I’ve been watching more international tournaments lately, and I can’t shake this growing feeling that something is fundamentally shifting in the atmosphere. It used to feel like these massive global events were about the pure, unadulterated passion of the sport—the underdog stories, the national pride, the sheer chaos of the pitch. Now, it feels like every single decision is being weighed against a spreadsheet.

It’s getting harder to ignore how much "commercial interest" seems to dictate the way these spectacles are organized. I remember watching games back in the day where it felt like the fans were the primary focus, but these days, it feels like we’re just the background noise for some massive corporate maneuvering. When the entities running these tournaments start acting more like private equity firms than sporting bodies, I worry about what gets sacrificed in the name of "growth."

Do you think we're reaching a point where the commercialization of major sports will eventually kill the very thing that makes them worth watching?

Anything else is just playing numbers games...
