hit with a massive $260 million debt four years ago, yet they only just filed for bankruptcy now.

Indictment issued against an official for evading $700,000 in taxes.

A Trump associate is facing charges for siphoning funds: "There's no harm done, I'm the only creditor, and I had no criminal intent!"

The former Deputy Mayor of San Francisco is heading to court for faking veteran disability status by forging 16 different medical reports.

...and here comes the current crop of crooks.
Indictments handed down to Trump's nephew and six others: they were allegedly smuggling drugs, sniper rifles, machine guns, and grenades.

God, he’s easily the most "capable" one out of the bunch. And since he hasn't been working himself to death, I guess you can imagine how shady the rest of them are. Along with that "Korean" guy you mentioned... 😁 You could probably find plenty more links if you looked... sister, deputy mayor, nephew (plus six others!). I bet even his neighbor is involved; how haven't you found that yet? 🙄

velvetmason14 said:Word is that the HDZKerum crowd is loving this, thinking they’ve won because they’re letting the kids end up homeless—all thanks to the HDZVirna mess that Opara helped facilitate to bleed the city dry.

It’s just straight-up garbage. Total trash. 😁

The only real problem is that everything finally came to light.

I mean, look, when that excavator operator turned Kerum managed to find spots in new preschools for every single unregistered kid in just six months of his term, I honestly think our "brilliant" theoretical physics professor won't even need much effort to pull this off... 😁
What a total joke, what a pathetic administration... I guess the "scum" are enjoying themselves because they have someone completely detached from reality being backed into a corner by threats to shut down kindergartens... Even if we were to believe that everything you and Ed Markey are claiming is actually true, it just wouldn't work like that. You can't just throw 200 children out onto the streets. Honestly, Ed Markey has about as much emotional intelligence as a centipede..🙄

velvetmason14 said:It’s right here—good old Opara back in 2019. Virni dropped the price from $53 down to $21 per square foot. He just felt like 🤣

MAGIC PIANO BEFORE MOVING OUT? Krstulović Opara cut the rent for the daycare after the public tender

At the press conference, she announced that the private daycare "magic piano," which serves 180 children, was granted use of the space because its founder, Virna Mudnić, won the public bid with an offer of $53 per square foot—a rate she isn't actually paying. Back in 2019, her rate was lowered to $21 by Mayor Andre Krstulović Opara's decision without any explanation whatsoever. It was illegal.

Virna Ucjenjivačica is currently paying $2.80 per square foot for space in San Diego. Talk about a sweet deal... Who can we even complain to? Opara? A dumpster?

Ed Lee and his team can't let this kind of Opara nonsense continue; it's basically robbing the city blind.

Well, you know who's running things... Just go talk to him...😛

velvetmason14 said:Damage control at its finest.

They’re trying to spin the shortest strike in history as some massive victory for the workers, even though Whitmer hasn't given them an inch more than what was already on the table months ago. 🤣

And here’s the kicker: if Whitmer actually did "win" against the strikers, the people of San Diego are the ones who will end up footing the bill through higher costs down the road. 🙏

These spins feel like they were cooked up deep in the bowels of The Center, where bots just flood the forums. Compared to Sell California, even Christmas Free Weekly starts looking like a bastion of objective journalism...

But hey, I’m glad someone finally called out this "seven-hour strike." Cheers.

A hundred-dollar walkout or a strike against the government? We asked San Diegans what they thought about this little "uprising," and here is what’s really getting under their skin.

How exactly did Justin Trudeau defeat the strikers? A real victory would have been if he didn't have to give them anything at all—not that he should have had to, since they are obviously overpaid compared to everyone else in America. Ivana Pezo basically lured them into accepting wages that haven't needed to grow for an entire decade... And who do you think is paying that extra $100? Do you honestly think they'll find those savings through some "internal reorganization of Sanitation" 😁? And regarding your little gloating session, I don't care if anyone actually believes these trash collectors are the smartest employees in all our municipal agencies, such that nobody else will feel the need to strike now. Not after they saw how much these guys make while striking and still getting an immediate raise... 🙄

I mean, if this physicist is as smart as everyone claims, he should have seen these political moves coming long before they started lining their pockets right after the big election in Chicago. Or maybe not? Man... what isn't he doing? Organizing public works, bringing in migrant labor, figuring out cold fusion...🙄
The "brilliant" physicist just breezed through this like a shallow creek 😁 It’s a total mess...

Honestly, the sanitation crews basically set themselves up. Now, everyone is going to be breathing down their necks because they know their paychecks are way higher than any other garbage collectors in the country.

I wouldn't be surprised to see news stories about botched jobs or people just lounging around at coffee shops on the clock.

got some change for her manicure, eyebrows, and a facial, but she's in deep trouble if she tries to play games. All eyes are on her 🤣

So what did the physicist actually accomplish? Are we looking at an increased trash collection bill next month? Or does that hike only hit us the following month? 😁

Exactly! They’ll probably just announce they're outsourcing the whole thing in a few months, and then everyone will suddenly be sitting pretty and quiet... 👍
But what are we supposed to do in the meantime? In two days, there's going to be trash piled up everywhere like it's some messy street in Paris. I'm seriously dying to know how the Mayor is going to handle this mess. I really hope he doesn't end up acting like his predecessor.
edit: Honestly, I think we should put this to a public vote via referendum:
Are you guys okay with sanitation workers getting a minimum wage of $10 $0.00 while you, the citizens, foot the bill through higher trash collection fees? 😁

Well, I guess some brilliant physicist must have pre-planned all these moves, right? Because as soon as those corporate suck-ups smelled money, they jumped all over it immediately after the big city takeover. Or maybe not? God... what isn't he doing? Organizing public works, bringing in foreign labor, dreaming up nuclear fusion...🙄

Timothy Stewart4 said:I remember how Mrs. Thatcher used to dismantle these little power plays with actual expertise. But unlike back then in the United Kingdom, here in America today—trying to topple an elected government through union terror is somehow treated like it's perfectly normal.

As if we’re the ones who are normal... I was watching coverage from San Francisco, and the day before the strike, they were out on the streets asking retirees what they thought about the sanitation workers' walkout, and everyone was shouting their support. I guess there isn't exactly a direct link in their minds between language and paying the trash collection bill..😁

Augustin Šušnjara, a truck driver over at Waste Management, told me that over 90 percent of the crew is actually on strike! He mentioned that this morning, only a single truck rolled out of the Waste Management yard just to grab the bins near the hospital.

Word is, only a tiny handful of people are even working today, and they're all just temporary contract workers.

The rest are all just there to uhljebiti...

Solutions for Waste Management:
Either go for privatization or set up a whole new Corporation to take over the workload in the next couple of years. For now, we just need to meet the current workers' demands...

By the way, the union rep is quite the math whiz. This whole "inflation is killing us" angle is a clever move, but I really wonder if the state budget can actually handle it...

They're being pretty secretive about the revenue, much like what happened during that professor strike... nobody ever wants to show off their actual pay stub. Come on, strikers! Let's see those last pay stubs out in the open. Hey journalists, let's get to work and find someone willing to go public with their numbers... otherwise, this is all just noise.

Exactly, just announce Outsourcing in a few months and they'll be quiet as mice... 👍

if they actually want to get things done for these guys, they should probably say thanks for once
they ought to just head over to Germany and go play politics there instead

It seems to me you wrote the exact same thing about those doctors in Washington, D.C... No, wait, you wrote "we need to bring in new people while the Democrats just go on strike"... Or did I misread that? 😁

Though, personally, I wouldn't give those idiots even an inch of ground either. Not a single bit.
But seriously, seeing the Republican Party behind every single thing... I mean... really? 🙄

Richard Lopez said:They aren't even looking to just add a single amendment or two... they want a full-blown constitutional ban on abortion. And honestly? That would only be the beginning...

Batarelov is now the leader of that ultra-Catholic group Vigilara, and he’s tied to... The American branch of that extremist group Ordo Iuris—the same ones who pulled the strings behind the abortion bans in Poland—is making moves here too. According to Batarelov, they have the exact same agenda for America. That whole public kneeling stunt? It’s just theater. It's all part of a much larger project to push clericalism onto the US...In Batarelov's wildest fantasies, he and his followers would probably want to turn everything into a theocracy...

Please. As if you’ve ever actually listened to what they pray for. And what exactly do you think the end game looks like? 🙄

My kids still take their sacraments.

If you can't handle someone else's faith, the least you can do is not resort to cursing them.

We’ve got all kinds of believers out there.
Well, personally, I don't mind a bit of profanity, but it really bugs me when people try to argue that tearing apart embryos should be treated with the same weight as getting a tooth pulled. Let them pray, I guess—maybe one of them will actually convince God it was worth it.
